It's early, but how do you rate the north?

From what you've seen? I think it's up for grabs for Mizzery, KSU and CU. It should be interesting. I want to see how KU does against someone other than Lawrence High before I make them higher. I don't know if Nu will win more than three games left on their schedule (dead serious), and ISU is the worst.

1. Mizzery
2. Kansas St.
3. Colorado
4. Kansas
5. Nebraska
6. Iowa State

Actually, I seriously doubt NU wins more than 2 more games on their schedule, maybe none at all, their D is baaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad!!

I think KSU has the best shot right now to take it. Their D against Texas was solid and their QB is progressing very nicely. How many returns (int, punt and kickoff) did they have? 3. Ridiculous.

Missery has the best conference QB, but their D is suspect and they still have Pinkel as their head coach.

KU hasn't played anyone yet. The North is going to have some GREAT games next week: NU vs MU and KSU vs KU. I think MU and KSU win, setting up a very important game the week after against KSU.

We have a very good chance at winning it. Cody is clutch and has nerves and balls of steel, but being a Redshirt Freshmen he's going to have to play as well, if not better, in the upcoming games. He still stares down his receivers and if OU had intercepted just one or two more, and they were close, OU would have won. Our team is still young and if we did win North :):) that would be a huge accomplishment. However, young teams struggle with away games, so the KSU game might be the make-or-break game for us in the North. Luckily, MU and NU (even if they are "down" at 5-1 and 1-0 in conference play they'll play tough; rivals do that and they are still in the hunt) play us on our turf. I want to see an NU beat down in Folsom to send the Seniors off with a bang on and a respectable bowl. The next few years bodes very well for this team. I'm excited.

Either way, the North looks like it's back! I'd rather have stronger competition and not win it, than when we did and got slaughtered in the championship game!

Right now I'd say CU and KSU when you look at who has played who and the outcome of those contests. MU should also compete if they can avoid their late-season collapse they've become known for.

I'd rank it like this;
1)KSU
2) MU
3) CU
4) NU
5) KU
6) ISU

A better question might be how to rank the South. Based on the games Ive seen, it'd be

1)OU
2) OSU
3) TT
4) UT
5) aTm
6) Baylor

OU has looked pretty good until yesterday, but the rest of the south has looked no better than mediocre all year.

ksu has a really hard schedule left.

ku is a pretender and will lose a lot of games. so will isu.

mizzery has a reasonably easy track left and they've got athletes. the pinkel factor could hurt them.

the fuskers are in some trouble, but they'll hang around even with their ****ty defense.

CU has the best defense in the north, but we can't match the athletes at mizzery and nu.

so, ku and isu = out of it.

and i am going to go ahead and say ksu is unlikely b/c of schedule.

that leaves CU, mizzery, and the fuskers to fight it out. we've got a good chance. hell, let's make it easy and sweep the north games--- do that and the rest is academic.

GO BUFFS!.

Nebraska is all smoke and mirrors. A big time meltdown is about to happen in fuskerland, similar to Notre Lame right now.

I still don't know WTF we have in CU, so I certainly can't rate the rest of the North. I'd say it's:

1) CU, KSU, NU, KU, MU
6) ISU

NU and Mizzou look like they have no D. KSU has a QB, not much else on O. Who the **** knows about KU--I don't think you can count them out just because they've sucked for a decade. CU the last two weeks would be a shoe-in, the two weeks prior--not so much.

In two weeks I will be able to guarantee who the champion of the North will be.

Kansas' (4-0) opponents have a combined record of 4-15.
Missouri's (4-0) opponents have a combined record of 9-11.
Nebraska's (4-1) opponents have a combined record of 12-10.
Kansas State's (3-1) opponents have a combined record of 12-8.
Colorado's (3-2) opponents have a combined record of 14-9.
Iowa State's (1-4) opponents have a combined record of 15-10.

Edit: I haven't researched most of the other opponents' opponents' record, but remember that of those 9 loses that our opponents have, 4 of them are from one opponent (CSU). That is strength of schedule. Damn.

I'm impressed with K-State's defense and special teams but I haven't seen much on their offense other than knowing that Freeman has a big arm and can play..

Not impressed with Nebraska, but I have never been really impressed with anything Clownahan has done.. They are sloppy, sloppy, sloppy..And it seems like I'm always saying when they are winnning, "damn, they are lucky they are winning this game".. And I'm very confident that we will beat them in Boulder this year if we stay relatively healthy.

I saw that Missouri/Illnois game a little and Missouri had trouble defending Illinois spread. I don't like their offense and I don't think you can win tough, close games playing the way they do on offense..

Iowa State stinks. Can't wait to go up there to pay back for the 2005 game.

Haven't seen Kansas and Fatgino, so its hard to rate them.. I guess we'll find out about them this week against KjSU which I believe is the FSN game..

1. KjSU
2. Missouri
Nebraska
Colorado
5. Kansas
6. Iowa State

1-NU
I hate the fuskers, but when their offense starts gelling they will be a monster. Its the D that sucks over there. So untill they lose they're still on top of the north.

#2-Missou
They killed us last year with the spread. They struggled vs Illinois but they will be alot better when they come down to boulder. But they have what i like to call the Pinkel factor working over there. They'll choke at some point.

