Official 2016 Coaching Carousel

So Taggart offered Cristobal the offensive line coach position. He is really going all in with Florida recruiters other than Clark and the other DB coach.

Cristobal is a steal there. I like Taggart's staff, other than the all-in on Florida idea.
Agreed. Oregon did just fine primarily with California kids all those years. Then again, Taggart spent the past few years in Florida, maybe he's just going with people he's seen up close that are good.

Fwiw, seems to be a lot of smoke around the idea that Tee Martin will take a "lateral" move to become Tennessee's new OC. With the idea that he will be coaching for his alma mater while simultaneously pulling an Orgeron by signing up with a sinking HC so that he's next in line after Butch Jones pulls another Butch Jones next year.

So cal initially and I think he took over Jacksonville and Georgia when leavitt and tumpkin came on board. Clark was the one that recruited shay for us.
Yeah, I knew he had some Cali areas, but thought he had most of his connections in the South.

Just read that northwestern is expected to retain their entire staff. That would be 7 seasons with no staff change. Does northwestern pay that good? Is it that great of a place to coach/live? Or does nobody want to hire their staff?

GopherHole, the Minny message board (no kidding, that is the name, no pun intended by the mods, but still) saying P.J. Fleck has assumed control. (Unverified).

The Post-Minnesota Train scandal reset:

Open jobs:

1. Minnesota- Tracy Claeys ousted. PJ Fleck rowing his boat to Minny? Ken Nuumitaloloalolaooalaoallaoalo of Navy? Moorhead (insert joke here) DC at Perv. St. has said no thank you. Sumlin, Miles and Troy Calhoun also mentioned.

Jobs filled:

1. Fresno- Jeff Tedford gets the job, mid-season. Good hire, but the timing is weird. Of note, D II Danny applied and interviewed for the gig, according to the Fresno Bee.
2. FIU- Butch Davis takes the FIU gig. 5 year deal and all the Banana Boat products he wants. HaLk is the OC, [insert laugh track here], until he took his rodeo back to DII, where he belongs.
3. LSU- Ed Orgeron takes the job when Herman's price was apparently to high. Jimbo stays at FSU.
4. UT- Herman to UT. Strong's firing wasn't even out of the AD's mouth before Herman was emptying HCCS' desk...looks like this was in the works for a while. UT apparently talked to Jimbo, Dabo and John Harbaugh. Todd Orlando to be DC, still awaiting word on Dawn.
5. Indiana- Kevin Wilson out, Tom Allen promoted and hired, pretty much all in one day. (h/t unionbuff on the firing, buffnik on the hire)
6. Purdue- Jeff Brohm from WKU gets the nod.
7. Baylor- Matt Rhule now presides over the baptist dumpster fire.
8. Oregon- Willie Taggart goes from USF to the land of swooshes and cash, lures away Jim Leavitt with promises of eternal youth and a Play Doh fuzzy pumper barber set. Fires CFB's longest tenured AC, RB coach Campbell.
9. Nevada- Jay Norvell, fmr. ASU WR coach now the head of the Wolfpack.
10. UH- Major Applewhite assumes control of Houston High's FB program.
11. San Jose St.- Brent Brennan, fmr. WR coach at Oregon St. takes over.
12. Cincinnati- Tommy Tuberville resigns. Meanwhile, Mike Bohn calls Chuck.....Luke not-so Fickell, former tOSU DC gets the gig, after all he was just up the road.
13. Florida Atl. U- fired Charlie Partridge, and goes full rogue, hiring Lane Kiffin aka Joey Freshwater, with Kendal Briles coming along for for moral support.
14. Western Kentucky- Brohm to Purdue, Mike Sanford takes over.
15. Temple- Rhule leaves, UF DC Geoff Collins jumps off the Sparkles express to take over Temple.
16. USF- Taggart heads North, by Northwest. Charles Strong is the new HC.
17. UConn- axed Bob Diaco, return to the future with Randy Edsall.

Secondary openings:

None that I know of.

Other news:
MikMac staying put, and hanging up on anyone who suggests otherwise...and the DC search continues, with Tumpkin trial balloons being floated.

Why don't we just put a heading on every one of these that says "Troy Calhoun also mentioned." His name has been all over these post for the past few years and he still doesn't move. Don't expect him to any time soon.

LOL, good point, I'll assume from here on out it is simply understood.

and "Dan HaLkins would really like to be considered for the job, but who is he kidding"

Really like Fleck. Obviously his act is all for show but it will be interesting to see how he does at a higher level.

Other news:

I think Fleck will do well at Minny. Some of the rah rah stuff is kinda much. Seems like his guys love it though. Don't fix it if it's not broken, be who you are.

So Fleck got a 6 year contract for $21m ($3.5m/year). Will look really bad if CU can't pony up that kind of dough for the unanimous COY.
Yikes. I guess they really are rolling in that big10 money. I suppose they might have had to overpay just a little bit because that job is pretty toxic right now. Still, yikes.

Really like Fleck. Obviously his act is all for show but it will be interesting to see how he does at a higher level.

BUT, Is there a chance that Fleck is the next Dan Hawkins and his goofy schtick will not work with big time D1 players? Do you see the Alabama boys "Rowing the Boat"??? I like him and wish him well, and he probably chose the perfect job for him because the Big 10 West is weaker than other divisions, but maybe his act might not work. Some guys would be great at a lower level and that's the ceiling.

Is there any news on a new deal for Mac? The Fleck contract sets a new plateau right at that 3.0 to 3.5 Million Dollar Mark. Rick George is probably trying to sell to all the academics and the state muckity mucks that Mac is worth at least 5 years x $3 mil per...
