Official D coordinator search thread (DJ Eliot hired?)

they would both call Tennessee their home states.

I'd be quite happy with Sirmon given that we effectively use the savings to increase other coaches deals.

He has a $650K salary, I would be surprised if there were a whole lot of "savings".

If Sirmon is the guy (and most of the MSU stuff I've seen gives the impression that he's on his way here), then I would expect MM to be way more hands-on with the defense than he was with Leavitt, regardless of what we're paying him.

The "Sky" Twitter account wasn't even very active in the last year and certainly not about football. Suddenly a rash of Sirmon tweets in the last 48 hours stating as fact that he is headed to CU. There's a rabble-rousing agenda there and I wouldn't take that person seriously.

I wouldn't mind him doing just that if it didn't cause any issues. Players needing to know who they answer to is a potential issue. They find a happy medium, I'm cool with it.

I looked at Miss State's defensive stats...not impressive at all...110th ranked defense or something like that. I'd take MikeMac as the DC.

Supposedly has a good feel as a playcaller, is a motivator and is a great recruiter. HCMM's got the defensive system he wanted installed after building the culture. Time to hire recruiters who have the other things as coaches with the way they approach the job which lends itself to HCMM mentoring them within his systems. It's the Parcells approach.

Buffnik, Where did you see that Sirmon has good play calling ability?

The results at MSU don't show much anything positive.

I'm on the fence with this potential hire as a DC. He looks like a great LB coach. For DC, Either he is an unproven young DC, with energy and talent, that shines with MMac's and Tumpkin's guidance. Or his year at MSU is a true indicator of his abilities and we say he's unproven because we don't like the proof we see. Either way he will be an upgrade at recruiting, which is a plus.
I do have faith MMac will make the right choice. So if he picks Sirmon I'll be optimistic that Sirmon is a good fit with enough support to succeed.

If Sirmon is a good recruiter for defensive players like Chev is for offensive players, bring him onboard. Someone can take care of the x and os.

sigh... people post without reading way too much around here
I would suggest that, AllBuffs being AllBuffs, there is a lot of non-information posted that at times makes it difficult to separate the wheat from the chaff. Let's relax and just help a brother out if he didn't get around to reading all 32 pages of this thread.

Can't find it, but one of the things I read on him. Should have linked when I had it in front of me.

There was mention in one article about how intelligent he was as a player in preparation and reading plays and formations. Coach commemted on how he forgot the call signs but sirmon recognized the personnel and formation and Called the right blitz or play on the field.
