Report: Mike Leach interested in return to Texas Tech, Dana Holgorsen a potential target

The article doesn't actually say Leach is interested, just that the AD and big-time donors are going to target him.

Leach to Tech would be a big domino in the Pac12. Would they pursue Bryan Harsin or an "air raid disciple" like Spavital to replace him if he left? Or would they cherry pick from their rival and go after Jimmy Lake. Possibly their old AHC: Alex Grinch.

If Tech can't land one of their top two; I could see them going hard after one of the G5 guys with buzz like Littrell, Brown, Norvell, or Wells.

Holgorsen's agent is earning his money. His client must really want out.

Latest updates from FS:

Auburn: Despite AD Allen Greene affirming Gus Malzahn will return in 2019, Josh Moon of Montgomery (Ala.) Reporter reports there is a movement among AU powerbrokers to buy Malzahn out and hire a “top level” head coach, and that conversations with candidates began weeks ago. More on the situation here…

Barry Odom:
Following a report by 24/7 yesterday that Barry Odom was in play for the Louisville job, Odom responded directly to Dave Matter who covers the program, “Zero interest in Louisville.

Auburn has to be the most dysfunctional AD/fanbase in the country.

Charlotte- (h/t DeNiro)

Texas State (Sun Belt) and Charlotte (C-USA) are FBS

So Colorado remains the only open job west of Texas Tech, and one of two west of the Mississippi. I'd also go as far as to say we remain the best job opening.

Filled jobs:
KU - Les Miles, 5 years $2.775MM/year.

Open jobs:
Colorado
BGSU
Maryland
UMASS
Central Michigan
Texas Tech
Louisville
UNC

I mean, I realise you can probably improve on Malzahn and that Auburn is Auburn and nothing truly ever makes much sense there, but when you look at the finances involved, is there a possible candidate in the college ranks bar Saban, Dabo and maybe Urban to go for? There's absolutely zero doubt those 3 will win anywhere, but with just about any other possible candidate there at least has to be some doubt.

1. Auburn boosters are insane.

2. There might be a method to the madness. Move on and do something new before Saban figures you out and starts dominating you like he did to Les and Urban.

Texas State looks like they will hire Kendal Briles. Big time hire for the Bobcats if that happens.

Lol probably one of the few jobs somebody with the stench of Baylor would have a shot at. Totally shooting from the hip-but what about Malzahn if he's available and wants to coach? He'd be a splash.

Saban dominated Urban?

I don’t remember it that way. I seem to recall Urban beating Alabama at both Florida and OSU.