#3-KSU
I hate Ron Prince and I think his luck will run out later on in the year. But they still beat UT. Freeman hasn't even begun to realize his potential yet. Thats scary for the rest of us in the north.

#4-CU
Big win but we have to prove it wasn't what every sooner fan says it was. A Fluke.

#5-KU
KU will always be KU. Mangino's reign of terror on the Lawrence Dunkin Donuts will come to an end at the end of this year. When they fire his fat ass.

#6-ISU
The upset over Iowa was nice. They should not be taken lightly. They are a team with nothing to lose.

Way to hard to say right now, I can see anyone but ISU could win the thing. Its going to be a fun season seeing how things shake out though.

It's early but how do you rate the north?

1. Kansas State - Honestly, this looks like the best team in the north to me right now. It pisses me off something terrible, but from the start of the season, they have been consistently the best team in the north. Go back to the Auburn game. They should've won that game. They shut Auburn down. Auburn got real lucky to win that game. Now they go down to Austin and thump UT. I am not looking forward to this game right now.

2. Mizzou - Their defense is obviously their big question mark. But so far their defense has been better than I expected. Certainly not great, but not completely porous.

3. Nebraska - There is a lot of talent on this team. Unfortunately, they're not playing up to their potential right now. They easily have the horses on this team to be #1 in the north, but NU needs to get their act together or else they are in for some surprises against, KSHS, MU, CU, and KU.

4. Colorado - I thought about perhaps putting CU and KU tied for the 4 spot but Colorado beat the #3 team in the country, they get it. I think this team is tough to gauge right now. Obviously putting up a huge win against OU gives CU a ton of creedence but looking at the season as a whole so far, you have to take into account how poorly your defense looked against CSU and ASU. Since then, the defense has done much better, and maybe the necessary adjustments have been made, but i guess I just have too many memories from the ASU game in my head to have a ton of faith in the CU defense right now. Keep it up though and you'll be right at the top in no time.

5. Kansas - They're killing the teams they're supposed to beat. That's about all we know about this team right now. how good are they? It's tough to tell right now. We'll see in the next couple of weeks how good these guys are.

6. Iowa State - these guys are pretty rough right now.

***Note***
Teams 1 through 5 are all really close in my mind. Just because I have Colorado and Kansas at 4 and 5 doesn't mean I think they suck by any stretch of the imagination. I think either of those teams could win this north division. The gap from those first 5 teams is really small and I think the north is really up for grabs at this point. It's gonna be a fun season to watch.

CU at 3? ahahaha

CU at 3? ahahaha

damn straight what has NU, ISU and KU done that looks more impressive than CU?

CU Has shut down Florida state and Oklahoma

NU has held on for dear life against Ball state (allowed 500 yards), Iowa state (allowed 400 yards), and Wake Forest. And been blown out at home againt USC.

KU has beaten up on junior colleges

Explain why those three look better than CU at this point?

I would say everyone except Iowa State is just about even right now. It's going to be an interesting race for the title.

Best assesment valdez

1)MU - Great Offense...haven't played anyone. I think they'll lose to Husker next weekend...just a gut feeling...but using the numbers...they got it.
2)KSU - Kansas Good or does Texas just suck? I'm thinking the later but....gotta go with the numbers
3)NU - Awesome Offense...**** defense...it's a crap shoot. Huskers have to lock in their defense...if they coulda done that before USC...good chance of winning the Big12 and they still have a shot...but Cozgrove will **** it up
4)KU - Again, haven't played anyone but are putting bigger numbers on the board than Mangina's waist.
5)CU - Potential with big win over Sooner...but, I'm not convinced yet with the piss poor play at ASU. The same as for Texas...CU really good or was everyone just kissing Sooners ass? Hawk Jr. is garbage when he's blitzed.
6)ISU - Come on...it's ISU

Because you're 3-2. You'll win at Baylor this weekend...but you're getting 4 straight L's after that. You have a shot at Kansas.

no, huskers don't have an awesome offense, they have a good offense and a **** defense. BTW, CU should have won at Arizona state, they shot themselves in the foot. NU will not be in the mix and they will be lucky to win more than 2 games left. It's all smoke and mirrors in Lincoln.
Pinskirts have allowed Wake Forest 376 total yards, USC 457 total yards, Ball state 610 total yards, ISU 415 total yards. Smoke and mirrors. Defense wins championships, and NU doesn't have one. Smoke and Mirrors

I'm not saying CU will win the north, but the buffs certainly have a better chance than the fuskers from what I've seen.

lol, you'll be lucky to win 2 games left on your schedule.

I know we will be...I don't wear rose colored glasses...we have major problems. We have a shot at the North...will we take it? I'm betting no...our defense sucks.

CU will not win the North. Too much talent. Ya'll always question my picks but who was right about your record last year and yall cried for days after I picked it....2-10 2nd game of the year I picked it.

you're a moron. Too much talent? Guess you missed CU owning OU, guess you missed a 11-0 Boise state team full of three stars beat up on a OU team full of 4 and 5 stars last year. Talent is nice but overatted. Hawk has these buffs believing and they are more talented than you think.

You ****ing won a good game and played very well....Oklahoma was playing like ****ing garbage. Doesn't make you the '****' of the north. Colorado will always be what Colorado has always been....a decent team that upsets someone every other year and has a decent record.
