I would love to hear any feedback on this tape. This is my little brother, and I sure am proud of him.

Welcome!

It's hard to tell exactly where he'd play in college, but I'd venture a guess he'd get a start being a special teams ace. Once he locks down a position, I'd think TE or LB would probably fit him well as he has the size for it.

If the speed is correct he would be an interesting option at LB. With the pass happy offense we face in the PAC having LBs who can cover is a necessity. His experience as a HS QB may give him a big advantage in having a better understanding of what the offense is doing.

Not ironically, this sounds like how his junior season went. Special teams and then moved to defense (primarily safety) and some fullback.
Obviously where he'll stand on the field will have a lot to do with team needs and defensive scheme... Is there any word as to what kind of scheme MacIntyre wants to use for the Buffs?

He mentions a 4-3 front and 4-2-5 given the PAC12 offenses. Blitzing schemes to attack protections. Aggressive defense and special teams mentality. Pistol offense or some derivation thereof.

Hope he has a great senior year. Not a lot of highlights to judge from his junior year. I witnessed his nice hit at the Brighton game. Good luck!

Adam with a good update.

"I have been talking to all the coaches up there at CU and hear a lot from [wide receivers] coach [Troy] Walters, who is the recruiting coordinator. I don't have any expectations going back up there this week, I just want to see how they compete out there on the field."

Stumbled across this the other day..

http://247sports.com/Article/10-recruits-that-will-rise-in-spring-evaluation-period-247Sports-124597

[h=2]Jaeden Graham, S, Englewood (Colo.) Cherry Creek[/h] Film
One of the more interesting prospects in the West, Graham used to be a backup quarterback for his high school program but the 6-3, 210-pound athlete was too athletic to leave on the bench and once he got on the field as a junior, his athleticism flashed in a hurry. Graham will be a physical presence that also has the athleticism to develop extremely quickly at the safety position. Though he’s extremely raw and inexperienced, Graham has some ability reminiscent of Notre Dame defender Zeke Motta.

If you want to see him in person go to a Creek varsity baseball game or a Creek track meet. He does both sports this spring. On a side note one thing you don't need to worry about is size. He is as big as listed, no doubt. He is number 14 on the baseball team.

HCMM is a big proponent of recruiting athletes that play both sides of the ball in high school along with multiple sports. So am I. Get athletes into the program, redshirt them, and develop them for whatever position is the best fit.

That's how we'll build the depth and competitiveness we need, especially now when we're going to be longshots to be able to sign guys that are consensus top prospects at whichever position they specialize at. But even long term, athletes are the foundation of the roster. A great example is the Belichick philosophy of building a horizontal depth chart as well as a vertical one. Your star DE may also be a really good goal line TE. A slot WR may be able to play dime DB when you're closing out a game. Having athletes allows this and also makes your team less susceptible to injuries forcing you to play guys who aren't ready or able.

In short, I hope that we offer a lot of guys like Graham.

Can't remember a team losing because they had to many athletes.

Echo what Nick says. If you bring in guys who are good enough athletes to compete at multiple positions you can cover your weaknesses and guys get to play even if they have somebody ahead of them at their prefered position.

Hey Buffs Fans,
As you know, I'm Jaeden's brother. He's enjoying the recruiting process so far!
247sports has recently given him a 3-star rating.

As for his size, he's a true 6'3" and just weighed in this weekend (Boise St. Junior Day) at 215lbs.

Great! Saw him last season as Papillon's back-up and look forward to see him playing more for Dave Logan and Creek this fall.
Rarely can you go wrong with Creek kids (Sean Tufts, Tom Ashworth, Embree---player not coach), they already have the academics down and now FB players have benefit of Logan's coaching.

Is Jaeden potentially an Addison Gillam, Version 2.0 on "D" ???

86 mph fastball will get some scouts attention for baseball, if he's around the plate.

6'3" 215 is LB size considering he is in High School, running track, etc.

Sorry, but that just isn't true. Guys write that all the time, but it's just hogwash.

A lot of it depends on the coaching but there are some postions that require a higher level of understanding of the big picture and QB is one of them. If a QB is getting any kind of coaching he is spending some time in films with a coach looking at what the offense is trying to accomplish and how the d is reacting.

We like to joke around about Logan but he has proven to be a pretty decent HS coach. I would be willing to bet that he has a better understanding of offense, at least his own, than most guys at other positions of similar age. The big question is can a kid use that knowledge, does it translate into plays on the field.

fify

State champs at the highest level, at three different high schools, two of them public, is more than decent.

We all read what an uncertain, nomadic life asst. college coachs have to put up with to rise to the top of their profession, togehter with long hours and relatively low pay.

Logan makes a very nice living, is widely recognized in the community (lots of ads and the revenue form them too) and can still get his fill of coaching---with accolades therefrom---doing what he's doing, without the crap of being of a college assistant. Talk about the best of all worlds!

Its a very good thing for Graham that he is under Logan's tutelage this year.

(BTB, an 86 mph fastball could get you drafted in the 15th+ round of the MLB draft.......if you're solidly around the plate and a lefty!)

Just heard from Jaeden.
He was offered by New Mexico State. Sounds like they're looking at him at Safety or OLB

Also, Rivals currently has him at 2 stars... I think that might increase with offers once camps start rolling.

Sure, QBs have a higher understanding of whatever offense they learned. But when you play defense, it's about instincts and assignments. I reject fully that a former QB has any sort of advantage on defense. I played both, but DB for a lot longer. The reads I was taught on defense I had no clue occurred on offense. In fact, I was watching guards more than I was watching the QB.

I would have been better if I was taller, quicker, faster, longer-armed, could jump higher, swivel quicker, had more power, etc. Having been a former QB just didn't help me. I even recall telling a reporter it did help me. He wanted to hear it. So I confirmed it. Playing touch football for 11 years in the front yard with my older brothers and their friends helped me.

Taking 400 snaps at safety is better experience for a safety than taking 4M snaps as a QB..... Just saying.

Apparently went to a Stanford camp awhile back and practiced at LB and was really impressive.
