New article from Cali High Sports is a good read.

Probably projects as a defensive back:

...has established himself as one of the top athletes in Southern California. Williams packs a ton of strength and surprising speed and agility into a growing, Division 1 ready 6 foot 200 pound frame. He was named All Trinity League as a wide receiver last year, racking up 27 catches and 5 touchdowns but said in college he prefers to play on the defensive side of the football. You won’t hear much complaining from schools about Williams’ request as his physicality, speed and size help make him an elite defensive back.

Hopefully we can get him to come off the coast while staying in the Pac-12:

“I love the competition on the field and that is mainly what I’m looking for at the next level. Obviously academics matter, I want my parents to be comfortable with the school, early playing time will be a factor. I love the West Coast so I’m inclined to play somewhere on the West Coast,” Williams said.

Wants to make a official visit to Boulder and his DB coach is Scotty's dad so it would seem that we have a reasonably good shot.

Looks like a pretty smooth athlete. Cannot argue the competition he faces, that is for sure.

He'd be a bigger CB with that frame; could see him sliding to S as his career progresses

Apparently Embree is visiting his home in a couple of days. Hopefully its to close the deal, which i think is great because this guy looks amazing in his film.

Gotta be a good sign.

I like this kid. great tackler, reads defenses well. liked his film a lot. and the in home and visit this week is good news!

Keith Parker said on gerald thomas's FB he was probably gonna commit and also said jonavaughn was probably going to as well!

Sounds like a Buff lock. It will be interesting to see who gets the last 2 CB spots.

Will we still have a spot if he waits until Monday to decide?

SoCal athlete Jonavaughn Williams told me his in-home with Coach Embree tonight went great, but he still plans to visit SDSU this weekend.

Does that change though if say Walker and Crawley were to take those 2 spots and we still have a shot at Yuri? It wouldn't surprise me if we still took Williams we need a serious upgrade in speed and athleticism.

I'm thinking we got room for a bunch of corners. Not sure we have more than 2 on the roster, maybe 3. We need speed. We need 5 DBs on the field with speed. We need LBs who run like safeties. We need DE's that move like LB's...

This guy looks like he could be one of those guys who can swing between CB and Safety. We have got to get better athletically, bigger, faster DBs would be a good place to start.

I hope we get Yuri, Crawley, and Walker as our 3 CB's this class. It will be interesting to see how it ends up

I would not be surprised if we also took Williams. Yuri is expected to announce at the Army All-American Bowl on Jan 7. Even if Crowley, Walker and Williams all commit before then, there's no way we'll turn Yuri away. But I don't think we'll see any other names pop up unless any of Crowley, Walker or Williams don't come through.

Speed, speed, speed and MORE SPEED. Take it wherever and whenever we can get it. This kid flies.
