I'm surprised it took them this long, especially considering UCCS got a rec center first. Still stupid though, UCCS didn't have a lap pool doesn't look like this one does either?

gonna be some awesome pre-game vids of hot chicks at the Ralphie pool next year. Too bad it's gonna be completely useless 90% of the school year.

The Rec center really needed this. Does anyone think the buffalo should be facing the other way?

It is cool - but students are gone during the prime-time pooling months.

not a real one. not long enough, right?

It's 25 yards. A regulation pool is 50 meters. It is also not of sufficient depth, but in my mind, that can be forgiven if we have no plans to ever have a d1 swimming, diving, or water polo program. But to not have a 50 meter pool is just stupid, especially if you are doing a major overhaul of the rec center.

This. I'm saddened by the fact that they went with a design that will be largely unusable. I would have preferred something that would have allowed them to reinstitute a swimming/diving program and perhaps a water polo program. This won't help in either of those pursuits.

wait isnt the Rec center expansion from the photo in post 10 gonna allow us to have a larger pool. It looks like it is doubling and therefore would be a 50m pool

Now that we're in the Pac-12, adding swimming, diving and water polo should absolutely be on the table. Certainly not a top priority, but in this conference, something we really ought to do eventually...

This.

This is so stupid. If I recall correctly, this was based upon a vote during student elections wherein the students (5-6 years ago) elected to put in the ralphie shaped "resort-style pool" rather than a real pool. Not that it mattered either way because the pool won't be ready, but it would have been nice for Missy Franklin to be the first CU swimming commit.

It's just short-sighted to have students vote on something like this when it won't have any impact on them.

Can't do a heated pool or the bums will bathe in it.

Wasn't this the plan the students voted on when they approved the funding out of their fees? I believe they had a choice between a functional swimming facility and a party pool. Shockingly, they went with the party pool concept.

Eh, in a few years they will probably tear it out or roof it over. Just a big waste of $ not to do that now tho.

However, with our added elevation compared to the other PAC 12 schools, we could be number one in tanning in no time!

Think about it. Seriously.

If you look through the glass in the building by ralphies head you can see 2 pools. Competition pools would be inside. Especially for boulder.
