The Buffs volleyball team (10-3, 2-1) fresh off of a huge win over #1 UW, will be back in action today at noon when they host Washington State (14-2, 1-2) who are coming off of a tough 5 set loss to Utah. The Pac-12 Network will be showing the match and it will be streamed online for subscribers. Rich Burk (play-by-play) and Kim Oden (color) will cover the Washington State match. Also, On Sunday, there will be a free clinic following the match for youth in eighth grade and younger with the CU staff and players.
Kyra Holt leads WSU and is fourth in the Pac-12 with 4.19 kills per set and is hitting .302. Ver’leea Hardaway ranks second on the team with 2.90 kills per set; and has the ninth best hitting efficiency in the conference at .390. Camryn Irwin has directed the Cougars to a .290 team hitting percentage and is averaging 10.88 assists per set, which ranks fourth in the Pac-12.
A pair of Cougars are each recording over 3.00 digs per set. Kate Sommer leads the way with 3.63 digs per set (eighth in the Pac-12) and Jaicee Harris adds 3.17 digs per set. At the net, Hardway is posting 1.12 blocks per set and Marcelina Glad is putting up 1.08 blocks per set.
The Buffs own a 3-2 record in the series against Washington State. CU and WSU split the series in 2011 and 2012 with each team taking the victory at home. The other meeting came in 1999 with CU winning 3-1 at the CEC.
