GAME THREAD: Cougs @ Buffs

We were hitting shots at a really high % in the first half. We came out of the half hot too. I think we just got lazy once we were up 26. We also didn't really turn the ball over until their run. It was just a perfect storm of us finally going cold, WSU getting hot and us getting careless for the first time all game.

The game in Pullman won't be easy, but this team has shown resiliency a few times in the last couple weeks that'll help on the road. Hope that continues -

Could be, but we can't have that kind of play against UW.

1., when we built the big lead, Tad put in a lot of guys so they could gain experience and left them in too long
2. 1st time i ever saw it, Tad didn't wear any CU colors

Agree completely with this. Tad needs to have at least one of the creators on the court at all times- King, McKinley and/or Namon.

Think you can count on 3. 4 is probably in doubt. Although anytime he talks about the future he mentions the rest of this year and the next 3 seasons, so who knows.

Is McKinley already being discussed as an early exit for the League? He's pretty amazing so far, but does his physique really draw NBA interest so much that he leaves early? I really don't follow the NBA much, to be honest.

Apparently there were 19 NBA scouts at the CU/Arizona game. If he has a solid sophomore season he may have a good shot to go pro.

Small chance he leaves after his Junior year. 90% chance he stays all 4 years. McKinley is similar to Frank Mason, Tra Holder, etc. Players who stayed 4 years. His best case NBA comp is Isaiah Thomas (Under 6ft, can finish at the rim) - if McKinley can develop a consistent 3 point shot. Even Isaiah stayed for 3 years before being picked late in the 2nd round.

Nope. King George
I think George will get some looks in the 2nd round, especially if he keeps shooting 3s like he has in conference play.

People tend to forget that he was the best 3pt shooter in the Pac-12 two seasons ago (I think I have that right).

@Goose -- weren't you going to pull together some advanced stats on King and where he sits as an all-time Buff?

Isaiah or Isiah?

In 50 years of being Buff fan, I think this team has more potential than any I've seen. 3 more years of McKinley and Namon, and Dallas, Bey and Nicolic, and Schwartz. 2 more for Brown and Seiwert. If we can get Tory and Evan back, or add a heavyweight big man, CU will be a force. watching this develop is great fun

Namon's a junior.

For George King I think the most favorable NBA comp is Robert Covington. King needs to convince NBA scouts he can be a rotation 3 and D player. Covington is a bit taller and had higher per game steals and blocks in college but also played in a less competitive league. GK has shown he can hit the 3 and he needs to continue to hit at that clip but he has more room for improvement on D. His rebound numbers are great but his best route to an NBA roster is to show he can bother some of the elite wing prospects in the P12 .

For McKinley Wright, it's really hard to find guards under 6 foot that were drafted early without making deep NCAA tournament runs. Off the top of my head Tyler Ulis (who gets the Kentucky benefit of the doubt) and fellow Minnesotan Tyus Jones (listed at 6' 1") who won an NCAA championship with Duke. Kemba Walker went after his junior year but he single-handedly won an NCAA championship for UCONN. What I'm trying to say is, if McKinley Wright wins CU a national championship in the next 3 years he should definitely leave for the NBA!

I have to agree - as great a start as Kin's gotten off to and as high as his ceiling seems to be in college, he's going to have to blow a lot of minds before he gets positive feedback from the folks who advise kids on coming out early. His size is going to scare a lot of people away.

My money is on all 4 years.

Thank you. I need to knock that out.

I should have used the sarcasm font - agree with everything you said but your earlier post was spot on (re the AZ players).

Students were the best they've been all season. Still the most disinterested student crowd since Tad's been here.

**** dude, they are now chanting "Buffaloes Buffaloes GO CU"....

I don't understand today's youth.
Classing up the joint?

Ewwwww...

The students are yelling that?

****in' A

I keep it to that because of who I sit near and especially when my son's there and he's parroting whatever I'm yelling. But the students? Come on.

They haven't been chanting along all season, so at least they went with it in this game. But yea, by the 3d repetition, it was definitely "Buffaloes". I was in denial for a bit.
