Dustin Thomas has left the program

I had to look him up to see whats going on with Preston these days, as he is my favorite bench player ever (Ben Mills coming in second). He's a local math teacher either teaching at Arvada High School or Red Rocks Community College.

If you are itching for a little Preston Slaughter action, please enjoy:

he looks exactly like Nate.

Thanks for sharing that! Made my day.

Class move by DT tonight... Much respect for him. Would have been easy to blow off the game, but he did the right thing.

Not really sure why people are upset about this. 4 points and 2 rebounds per game is not exactly tough to replace. His numbers are also only slightly improved from last year. I wouldn't say I'm happy about him leaving but this is hardly much of a loss either. Plus given the struggles of this team some roster turnover is probably a good thing. I just wish we had made better use of his scholarship.

This thought just occurred to me: Is DT possibly seeing some writing on the wall vis a vis George King? If King is tearing it up in practice, maybe he gets the minutes that DT was getting this year.

Would be nice if that's what it is.

More likely: Tad told DT that his minutes will come at the 4 rather than the 3 while at CU. DT wants to play the 3 (where we have Fletch and XJ) and also knows that he's not likely to start over Wes at the 4.

I'm not sure where King plays into this at all.

King fills DT's role as "the one guy coming off of the bench who we know will shoot the ball".

King will be a fun storyline to watch.

I'm not as high on him as some here are, but honestly the team could have used a little of his mentality off of the bench this year. We won't have any shot clock violations with King out there and sometimes that alone will push the other guys to be more aggressive.

Still don't like the King redshirt. Tad needs his 'recruiting misses' to leave the program or move quickly through 4 years. Like stocks, don't hang on to poor performers.

We should have cut you and yourstock June 2011

It's smart to judge a player after freshman year games and run him off immediately despite huge promise from many practice reports.

It was there for everyone to see freshman year. He was the least competant of the four freshmen that year, of which that class has been a disappointment and significantly responsible for 15-17.

Dustin must be finishing up the semester. I saw him on campus yesterday while taking my daughter back after Spring Break.
