Is Scout trying to make a comeback?

I really hope this is where Thorburn is landing and we're just seeing the tip of the iceberg.
Would be nice to see Thorburn stay in the family and also have quality alternatives for paid sites. Don't worry Nik, I plan to continue feeding the AB machine either way :)

Just got word that it's not Thorburn for the Scout site. Someone new.

Apparently the new managing editor is just a guy named James. No last name shared yet. He's in the process of moving to Colorado. After May 1st he'll have more official info to share about the future of the site. Seems like he's just doing a sort of soft open for now. He's mentioned regular content(3 stories per day?), and chat sessions.

I've spoken with him, he's got solid experience in the space, apologized for Ringo, and us having to deal with Henderson..

Scout has never had an entertainment equivalent of the Rivals mainboard, but they do seem to have a much, much stronger scouting presence and a commitment for regional correspondents / scouts to bring content to the relevant board. Its a different approach from Rivals who seems to focus on having the the board moderator generate the bulk of the content with only a tidbit dropped here or there from their scouts outside of the national content they generate. If Scout can actually get some attention going and lure back subscribers it could be an appealing product. The majority of the PAC schools seems to have a stronger presence with their Scout boards with a few notable exceptions.

A healthy Scout would be a welcome addition. It looks like 247 is dying with the well of SCOOP dying with the transition of the coaching staff. Scout has the best west coast recruiting reporting by far.
It sounds like James is fully committed having signed a multi-year contract to run Buffplaybook. And from what I hear, he knows Mac and some of the coaches from their stint at San Jose. He could do a very good job for that site. I'm looking forward to what he can add.

Deal with Henderson? Why, he's the best combo sports/international food writer in the country! How else would you find out about avoiding yak dumplings in Mongolia? Or reading this:

Worst fast food: In-N-Out Burger, 3801 Inglewood Ave., Redondo Beach, Calif., 800-786-1000 begin_of_the_skype_highlighting
numbers_button_skype_logo.png
800-786-1000 FREE end_of_the_skype_highlighting
. Will someone tell me what's the big deal about In-N-Out Burger? My Double-Double had, in order, bun, burger, onion, cheese, burger, lettuce, tomato, relish, bun. It was 670 calories (which adds more heartburn when they put it on the menu above the counter) and I felt every one of them for two days.

That, right there, is the pinnacle of Hendo's career in journalism. It's all downhill from here.

I just got an email offering me a free month of content (I cancelled my subscription several years ago, but I must still be in their database). Seems like they trying to lure back subscribers.

Worst fast food? I mean, I can see some people saying it's overrated, but worst? Like you'd rather roll to McDonald's for a burger worse? **** you Henderson.

He's just bitter because 14 year old girls in leotards don't like middle aged guys with a fast food gut....

also got the email for free content. Definitely in. Must... satisfy... addiction... during... offseason..

This new guy has a ways to go. I think it's great that we'll have more stories and coverage. Not just for fans, but I think it's good for recruiting if there are multiple recruiting sites contacting CU offers to ask about the Buffs instead of just 1 doing it. But he's moving here from Arkansas and has no background in CU (as evidenced by him writing "John" Embree a bunch of times in one of his articles, Coach "Cody" Adams instead of "Klayton" Adams, etc.). It's going to be a process.

That just sounds lazy and unprofessional to me.

I like free....but pretty unimpressed so far. Was hoping to find a DBT-like poster to abuse, but no luck, bitch.

May be the pinnacle, but he was wrong. Has anyone tried Freddy's steakburgers? They are building one near me.
