OSU game fallout thread

Why is it always “well... you know... this is the best we can do...” at CU, but fecking Washington state and CSU can hire real coaches? Pathetic.
It’s not like people were beating down Mike Leach’s door to hire him. Lol. He’s been looking for other jobs but no bigger programs want him.

Two thoughts
Mac being the nicest coach on earth and not believing in stepping on the other teams throat and running the same offense consistently is counterproductive for the first team guys to become weak and soft and all the anxious subs that would have loved to have played never never getting meaningful snaps to gain experience.
Second, everytime a second QB comes into a game, apparently we cannot adjust! This game feels like Tate last year. QB change, scheme becomes too much for kids to adjust, and bam there is an embarrassing loss!!!
I wanna puke

Today was one of the worst days in CU Football history.

I’ve been a huge HCMM fan but I don’t think he or the team can come back from this.

I think that the ENTIRE problem stems from Chev’s horrible play calling that puts the game in the hands of our worst position group.

I watched Utah play last night and was amazed at how quickly Huntley got the ball out to multiple points on the field. Consequently their running game was dynamic and dangerous. I thought Chev would bring that type new offense to our team. Instead, we seem intent on “establishing the run”. With an over used back who is obviously not 100%. I don’t know who is really making those decisions, but whoever it is needs to go.

I think that all three of our losses this year were extremely winnable with an offense that uses our players differently. (See WSU).

Does anyone really believe that our best players are on the field? For the life of me I cannot understand how Laviska was not on the field last year. Does anyone who goes to the games see if our receivers create any separation off the line of scrimmage? We never get rid of the ball quickly. After today I say, bring back Lingren.

BTW Cal beat Washington today.

I think we actually do have the best players on the field. Brown has to actually catch the ball, good lord.

The RB group is just not good after McMillian. You almost have to try to recruit as badly as we have at that position.

Every remaining team we play won or is winning today while we lost to the worst team in the league at home!!!

Utah is smoking hot
Washington State is legit
Cal upset Washington with great defense
Arizona is probabaly going to upset Oregon

This team better get its sh*t together or we could be seeing a 5-0 start turn into an 0-7 finish! If we do not go to bowl, then MM should be fired.

This was all on MM. All. Of. It.

Buffs score to go up 31-3 and he told them to take the foot off of the gas.
OSU starts getting momentum and he keeps the offense on run only.
OSU gets to 17 and he keeps the offense run only.
OSU gets within ****ing 3 points!!! And he keeps the clamps on the offense to run out the ****ing clock!
Ballgame.
The offense was fine when it was allowed to attack. His dumb ass didn’t want to “run up the score” and lost a game that CU was winning in blowout fashion.
I’ve never been too critical of him because he did a great rebuild, but today was 100% ineptitude and completely on him. I honestly think this team won’t win another game this year. Bowl drought continues.
**** MM. He let his whole team down.
Bull**** hot take. MM didn't take his foot off the gas, the players decided it was over. You could see it on the sideline. The defense was gassed because the offense quit.

I will add that this offense doesn't resemble anything in the air raid scheme. The air raid includes route combinations that create coverage confusion and makes it easier for the QB to do his progression. Almost every route today was a fly or an out. Nothing over the middle, even when the defense vacated that area pre-snap. Phillip couldn't hold the edge long enough for the counter to work. We ran no jet sweeps even though we had a speed advantage. Chev's lack of experience is hurting us and the lack of experience on the line is killing us.

What explains today is that Leavitt was our only big program coach, which he probably realized having to answer limp wrist mike Mac and bailed as soon as he could. What we’ve had since the Alamo bowl is pathetic coaching and play on the field.

We will continue to have this because mike Mac is too soft, too loyal and uncool to fire HIS coaches and bring in top notch coaches / recruit great players.

All the success we’ve had (because of Leavitt’s defensive turn around) still only resulted in slightly higher end 3* recruits. MM/staff cannot recruit against the big boys for 4/5* guys and win despite all CU has to offer.
Leavitt is not exactly lighting the world of fire at Oregon. The continued love affair with him confuses me.

I made this exact same point in the TE thread. I’m glad I’m not the only one wondering what the **** route tree/combinations we are running. Where are slants, wheels, posts, seams, sit downs in the zone?

Ultimately, the problem stems from the OL’s utter inability to block an under average DL. Not sure what play you call when you can’t block anything.

I know it's been said here already but I can't help but think:

Wazzu beat Stanford
Cal Beat Washington
Utah is hot right now
Arizona is beating up Oregon (at least in the first half)

I don't see us winning any of these remaining games unless drastic changes are made immediately, whether that's mental attitude, play calling, preparation in film study and practice or even more drastic measures in personnel...players and coaches. I don't have the answers, but I don't get paid to have them either.

AZ up 37 - 8, 2 mins left in the 3rd.

Guess how many times they've run in up the middle trying to run clock?

Wasn’t it a week or two ago we were talking about Oregon being the PAC-12’s best chance at the CFP and Arizona being the worst team in the South? What the hell is going on in this conference?

Everything is the worst, that’s what’s going on.

No way in hell we win another game. Cal and Az are getting much better, we’re going totally backwards. This was a knockout blow to an overrated team. Take away the Travon run (which was kinda flukey, one narrow hole, one missed tackle and gone) and we scored 20 points vs OSU. That’s the sign of a baaaad team.

I think you just guaranteed us one more win... thanks!

Book it, cu will go from 5-0 to 5-7 in the worst collapse in CU history. Today's loss will send this program back to the dark ages. This program, its coaches etc...are mentally weak.

TE pass
Tunnel Screen
Fly Sweeps

Somehow all left the playbook?
No trick or creative plays were used?
But run up the middle was the staple play again! When we ran stretch, we look decent.

My head will not stop shaking.
