True, just sayin. I'll leave it alone in this thread. Class has a hawk like feel other than DL and QB.

So you must have counted in kory, who got 5 Pac12 offers. and Tupou, who got obligatory bcs commit star and isn't really evaluated, and Abron....Oh wait, this guy doesn't have any other BCS offer, so he is hawk guy for sure, like Speedy

Just be consistent, if everyone bashed classes like this with so many 2 stars and projects before, it's all of a sudden a great class. Maybe abron turns out to be barry sanders, but this happens every year. When cu gets 4 star guys the ranking system is great, when it's a class with more than few 2 star guys the ranking system is awful.

1. This class is like HaLk's classes in some ways, but very different in others.
2. The differences are:
a) Even the 2 stars have other legit offers, except for 1 or 2.
b) the love the DL is getting.
c) the guys we offered earlier than everyone else actually get legit offers from big time programs instead of remaining unknown diamond's in the rough.
d) we are actually no accepting commitments. When was the last time that happened?

This is the answer. Guys can (and do) argue ad nauseum about the rating services, but legitimate offers from other BCS conference schools means that some coaching staffs with skin in the game believe that a guy can be a player. To me, that's a better indicator than a ranking from a service who loses nothing if a player doesn't pan out.

Your explanation is the best I've heard. Love the DL class and QB, just thought this staff would be pulling in more top talent to this point. Still time left, just playing devil's advocate.

I think this class is better than schlawkins ' - player speed is improving and height is improving. Other than that it's a crapshoot? they are 17 year old kids - never know what they are going to show up like - I do have to agree with the theory of other coaches are saying they will work out, probably increases odds?

By the way - welcome aboard Mr Mosley (young Buff) !! bring your horns and get ready to compete like never before!!

All of this is correct and relevant in the discussion. Mosley is a 2*, he is also good enough to get an OV and an offer from Bo Pelini who knows a little about talent on the defensive side of the football.

Which brings up the big difference between these kids and Hawks kids. This isn't a bunch of lunch bucket kids who dominated at the HS level by outworking everybody else and having a great attitude, although they may be hard workers and have good attitudes. At a minimum I don't see a kid on the commit list who doesn't look like a PAC level athlete.

Watching last year with Hawks recruits it was amazing how ofter our kids lined up against someone who was simply both bigger and faster than they were. All the effort and attitude in the world don't help you when you man just blew past you and you won't catch up unless he eases up. We still need some difference makers, we still need some guys who have game changing skills, but unlike what we saw with Hawk I don't see any guys on this list who I think of as "to small, to slow, to weak, etc." to compete at this level.

There is a big difference between a 2* who's other offers are from PAC schools, or other FBS schools and a 2* who's best other offer is San Jose state or New Mexico State.

Own up, syko. You went too far comparing this class to one of DII's. Devil's advocate is one thing. What you did is fightin' words.

Yup more top talent after six losing seasons in a row and three 3 or less win seasons in that span...

Yep, but during the season you'll say, we don't have bcs talent to compete for the pac 12...Coach em up!
I know where you are coming from man, and trust me, I WILL be dissappointed if we don't land any really big time recruits (other than Dillon) in this class.

e) The new staff can actually locate Texas on a map.

Well we don't have the talent to compete with the top of the Pac 12 but other than UCLA we didn't fare bad against the rest, although only two of them were wins.

This is the foundational class to get our foot in the door in many places. Hopefully it really pays off with some late big commits and in next year's class. The "it takes time to build relationships" justification has a shelf life.

You made some great points and 3 of those guys have legit bcs offers.

Just trying to gage where everyone is at compared to previous classes. Having said all that, we expected better and we should expect better. We've all said cu has to win, so next season, this staff has to coach them up, have a winning season and keep improving recruiting.

What? Did you watch the Stanford or Oregon games?

"didn't fare bad against the rest"...I seriously wonder what you were watching last season.

Yes Embo is greater than D II, that is about as close as asking whether filet mignon is preferable to a turd sandwich...on to new business.

I'm pretty ****ing sure Oregon and Stanford are top Pac 12 teams.

So we fared bad against Cal, WSU, and Utah? All of which are middle of the road to low Pac 12 teams.

We lost two of those games, so we did not fare well.
