I'm not sure I've ever enjoyed watching any game more than 62-36. Of course January 1, 1991 was a great day and Super Bowl XXXII was incredible, but there was just something special about that ass whuppin' we put on them that day! Maybe the fact that I worked in a large office building with dozens of Nebraska transplants at the time had something to do with it. The next week they all had the same look on their faces as the crying kid! :lol2:

Some of them were so obsessed with the Huskers that I bet they freaked out like this kid after Chris Brown's 6th TD!

It's crazy how even the yardage was in that game! They had the four turnovers and we had none.

Those were great back-to-back games. Chris Brown's performance against Nebraska that day is the at the absolute top of the list of CU's GOAT individual single game performances. He was responsible for renaming the vaunted Blackshirts of Nebraska the Brownpants Defense after they soiled themselves all afternoon. It was a magical moment in Boulder.

Punking UT in a "neutral" Texas Stadium was a solid team effort and an exciting game. It was not as satisfying as NU because of the Simms-Applewhite QB excusemaking by UT fans as a justification for their defeat. It would have been nice to slap half a hun' on those Longhorns and remove all doubt about which was the better team that day.

After the UT game, the bottom fell out. NU ranked higher than CU in the BCS by a hair. CU was soundly beaten by Oregon in the Fiesta. And then the pseudo scandal resulted in months and years of turmoil.

But that two game run at the end of the 2001 season was the last big, proud moment of national relevence for CU football.

It can't wait for Embree to return the Buffs to such lofty heights again.

We had a guy in the office whose cube was a nubby shrine. He was literally crying. Another guy sat just over the cube wall from me, moved in and immediately hung his Nebraska flag between our cubes. I kept silent about that, and it came down after the game. Two sweet side effects 0f 62-36.

I actually enjoyed the Texas game more. The Nebraska beatdown, although surreal, was years in the making. Huge monkey off the back. But the Texas win was more of an upset in my book, was a more exciting game, invovled hardware and a BCS berth, which we haven't sniffed since.

I'll take hardware and championships everyday of the week over one game. Would it have been as great if we beat them by the same score and came in 2nd or third in the Big XII north? I think not. Part of the reason the game was great was because it knocked them out of the championship game and put us in it.

I was at both games. There was a real difference in "feel" to each of them. 62-36 was the culmination of a decade of frustration and heartache. From 1992-2000, CU had come tantalizingly close to beating the fuskers several times. 93, 94, 98, 99, 00 - all could have easily gone our way, but none did. Along comes 2001, and it seemed like there was nothing that was going to stop CU that day.
I was worried there would be a big let-down the following week in Dallas. I have to admit, it was a lot of fun watching CU put it to the whorns in Texas Stadium.

As for which was better - I give an ever so slight lean to the CCG against UT. It meant more. There was something tangible on the line, whereas the fusker game was really only for a spot in the championship game.

So! With the 62-36 game behind us and the hardware in the trophy case, and with it being about 36 hours before the dawn of a new era for Colorado (and for Nebraska too).

The question is: What is better?

1. Beating USC or Oregon by a similar 62-36 score.

OR

2. Taking home the Pac 12 Conference championship trophy.

One way or another the 62-36 game and the trophy the came along that season will fade into distannt memory and become a blip on the radar screen.

Good Luck in the 12-Pac!

It depends on when those things happen. If CU goes for several years coming really, really close to beating USC, but can't quite close the deal, and then one day busts out an epic, program crushing defeat of the Trojans, we can have this discussion.

I can give you the answer right now. Pac-12 championship every time without question. More tangible and more meaningful and more to enhance the history of the program than a blowout win against conference foe.

I just looking forward to getting some new highlights and things to talk about. Threads on games from 10 years ago is pretty lame...shows how far the program has fallen.

I dunno, I seem to remember it really well. The fun hasn't faded at all. Good luck in the Big 10!

I'm going to go with beating the hell out of Nebraska in the Rose Bowl. Final answer.

I went to both games as well and as fun as it was to bet the bugeaters, shocking the state of Texas was even more sweet. The place was easily 82-20 Texas fans versus CU fans. They picked a nice neutral site in the other teams home state that was a short drive to the stadium.

Right now, I'd have to say that - without question - the Pac-12 Championship would mean more.

However, I agree with Sacky that the proposition needs a little more context. Right now, we're 0-5 against u$c. If that number runs up to 0-10 or 0-12, and is followed by a 62-36-esqe beatdown, that would most likely rank pretty high up on the important scale. Of course, it will take quite a long time for us to develop a history with any of the Pac teams like we've had with Nebraska. We look forward to that challenge!!!

Best of luck in the Big Televen 12 -- be a Leader, or would that be a Legend??

To be fair, had OU not sh*t the bed at home against OSU that year, we would have played the Sooners in that game.

The Nebraska game was like losing your virginity and the Texas game was like sleeping with Jessica Alba....

Both of which Liver has yet to achieve.... I am rooting for ya bro!

Very true but I called it a year in advance, I told my son's mom they were gonna beat them and big. She hates me but even her mean ass would admit that. Won 400 including the Texas game, lol was my brother pissed.

I would take 94 off the close to beating the fuskers and put 96 in there.

The trophy ceremony at the end of 2001 game was my first sign that the B12 didn't give a crap about CU football or it's fans.

The trophy ceremony was super quick...basically going through the motions for TV purposes. When the cameras went off, the ushers were hellbent on clearing out the stands. One usher got in my face for trying to get down to the side of the field to sing the CU fight song with the players who were headed for the tunnel. I saw an usher push fellow Buff trying to do the same thing.

I guarantee if Texas were to have won that game, the Longhorn fans would have been given an extra 10 minutes to celebrate with their team.

Denver never got the chance to host the CCG during the entire history of the real B12. This fact just further cemented the geographical bias of the old neighborhood.

I'm still ecstatic CU traded away their chance to play in Jerryworld for Larry Scott money and the new P12 conference...and I live in Dallas.

Beating Texas was nice in 2001. They exacted their revenge in the 2005 CCG in Houston, though. Brutal. The choice to leave the Big teXiis conference on Bohn's terms helped tremendously in evening the grudge. Damn Texans. Worse than the Nubs.

When I started paying attention to college football as a kid in the early 90s I knew nothing of the CU-Nebraska rivalry. Longhorns were the enemy, burnt orange was a sickening color and the fans were a bunch of arrogant goons. After adopting CU as my team later in my teenage years I finally understood the significance of beating the Nubs during that game in 2001, but to do Texas that way the next week was my favorite moment in my history of watching sports (beating their Final Four team in '03 at Coors is second on this list for CU moments). Given the number of years I've been told "bro, you're wearing the wrong shirt" for sporting the black and gold and never orange on their campus, and the ridicule I've had dished my direction by that fanbase during the Hawkins years, there is no team I'd rather see the Buffs beat. I can only hope I am still young and energetic when we deal them heartbreak head-to-head, destroying hopes in September or wasting their travel budget at a BCS championship game.

Where's the other 8 percent?

so are you saying that if WE lost the game, we would have been in the Championship game???

Beating texas was better because of the hardware and seeing the faces of billy bob and jethro was even better.
