Powell has visited Nebraska and Texas A&M. He is visiting Washington this weekend.

CU has also shown interest in other prospects from Upland.

WR Kenny Lawler has had a CU offer for a while (ASU verbal).
RB Donta Abron has also had a CU offer for a while.
ATH Marques Mosley also has CU as his only reported offer.

Here's the new Scout article on the Powell offer:

Powell received his most recent offer last week from Colorado.
“I was pretty excited,” said Powell “They have been keeping in close contact with me every since they offered me.”

We definitely have ground to make up on NU, aTm and UDub at this point.

If you do a video search on him, you'll also find highlights from Upland's first 5 games on youtube.

i love fullbacks. we got a shot at this kid? brandon drumm was the ****. Fullbacks jus get you fired up. Lawrence vickers when he played FB was sick too. But he also played RB. the V back is what they called him i remember.

Perfect type of recruit. Bring in athletes and then figure out the best way to use them. Having to figure out where you want to use a kid who can contribute at multiple positions is a good problem to have.

Looks like a guy who can blow some people up no matter what position he plays.

I think he is a FB all the way. Need to sell him on the idea he would play as a true freshman.

Still seems a little smallish considering we're trying to run a 3-4. FB all the way iyam. Then Norgard stays at MLB?

Yeah, I like him as a FB. Just saying we've had success in the past with that conversion if he grows out of FB. But as long as he can get to the hole in time, I don't think a FB can be too big.

Show him that pass to Harrington. Must get a FB this cycle!

George Hypolite 2.0

Didn't Hypolite come in as a RB/FB around 240 then grew to like 290 and was a force in the middle for the buffs. After sayin that won't mind having him play FB, in goal line situations, we can have both Nogard and Powell in the game and play smash mouth football.

At first I wondered how he could be 250lbs at 6 feet even, even with those giganitc traps. So I figured it must be massive legs, and unless I counted wrong, that was 495lbs he was squatting... wow, the guy can push a pile...

I didn't count the weights, but the caption to the video says he squatted 590 lbs.

He's thick as hell. I watched their playoff game last night against Charter Oak. He's 6' at best, but all of 250+. Moves pretty well for his size. He reminded me of Utah's FB, Asiata.

He may grow into a rabid goldfish II, but let's remember one thing -- Big George came out of hs as a RB/DL. I think the idea all along was to move Hypolite to D.

I'm not saying Powell couldn't do the same thing, but if we are going to a 3/4, or a hybrid version thereof, Powell will prolly need to bulk up to about 3 bills. Reason -- doesn't really have the height and/or wingspan for a 3/4 tackle. If we stay in a 4/3, then go for it all the way.

It seems like there are some limitations here. Either try to bulk him up into a human bull dozer, or hope that he doesn't grow any more and stays a fullback.

Dude is a BEAST. We need a tank leading the way for our smaller backs. We saw what asiata was able to do to our linebackers.

Did not commit to Washington this weekend. They're in his top two with Texas A&M, but he's still taking visits. (Sounds like Nebraska's out.)

Powell says his next stop will be to check out his most recent offer.
“I am thinking it’s a possibility that my next trip will be to check out Colorado,” said Powell.

Hell. Yes. This guy is the type of guy I want in the program. Get him out to Boulder and he'll fall in love.
