the sleeping monster that is the Colorado Buffaloes is not yet fully awake but it is in the process of shaking off the hibernation.

the monster spent the off-season getting bigger, faster, stronger, and smarter. the metrics back this up.

yes, the talent is down from its historical highs. yes, the talent gap has narrowed substantially between the Buffs and the ewes.

but, across the board, CU has many more athletes. and, i believe they are properly prepared for game 1. they will be more physical, more confident, and they will execute the schemes that the staff wants to run. there will be errors. the team is very young. there will be growing pains as the monster continues to wake.

let me say this unequivocally, however: the 2007 Buffs have more than enough to lay the wood to the sheep.

CU will win and there won't be any doubt at the end. i suspect we've got some heartbreak ahead of us this season, but not in game 1.

GO BUFFS!

Agree. I think they will be ready for thisone. While execution will have some issues, I truly beleive they will pour it all on the line and win this one. I have said many times that I expect this seaason we will win some we shouldn't and lose some we shouldn't - just a fact of so much youth.

Overall - it will be a successful season - and we are just laying the groundwork for 2-3 years out.

I'll say this, in the last few years my expectations have been dashed in this game. Even when we've won, its been a battle. I owe that more to the Buffs slip into mediocrity that I do to any great improvement in the rammies. This whole scandal thing and subsequent malaise in the CU program is the biggest contributor. Well, the "scandal" is done. The sleep walk is over. GO BUFFS!!!

Pretty confident considering your QB has taken a grand total of 0 NCAA game snaps. Maybe its just drunk posting.

I am feeling the confidence grow. Many have us down because of last year. That is the past and I see Hawk's persona taking shape on this team. More speed, more strength, bigger playbook, more athletes, another year in the system. Little brother will feel the full wrath of pent up Buff frustration from not finishing games last year. This one will not be close and Hawk will not take a knee. He will run it up to make a point and build confidence in this young team. The playmakers are there, young yes, but they are in Boulder. The Buffs win this game in a good old fashion ass whipping!

well, let's see... on the eve of the last sheep game, the starting qb apparent quit, leaving us with an option qb in bjax. we'd just lost to montana freaking state and the team was in total disarray. it was the worst executing Buff team i have seen since the very early 80s. and, despite all that the Buffs lost by 4 ****ing points.

your sheep have lost, what, 7 straight? your star player is coming off a totally wrecked knee. your o-line is young and small. your d-line is young and small.

yeah, i am pretty confident. you are going to get an ass whupping, son.

First off, both of our lines are very similar in size and experience.

Your team is coming off a 2 win season. Talk all you want about what magic dust Hawk had them sniffing this offseason, they are still coming off a 2 win season. Both teams had disappointing seasons last year.

Im not gonna say CSU is gonna win, I think it will be a close game, as it has been the past few years. Anyone that thinks its gonna be a blow it is just talking out of their ass.

Coming from someone who knows how to talk out of their ass, I guess you are right

Yuck it up, yuppie, while you can

Yuppie...hmmm, never been called that before. I guess thanks  We will see what happens. You think it will be close and I think that the Buffs are flying way under the radar. We will see who is right in a week and 10 hours or so. Until then, keep blastin away back asswords country ****! Bet you have been called that before!

Just making an educated guess based on what your location says :wink2: And no, never been called that, never lived in the country either.

you will see soon enough. the Buff coaches are going all "lou holtz" in their public comments. that means one of 2 things, either: (a) the team REALLY REALLY sucks and they are trying to temper expectations or (b) they are laying in wait and they know they've got a team that is going to be MUCH better.

as the resident sheep humping fecal fiend, you undoubtedly want to believe it is (a). but, objective facts point to (b). the public scrimmages and practices have been, for the most part, crisp, efficient, and productive. the off-season s/c work has been remarkable. basically, all evidence points to the staff doing a sandbag routine. so, the conclusion is that your sheep are about to get freaking ROLLED.

that's the story and i am sticking to it.

So you're betting all your ****ty returning players are better than CU's young players? Because that's basically what this game boils down to.

I dont put much weight in scrimmages. When you are up against your own team its hard to tell if one side of the ball is that good, or the other is that bad.

Maybe you are right that Hawk has a dynamite team that is gonna come out this season and kick some ass, but I dont see that as the most likely situation. Between injuries, suspetions and inexperience, I expect the RMS to be a challenge for the Buffies. But then again, they did waste a whole day to go to Invesco and invision their victory :wow::lol:

Like I said in the prediction thread:
The beginning of the end for Lubejob. A young, green Buffs team that should be "struggling to recover" from last season completely destroys the sheep by playing with passion and guts and using an innovative game plan that leaves the lammie team and staff completely dumbfounded. Everyone senses the message in the sheep's loss - the game has passed Sonny by and he is to old and out of touch to be competitive going forward. This confidence shattering loss starts a season long landslide which ends with Lubejob's resignation. End of an era, no more trashmouth.

Buffs 57
Lammies 10

(CU plays the 4th quarter with only 2 upperclassmen. Lammies get their sole TD on the last play of the game.)

Mark it down.
