We've talked enough about it we've heard the story lines from Booker not playing, to Dustin Thomas leaving, to a reported promise of some Brett Brady action. The first round of the CBI is here! Welcome to the 5th straight year of Buffs post season basketball. I dont know a damn thing about Gardner-Webb other than what I just learned on ESPN and KenPom. They did win 20 games and had a winning record in conference which is more than we can say for ourselves this year. Vegas has us as 12 point favorites but that has a lot of variables in it: how many will show up? who will play? etc.

There are a ton of stories in this one, as we know Ski and Dustin wont play which means an extra 45 minutes of PT are up for grabs. The Camera is reporting Brett Brady and Stalzer will see some of those, who else will?

We speculate here: http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/105763-CBI-Line-up-speculation-thread
& here: http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/105766-Dustin-Thomas-has-left-the-program

AllBuffs roll-call: http://www.allbuffs.com/showthread.php/105762-CBI-Roll-Call-Wednesday-March-18-7pm-MT

So here is the little I have gleaned from some quick internet research:

- There are some rumblings Gardner-Webbs top scorer wont play, this is unverified and knowing our history not true.
- They play no defense, as in only Wazzu plays worse defense than them on our schedule.
- They do not protect the rim, and are below average at defending the three.
- Tyrell Nelson and Jerome Hill are their go-to guys if healthy and playing I have no qualms about Scott handling Nelson.
- They play quick, will look to get into transition, but turn the ball over a bunch.
- They shoot the ball reasonably well especially from range.
- They Play man defense

So with those notes this is a game Ski would have thrived in, I expect Josh to play well and put up big numbers if he plays much. We'll need to limit them in transition and avoid the wide-open threes to ensure victory.

FYI, 700 tix were sold as of last night according to howell.

This game is a mike bohn special he's have 5k there by hook or by crook (without regard for our cost).

Edit - as an aside after doign a little research on these guys so long as line-up shuffling doesnt **** us up too much this should be a fun game to watch.

Gardner-Webb won @ Purdue and beat Clemson on a neutral court this season, FYI. Good offense, good passing, horrible defense.

Sounds like they went away from what was working for them early although the scores on their results sheet dont really bear that out. An article on them:

Just went looking for that Clemson they were up 13 w/8 min to play and choked it away capping it off with one of their players pulling a Chris Weber. The purdue win was pretty convincing though.

Where will the link to watch the game be? PAc-12.com?

I hope Dom steps up.

Their top scorer is also not playing in this tournament. Really unless CU gets fancy on the perimeter. Our bigs should dominate the paint. This should be an easy win.

Also I would anticipate that with open seating, there will be a decent walk up crowd. The web portal is charging some kind of service fee, so I have heard of some just going to the window and paying the $15 there.

Looking at Webbs schedule, granted Purdue was much better at seasons end, this team played solid Bball. Especially in their OOC schedule.

I am surprised at the line being that big. Expecting a closer game. Hope our head is right, and youngsters are ready to elevate.

Go Buffs

(*thanks for the stream link 14er, I used up my rep on you apparently :)

I understand that G-W doesn't have much size. Seems like Josh (or maybe even Tory) should have a field day.

Buffs should be favored against any of the 15 other teams, particularly at CEC. Should be a 5-game sweep. But then again, buffs should have won 22 games and been in the NCAA. Are there odds on the CBI tournament winner?

GW plays terrible defense and are not big. This is a game we should win by 10+

how many points is the tini jinx worth: -8? almost negates our home court advantage

Can I stream on Xbox connection? Larger TV :). Otherwise desktop time. Thx in advance

Looking at the box score on ESPN... has Dom really not seen the court in the first 9 minutes?

Mark Johnson just said odds are we'll be going on the road for the next game if we win tonight (@ Pepperdine or Seattle)
