If it does pop,
and the buffs start winning,
Hawk will have earned the right to be an arrogant SOB.
Honestly, what can't you forgive and forget if he proves to be the slow-and-steady zen turtle who wins the race - if we win, and win big, and keep winning? If his crazy methods really worked? Then we have to go "oh, okay, you win."
I'll be one of those "men in black" people who gets zapped and remembers only the present and on.
I'll admit, being a leader, you may have to have a small (VERY small) arrogance streak in you to rally your subordinates behind you for success. Thing is, it MUST be tempered by humbleness, and (despite what Woelk and the AD PR dept. writes) I have yet to see that from Hawk. Hell, this guy has blamed everybody else for HIS problems more than GB ever did in his fifteen year association with CU.
If he wins next year, will I support the team? Damn right I will. Will Hawk have earned respect? A little...sustain the success as long as Mac (and to an extent GB) did, then maybe I'll buy into what he's done up there. As for now, I'll stick by my previous post.
It probably has to do with my military background in that when you are placed in command, you get at most 6 months to establish yourself as a leader and sustain that success. Yet even if you are the second coming, you're still under constant scrutiny. Hell, a submarine skipper was recently relieved for cause
24 months into his 28 MONTH tour! Here Hawk just got rewarded with a fifth year despite not having sustained superior performance in ALL FACETS of his job.
And as for the "men in black" who get zapped for only looking as far as the present forward - well, if you don't remember the past, you are doomed to repeat it. And I don't mean that toward you AJ, I'm referring more along the lines of Woelk, Bohn, and Hawk who seem to be content with wiping the slate clean (again and again) "moving forward" with the distinct possibility of repeating the past because they choose to ignore it.
Thank goodness as fans, we do have the luxury of being able to forget the past and move forward.
