horse **** ****** calls by the refs

I watched and don't understand it, I am listening to the post game on radio.

The delay of game call is because the Buffs snapped the ball before the refs set the ball at the line. Therefore it is a dead ball. Hence the clock should not start until the ball is snapped.

In other words, the refs did everything they could to give the Clowns the game.

I can't believe an adult would make a ****ing call like that. Not to mention we make both FG's. I swear I wanna choke that ****ing zebra. No respect for the fact that men beat the **** out of each other for 60 minutes, he has to decite it for them. ****ing bitch!!!!!!!!

Is this a holdover from those rules designed to shorten games that were put in and mostly dropped last season? Does the clock now start after a penalty when the ball is ready for play instead of at the snap??

Either way, it is still complete ****ing horse**** for the officials to do nothing before the snap to indicate the game is over, then decide after the kick that it was, without a video review or anything else in between.

CU pissed this game away in the 3 and early 4th quarters. But they still deserve a fair chance to come from behind. They did not get it. :sad2:

Yeah, we got screwed but I dont' even give a crap.. To even have the game come down to that is just ridiculous..

I went back and reviewed on my DVR. There were 15 seconds left on the clock when Devree got tackled. The buffs managed to get their offense off the field and their FG unit on the field, set up and snap the ball faster than the officials could spot it.

Holy ****. That was terrible.

And they got the ball snapped in time before the time was 0.00 the 2nd time.. Not sure what the hell the refs are doing out there these days..

So you're one of the pig****ers that doesn't show for weeks, but comes back after your team has a good game, eh?

Piss off and go away.

I have been here every week. I just like watching you all say one week that this coach (Hawkins) is on a roll and doing well with young kids and then this week you say he sucks ass, blah blah. Hell I think your team is doing fine after being ****ing 2-10! Oh well, continue fighting amongst each other. Its actually entertaining!

So then who placed the ball on the line when CU kicked the ball the first. Did a CU player run the ball up to the line and set it where they thought it should have been?

I thought Devree threw the ball forward after he was tackled. Thus it must have been a ref that placed the ball.

The refs definitely contracted themselves with their calls.

Hey, BS, piss off. No matter what NU does in two weeks, you'll finish the B12 under .500.

I didn't understand the delay of game call either, I thought we caught a break on that one. If it was delay of game on the offense for touching the ball, then I would think the game would be over at that point because I thought they run off 10 seconds or something like that.

But the 2nd call was total BS, how can they rule the game is over AFTER the ****ing play?!?!? :wtf:

Thing thing about the last play that boggled my mind was, if our center snapped it before it was put in play, how is that even possible? The refs obviously set it down for our center to grab it and snap it. So right there that should have stood.

Now on the second kick from 55 yards no less, not sure why Eberhart can't hit the easier ones, like that one from 41 a few mins before all of this but I digress. If you watched that kick with 1 second left, everyone on both sides of the ball was set and waiting on the officials to start it or whatever, so as soon as they could legally snap it we did and the kick was good, how can they set the ball, with every single player on the field in position waiting for them to set it, then let them kick it, make it, call it good and then decide they didn't get the play off?

None of it makes any sense at all and it is so sad we lost that damn game.

I don't think there is anything in the rule book about a 10 second run-off for delay of game. Maybe there should be, but apparently there isn't, so I don't see how CU caught a break there. Especially since there is no reasonable excuse in the world for the officials not having that ball ready for play in the time it took CU to bring on the field goal unit, especially given the fact it was a 1 yard gain in the middle of the field. If anybody delayed the game on that play, it was the horse**** officials.

And we haven't even touched on the ****ing gift 15 yards ISU got on their last touchdown drive on the stupid "personal foul" call for bumping an ISU receiver with a shoulder... :sad2:

On your first point, I guess it's the NFL that has some sort of 10-second runoff rule. It just seems odd that the offense can get a penalty and that stops the clock, although I didn't realize initially that the call was that CU had snapped the ball before the officials declared it ready. But what if CU had a procedure penalty? Because if that would stop the clock then all you would have to do is get someone out there to snap the ball and that would stop the clock long enough for your offense to get lined up.

On your second point - yes, that was a total BS call!

I agree with you that a runoff would make sense in a case like this, and in the NFL it probably would be. I've never seen this exact scenario there, so I couldn't say for sure.

Although I truly don't believe CU did this intentionally to stop the clock. They just saw the clock down to 1 second and the ball in place and went, assuming it had to be ready for play. In that case, when the officials were completely in the wrong to create the situation, it would seem unfair to hit CU with a runoff and end the game for snapping a ball that SHOULD have been ready for play.

Wanna bet this officiating crew gets a little attention from the league this week?

I bet there will be hours spent analysing, cussing and discussing this game with league officials. Clock management ought to be put under the microscope.

How this game ended is NOT good for the game. Eberhardt got robbed TWICE. The fans are confused. The reviews and officiating on the final FG appear arbitrary, at best.

No, I wasn't at all implying that CU did it intentionally. But I'd be curious to know what the call would be in a situation like that, where the offense got a procedure or illegal formation penalty, intentional or not.

LMAO you guys crack me up! When did I say Nebraska's D was good? Hell I know what is going on in Lincoln. Who doesn't? You are grasping at crap that I won't argue with! I just find it funny how some of you one week act like Hawkins walks on water and then the next you wanna throw him under the bus. Talk about fair-weather fans!

You could copy-paste this from the fusker boards. Looks like the Pot calling the Kettle black. Lots to be amused by in your world.

The only way to appreciate college football to its fullest it to take a Dr. Strangelovesque view on refereeing.

sweet! huskerpedia must be a freeking riot to you! happy trails!

Kyle Ringo has a blog on the BDC website trying to make sense of the cluster**** at the end of the game.

http://buffzone.com/blogs/buffzone-sports/2007/nov/10/officials/

It all makes some kind of sense, but leaves wide open the fact that the officials would have single-handedly cost CU any kind of chance to tie the game with their incredibly incompetent failure to spot the ball ready for play in less time than CU needed to bring on and line up the entire FG unit, had CU not snapped the ball "early" in the first place.

Naw actually I don't post there. Why waste my money on a message board that "silences" you if you speak bad about the coaching staff? I much rather watch you all fight amongst yourselves!

No I am not jaded when it comes to our coaching staff. Their asses need to be sent packing right after the game vs the Buffs is complete, but nice try though!

The world doesn't revolve around you, Capirnicus.
I'm saying that you must get enjoyment out of the fair weather shuckers who pretend to be such great fans. And when you get tired of corn hypocracy, you come looking for more over here. And when you tire of Buff fan behavior, you can troll the GOP sites. Seeing that you get off on the frustration of others, that would make you fairly sadistically twisted.
