*** Official 2015 UCLA @ Colorado Basketball Game thread ***

Definitely liked the ball movement. Huge to beat UCLA (even if they are down mightily) without Josh Scott

That Alford kid was horrible. 2-16, 0-9 3pt. Calling Dan Hawkins, nepotism much?

I think he's averaged 18 ppg this year. Given their schedule, that's impressive. He's good, had a bad night. I'd like to believe that's our defense, but some kids have an off night. Glad it was tonight...

Edit: 'ville beat me to it.

Had trouble watching the game so I channel surfed until about 8 minutes left.

Crowd looked and sounded decent on tv.

XJ showed up when the team was down. Hope he builds on this. Gordon's defense was awesome in the final moments and he deserves credit for his touch at the ft line.

Was it me, or did the refs blow the whistle every time we breathed on Alford? If true, how does he get away with those forearm shivers on drives?

That was some kind of line from Gordon tonight: 11pts, 14 reb, 7 blocks. Buffs were 21-25 from the stripe.

And that was a nice shot in the arm when XJ slid down to the 4.

He's not as good as Tony Parker though

If UCLA had fans I would be really enjoying their meltdownm.

You like many of our fans are confusing football and basketball. UCLA has plenty of fans, history, and breeding - they are very much the real deal. Thier basketball history makes our football history look like a joke.

XJ may have "only" had 14, but it was his fire that propelled us to this win.

We finished 41-41 on the boards against the #12 rebounding team in the nation without Scott.

Our hustle was fantastic. We wanted this more.

Probably not a good sign for UCLA when their SB Nation site has a headline for the game that has the tag line "#Daddyball Continues", lol

Wes got off to a slow start, but he ended up having his best game as a Buff. The way he protected the rim brought this one home.

11 points, 14 rebounds, 7 blocked shots

Again, I was taking a shot at their BASKETBALL attendance (I am aware this is the BASKETBALL forum). I am aware they are the most storied basketball program probably ever. Which makes it even sadder that they fall in the second half of PAC-12 BASKETBALL attendance every year.

Teach. Need Wes to assert himself now on.

Gonna preface my post saying that I'm not a bb fan, really.

Points:

1. Wes has the tools, but isn't there mentally yet. We should be hitting him up in the post and have him kick it out if it's not there more often. The team lacks a true center.
2. When Ski and XJ were out of the game no one wanted to shoot. When they were in they were the only ones to.
3. Ski at times forces shots, but the dude will go down as one of CU best players ever. He's hated on because he's not a 1st round talent, imo. He won us that game and except for the alley-op with a full shotclock (or near it) he played out of this world.
4. The turning point of the game was when XJ took the game over and dunked it with 7 minutes left. The crowd was really loud, especially when you consider a lot of students are still not around. The crowd stayed loud for the duration of the game, minus the last 45s or so. Being that this is the first game I've seen in person in a long time (and I had killer seats shoutout to absinthe) I was impressed. Saw them in the Burque when we made the dance and was impressed with how well we traveled. Damn. Felt good to be a Buff fan for once.
5. Feels like the team is playing pickup bb at times. Good defense, seemingly bad defensive rebounding (at least for a stretch) and we can't inbound pass off of a press to save our lives (this should have been fixed after the UNLV/Bailer games in the tourney). Without Ski this team would be awful.

Wes was a force tonight. Absolutely dominated Tony Parker. That's why the Buffs won. Ski is gonna Ski. It totally baffles me how he can be so good for stretches and then nearly throw it all away by being a dumbass.

Other things:
XJ had a tremendous second half.
Tory Miller gave some fantastic minutes in the first half.
JHop is a freakish athlete and was very good defensively in Alford.
The other Alford on the team, he doesn't even warm up, he just stands there and shakes hands with guys. That made me laugh.
Honestly, don't think either team is that good, but Alford might be in trouble. He might have hawkinsed himself.
