All in One DirecTV Hates Pac-12 Network Thread (Was Larry Scott Thread)

Blame Larry Scott for that.

And how stupid is Larry Scott to think that these ridiculous ads (good job wasting money on that Larry) he's coming up with are going to do damage to DirecTv? The guy is living in some weird fantasy land. You got a niche channel douche bag and DirecTV isn't ever going to go away so eventually at some point you are going to need to get a deal done with them. Drop the nonsense Larry. Get the ****ing deal done and don't show your stupid ass face on TV until its done.

We should blame Larry Scott for you stealing?

What's going on in this world? Snow has a real job and a mortgage and Jimmy is trying to get other people to pay his way through life.
Reality has a way of crushing preconceptions, given enough exposure :smile2:

Might be getting a few wrinkles in their canned response?

Thank you for writing us back about getting PAC 12.

We have been in discussions for several months with Pac-12 Network and hope they will continue to work toward an agreement.

If Pac-12 Network would allow us to make their channel available only to those customers who want to pay for it, the network would already be available on DIRECTV. But, as it stands now, the price is much too high to accept their demand that we make it available to all customers, some of whom will have to take on this unnecessary cost for a channel they do not want.

We will continue to work with Pac-12 Network to resolve this for the benefit of both fans and non-fans alike. Until then, the majority of Pac-12 football games featuring the most popular teams with national title implications remain available to all DIRECTV customers through the ESPN family of networks and ABC Sports, FOX Sports and FSN, FX, CBS Sports and CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports and NBC Sports Network and several other regional services.

You may visit directvpromise.com for more information.

As for other competitor's deal, we are unable to comment on that since we do not know the details of their agreement.

Again, thank you for writing.

Sincerely,

Ok gang...

As i think I mentioned earlier, my super-genius plan to deal with the directTV no Pac-12 situation was to add comcast to one TV in my house and keep direct tv on the rest. I checked all over the internet, and questioned the Comcast sales rep like a prosecuting attorney to make sure that (since I live in Oregon) that even without Comcast as my internet provider, that I would be able to watch all the regional feeds online as long as I had signed up for the Pac-12 network on comcast Tv.

so...

The very nice Comcast install guy arrives today. While he's hooking things up, he says "Uh, I am pretty sure you can't access the Pac-12 regional feeds online without a comcast internet account". He's nice enough to call FOUR different people at comcast on his internal phone line to confirm this...NONE of them could do so. They really didn't know and couldn't say (he told me the sales people will say whatever they need to say to make the sale...and guys like him often bear the brunt when it doesn't turn out to be true).

Nonetheless, because we can't get ultimate confirmation one way or the other, I tell him to go ahead with the install. Before he leaves, I say "Let's just make sure nothing has screwed up my directtv service". He said "I didn't do anything that COULD screw it up"...but we check. Now NOTHING connected to Direct tv is working! He puts everything back the way it was and takes off the comcast stuff...STILL broken! We call directtv...they try to help via the phone...but can't fix things...so say they will have to come out to my house...and since they didn't break it, it will cost me $50!

Then the directtv gal says..."Let me see if I can save you that money....hey...you are due for free upgrades on your DVRs. I will put you down for that...not charge you for the service call...and they can fix the problem when they are hooking up your new (better) DVRs". THIS IS WHY I STAYED WITH DIRECTTV.

So...as of now...no tv service for a week (my kids are PISSED!)...and no comcast (so no Pac-12 network). But, as the Comcast guy said as he left "Hey, I don't think you were going to be able to access the Pac-12 regional feeds online without comcast internet service anyway".

Wow. What a day. So...so much for my genius plan to get the Pac-12 network via non-traditional methods.:bang:

Again, unless its something funky streaming through Xfinity, you should be able to access every single regional feed regardless of internet provider. People were watching online all last season using a variety of ISPs and someone else's TV account to log in.

I don't understand what the Comcast installer could have possibly done to screw things up. He is right, he shouldn't have touched anything to do with DTV. Very strange. Sorry for your hassles.

I got the "we are not privy to the arrangements with other providers" response. I told them to stop insulting me, that they know exactly what the other providers have done.

just got a $30.00 reduction on my monthly bill at directv for 12 months...hope they never settle so next year I go for $50 reduction!

How did you swing that? I haven't gotten anything out of DTV other than a bunch of bull****.

Re: Larry Scott: No DirecTV for Pac12Network this year

Call and cancel, they will put you through the retention department.

"exactly" you do have to sit their and listen to the song and dance how pac 12 network doesn't show any good games etc I just fired back that "my team" is a bottom feeder that will be on the pac 12 network all the time.... but you must tell them you are cancelling ( even though I had no intention)

That's what I did last night. The first guy I got on the line was only going to give me $30 off per month but still charge the full price for Sunday Ticket. So I hung up and called back and asked for cancellations right away and they upgraded my programming package since I had an old one, which was an increase of $4 per month. But he gave me $30 off per month for a year and also gave me Sunday Ticket Max for half price of $147, and then he waived that $147 fee so I am getting Sunday Ticket for free.

Tough luck Larry, I'm not leaving DTV.

I do not know what you guys are doing? but all DTV gave me (and I am pretty good on the phone with these reps. I was once a telemarketer for spare change back in the day). Anyways, I got $15 a month off my bill for 6 months and like 6 crappy movie (in the 550 to 560 channels).

oh well - better then nothing

not sure this means anything but I have had directv since the start.... they started at $20 off and I told them that will not cover my bar tab at the sports bar to watch the games

that is huge. longer you are with them, the more they want to keep you

UPDATE: So I just got off the phone with DTV again. Threatened to cancel service. Reminded Peter (nice guy) about all the games going to be missed, cost of going to games, bar tabs,etc... So, I am getting a free Genie, a free mini?? $15 off my bill and $10 off my HD service for 24 months.
This is not going to help me watch the Buffs, but at least I had some leverage to get some free / deals. Thanks Larry Scott... I truly think this is on them (PAC12) - DTV said they would sell just the channel to those that want it and PAC12 channel wants everyone to pay that has service. I for one would be willing to pay additional $ for the PAC12 channel if offered. btw - been DTV customer since their first year in service and on auto-pay (which helps)

that is what logic would dictate, but I have been a customer less than 2 years, would have to pay a $360 penalty to leave and they offered me $35 a month plus free red zone for the season.

has anyone had any luck getting something beside red zone, like hbo or a reciever. Don't really watch very much NFL football, so it would be useless for me.

lots of people paying DTV to not watch their buffs.

...and their trojans, and bruins, and utes, and wildcats, sun devils, ducks, etc. this thing is a lot bigger than a few folks on allbuffs calling dtv and threatening to cancel service. bottom line is people don't care that much about getting the pac 12 network; actions make that abundantly clear. with that being the case, the folks at the pac 12 may end up being the ones who have to flinch.

While I agree, taking these freebies is cutting into DirecTV profits.

And I'm really starting to doubt that DirecTV is going to be the only ones with Sunday Ticket come 2014.
I want shiny new facilities sooner, not later. damn you all!

Sheeesh people. Let the freebies go, and tell DTV go go jump in a lake.

no offense but EVERY PROVIDER is getting into more and more financial squabbles with various channels.... I get my packer nfl team at home every weekend plus dish has cutoff amc b4 ( my wife would have gone nuts) and has a upcoming battle with espn looming ( I don't have a cable option) I attend every buff home game so we are just talking about road games which not all will be on the pac 12 network
