2015 NCAA Tournament Thread

Your wish may very well be granted tomorrow. Izzo in March. Not overly confident.

UVA is sitting pretty if they can survive Izzo-which will be no easy task.....that game will be a barnburner. UK played better today (they were engaged for forty minutes)....Give the Cincy coaches credit for the way they managed the game.

Absolutely. *If* Virginia gets by MSU, their chances for the Final Four are pretty good. Forgive me for not being pleased about facing Izzo once again, especially so early (Izzo has a ridiculous 12-1 record in the Round of 32). You know there's a 99 percent chance the MSU you get in March is going to be a few gears up from what they were in the regular season. Fortunately for UVA, Justin Anderson appears to be nearing full health in the nick of time. You look at UVA boards and they're pissed about facing MSU so soon, while MSU fans are pissed about facing Virginia. Just a sense this game is happening a round early based on who is involved. Virginia is favored by 5.

San Diego State could be a rugged test for Duke. Think Duke's firepower probably overcomes it eventually, but SDSU may hang around if they can make it their type of game. Duke favored by 9.5

West Virginia and Maryland should be a lot of fun. For those who don't know, these two schools hate each other. Both claim the title to top couch burning university, and it's a matter of deep pride among the two favorite schools of choice for out of state bros from Jersey. Game is a pick 'em.

Dayton attempts to be "Cinderella". You have to figure they can give Oklahoma a run for their money with the game being in Columbus. I'm not wildly high on the Sooners, personally. OU favored by 4.5

Kansas and Wichita State should be fantastic. Have to admit I'm a little surprised to see KU only favored by 1.5.

Iowa and Gonzaga, who knows. Iowa is all over the place and Gonzaga hasn't faced a team of Iowa's caliber (not saying much) since December. Zags favored by 6.5.

Northern Iowa and Louisville is a weird one. A lot of people think Louisville is toast since Chris Jones left the team a few weeks ago, but they've been pretty dangerous since he left (including a win over UVA). Not sure Louisville is as bad as the UCI game has many thinking. You know UNI is going to give this everything they've got. UNI is actually favored by 2.5 in this one.

Oregon/Wisconsin seems to be the favorite pick for best chance at a blowout. I expect Wisconsin to win, but I think Oregon got murdered by Arizona in the Pac12 final by such a huge margin due to more exhaustion than anything else. Oregon has a lot of confidence right now. The problem is Wisconsin may pick Oregon's porous D to pieces while limiting what the Ducks can usually get away with on offense. Badgers are favored by 12.

The ND/Butler game was rough around the edges but really a blast to watch. As for MSU/Va, yeah it's really hard, and unwise, to bet against Izzo in the tournament(s). I'd like to see SDSU give Duke a game.

busy day yesterday, so I worked out the DVR and just got caught up on basketball.

ACC 9-0
Pac12 7-0

ND/Butler was great, NCSU a pleasant surprise.

kinda sucks that 3 remaining ACC teams in same bracket, but that's the way it goes. Those schools would've been bitching if they weren't in the East.

Now, for today

The Big East is a joke these days. No way did villanova deserve a 1 seed. They check out in the 2nd round as usual. And this weekend's games are the 2nd round.

This is a physical ass game, both these teams play very good D. Crazy little thing they said about Justin Anderson, he first dunked in 5th grade. That's nuts lol.

Izzo is just a mastermind. UVA had this habit all season of starting nearly every game like **** and you can't do that and get away with it against a team like MSU. As much as I tried to convince myself otherwise, this team was not the same since Anderson went down on Feb 7th. Michigan State is likely Final Four bound, IMO.

I hope they make the final four. That's where I have them going.

They needed more out of Brogdon and their other scorer, that's for sure. Michigan St. is tough in the tournament, no shame in losing to them, Izzo is a great coach.

WTF am I doing picking against Izzo in the Tourney.

Dude, many moons ago, I picked MSU to lose in the first round, and of course they made a deep run. A man much wiser than myself (my dad) told me to always pick Izzo to go deep into the tourney. I have followed this sage advice ever since; you should too. I got them in the final 4 this year.

1and 2 out. Ozzie one heck of a coach and his teams seem to always rise late in the season. Time to nix Barkley and smith. Go back to the NBA.

I don't care what seed they are, If you draw Izzo in the dance, it sucks for you.

Yup. In 2003 when CU as the 10 drew State at the 7, I was not happy. Still chose CU because I'm stupid, but I knew I was being stupid.

And of course they made the Elite 8 that year also.

Can you imagine what he would do at one of the schools that fill up on 5* kids every year like a Carolina or a Kansas. Not saying he is a bad recruiter, the contrary, but he is a guy who always gets the best out of his players, especially at tourney time.

I had the impression that schools were kind of backing off of Pope during his recruitment. If so, it was a mistake.

Mich St winning helps out my bracket. Too bad I had Villanova and Iowa State going deep (I'm still 93th percentile tho)

tough loss Cville. I was rooting for you. Now let's see Louisville get it done for the conference -- five teams in the S16 will still be respectable.

Seeing Wichita State and Gonzaga do well is fun. It's hard to label them Cinderellas like a one-year wonder like FGCU or George Mason but still seeing a school that doesn't sponsor football matching up against a team whose fans expect Sweet 16 as a bare minimum every year makes March exciting.

Wow ... WSU just put on a clinic on how to break a press and score.

Maybe Tad should consult with them in the off-season?

It is really easy to cheer for WSU. They play hard and smart and are bending Kansas over
