GRANADA, Spain—Junior Adam Zika, captain of the men’s alpine team at the University of Colorado, became the first men’s skier in CU history to win a medal, earning the silver medal for the Overall Competition at the 27th World University Games, wrapping up a successful completion for the Buffs.

Zika accumulated the second most points of all men’s alpine skiers across four races throughout the games. He is the second Buff to win a medal at the games joining Thea Grosvold, who won a Gold Medal in the slalom on Friday.

On top of becoming the first men’s skier in CU history to medal, Zika is just the fifth overall to do so and sixth overall medal, including the second silver medal. He joins Grosvold, former Buffs Erika Hogan, who won silver in the slalom in 2003, Katie Hartman, who won gold in the Super G in 2011, and Erika Ghent, who won a silver in the Super Combined and gold in the Overall Competition, also in 2011.

Congrats to Mr. Zika and, since I missed it in the earlier thread, Ms. Grosvold for the medals in this world championship!
