I tend to think this is very bad for the Buffs. First games are always filled with mistakes that just don't happen the rest of the year. This means CSU will have time to see their errors and clean them up before playing the Buffs...regardless of whether they win or lose against the Beavs.

I don't care either way. I just want to donkey punch CSU and all their fans right in the back of the head. Then stomp on their neck and beat them into submission. **** CSU! We will crush them regardless and I will laugh at all their fans delicious tears.
Considering I'm involved with the CSU stadium, I should snag me some tickets and go cheer on OSU for the opener, that would be fun.

Normally, I would say this gives CSU an advantage. However, now that we are not their Super Bowl (they will be very focused on winning that stadium opener) and the short week turn around, it is a wash, IMO.
Initially, I thought very bad, but thanks to reading the full details I am leaning towards possibly very good. CSU gets sky high for their stadium debut, season opener, P5 opponent and gets beat at home. Has to turn around after a tough physical game and take on the Buffs in Denver who now have film on them. Plus, if the ewes lose (likely) there could be an even bigger disparity of crowd in Denver.
In the end, it shouldn't really matter. Sending them to 0-2 would be especially fun though.

Pretty much. I also think our team has not really had issues being engaged for this game under MM. Even in the one loss, we actually started fast.

You mean that they aren't going to average 35,000 a game at home the rest of the season just because they now have a brand now stadium?
They were hoping that building a new facility on campus would give them renewed momentum towards growing their fanbase. Do they manage to kill all that momentum in two weeks meaning that they are now playing their games in an empty new stadium instead of an empty old stadium?
agreed. as much as it sucked, that loss was just CSU's year. We'll definitely be a whole hell of a lot more talented, bigger stronger faster, etc.

In my mind we still probably win. But I am not sure just how easy it will actually be because of all the turnover we've had. Them getting an P5 FBS game first does likely sharpen their blade before we do....

Hard to say them returning 9 starters from an absolute garbage defense is a plus though.
On paper, it shouldn't matter when this game is played. CU has out recruited CSU every year for the last six years. This game has blowout written all over it, and I fully expect CU to mud hole CSU.
I also expected CU to mud hole CSU in basketball this year. Weird things happen sometimes.
I'd prefer to play them when it's our second game, though. We will have a few kinks to work out and I'd rather work them out in a meaningless game.

Meh - a few years ago, I'd have been much more concerned.
As it is, we should drill them, no matter when the game is played.
It seems like there's a few negatives for CSU that might come close to making up for the positive of playing their second game to our first, but really, it shouldn't matter.

What is the record when it is our 1st game, but their 2nd or 3rd game?

Worrying about CSU is a huge waste of time. Mac/Chev have built up the roster with talent across the board and solid depth at just about every position. Game 1 game 2 game 10 it doesn't matter CU should beat them and beat them soundly. I can't think of 1 position where CSU would have the advantage and that includes coaching. If you want to worry about a team try USC or Washington. Those are the teams Mac and the boys still need to figure out.
This will be CSU's best team since Bobo has been at the helm. However, being the second game of the season should be an advantage for CU. As much as I want CU to win this game big each year, there is a lot more to it than just the talent advantage. It will be a dog fight like most years.

However, playing a real team, they will need to run their full compliment of offensive and defensive plays. We'll get "better" film.
I still think it helps them more than us, but the quality of opponent makes me feel it's not a huge advantage.

Nice response jack ass. Try actually refuting my point. Where does CSU have an advantage over CU? What did I say that isn't true? Sitting here worrying about a team that got 61 hung on them by Idaho when CU has teams like USC and Washington on their schedule. At least most people in this thread realize this isn't the Hawkins days where we as fans had to worry about losing to inferior teams.
