Does ESPN College Game Day still come to Boulder for UofA game?

Seemed to be a lock. Now, not so much. I recall the other option for ESPN was to go to Stanford for their game against UCLA. Do the Buffs hold serve at home enough to make it seem like a hard battle for UofA? And does UofA win so often that it's too compelling not to come to Boulder?

I think we have to stay ranked. I do that we have to keep winning.

Not my biggest concern at the moment. If they decide to go to Stanford ... **** them. We'll survive.

Seriously, IMO our focus should be on Thursday's game, then Saturday's. Then go on from there. **** ESPN.

Sort of my sentiment.

It would make a good story if we can manage to win some conference games. I wouldn't count us out against them at home.

When will ESPN decide?

Why does everyone think we are suddenly not going to win some conference games. Jesus Christ guys. Yea it sucks we lost our best player and the heart of the team, but its not the end of the world. With the exception of last year this year's team is still one of the if not the most talented team we have had since Chauncey's years. We will still make the tournament. We will still be competitive especially at home. I am more of optimistic guy than most of you, but I think that is realistic. Why make statements like our season's over? Has football been such a failure that after one thing goes wrong we declare we are toast. As a fan, that is not fun at all. It is not fun to just think we are going to lose every game. So why be a fan then if you have no hope for the team you are cheering for.

Yes, and a solid contributer....in the same game. I think many of us are feeling a but bummed after all of the optimism and the great start. We will still win games, but our hopes were so much more.

Right. I meant to include Fletcher. But yea I am really bummed too. I was so upset about it I couldn't even enjoy the Broncos game and the UCLA game I was so pumped up for has became a little blah to me. I guess maybe I should just stop reading because even though all the comments are mostly spot on, it is like adding salt to an open wound right now.

As a fan, I put my focus into whatever I find interesting atm. I'm sure the players are going to be incredibly dialed in Thursday. Count me as one who believes in a wounded team being a dangerous team.

Yes, **** ESPN. However, we need those SOBs & Game Day coming for the first time for BB would be huge for a variety of reasons. I'm still holding out hope.

I've already addressed this but I still think they do come to Boulder. I certainly think it's less likely however. Remember they aren't just picking Boulder or Palo Alto, they are picking a game to showcase, the game they don't choose goes into a less desirable slot. I think our attendance over the next month is more important to show that we still care despite our best player being out. Also, let's not forget we're playing Arizona. If they remain a top 5 team, let alone #1, that's something.

If we have to stay ranked, would they pick a Stanford team (potentially) going nowhere and unranked UCLA team over a top 5 UofA team regardless of how we do?

Probably. We are going to lose a few more games, but we aren't now suddenly fighting to avoid last in the Pac. We're still a capable team that will win a lot in Boulder. It's the road that worries me.

It makes for a good story when we outperform expectations. If we suck royally from here on out, we can blame it on Spencer being injured. So it gives the fans a cop-out.

Ha, it's funny to me for all the ESPN hate, how much everyone wants it and what a big deal it is.

Bilas and Katz have been front and center for a long time pushing for Gameday to come to Boulder....I don't see that changing unless we go winless between now and then and that won't happen

I imagine that kind of doomsday scenario is what it take. Even with that, this could turn into which road team do they want to showcase -- UofA or UCLA?

where'd you get that? of course i want gameday, doesn't mean that 99% of ESPN programming isn't a festering boil.
If you dislike ESPN so much, what's the big deal if they come? Shouldn't we want them to stay away? Who'd want to be associated with such a terrible product?

Of course it will be better for the Buffs. Just funny to me, the "I hate ESPN, I'll never watch ESPN, F*ck ESPN... but ESPN please come to Boulder" attitude.

I think you should email ESPN about it. Remind them we lost our best player and probably are going to be struggling the rest of the season. Tell them they may want to rearrange travel plan.

You know, just out of curiosity

Fans actually show up for Colorado home games. I think that has to be considered for the GD decision.
Yeah sure, but if the season goes south will they keep showing up? It's not like CU has a fanbase that has been showing up for years. Even this year, we've seen a lack of enthusiasm as demonstrated by comments in this thread. It's not just a quantity issue but a quality one as well, CU needs to show more than ever the home court advantage of the KEG now that were short a core player. Now the Stanford's fanbase isn't great either. But if they have to choose between two uninspired fanbases, they'll choose the more compelling matchup. They might choose the more compelling matchup to begin with because unlike the football version, they are always showcasing the game in basketball. I still think it's CU's to los like I previously said, but I don't think it's as big of a slam dunk as it once was.

Like the committee, I'm sure ESPN will be paying more attention to our home attendance, both in terms of numbers and enthusiasm. I really hate to think that an injury could derail GameDay coming here, but making the Tournament -- which we were just talking about seeding previously -- is more paramount at this point.

Losing SD obviously hurts but from an AZ fan's perspective CU is still better than most of the teams in the PAC 12 and a near lock to make the NCAAs. It's been a great homecourt recently and the games between AZ and CU recently have been intense and close. UCLA-Stanford may appeal more to East Coasters who don't know **** about West Coast Hoops but fact is both those schools may be unranked by the time that comes around and chances are CU and Arizona are still top 25 teams. I don't see a huge decline for you guys right now. Losing SD caps long term goals for this season but you can still finish top 4 in the PAC and earn a top 5-7 seed. Here's hoping your fans keep showing up... now and in the future. If you want a good program, it begins with fans filling seats every game of every year.
