CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

Serious question: Can he sign a contract to be CU’s HC, work for the Buffs for a few weeks but then go back and also still be under contract and/or coach for Georgia? I feel like it would be against the rules to be employed by two different universities, but I don’t actually know.

i dunno how this works legally, but i do know that this has been done plenty of time the last few years. pruitt, smart, frost, pelini all did double duty, i believe.

I also think it is strange to question recruiting of anyone at any top school. Where exactly would you have CU hiring from if not the best recruiting schools?

I think Mel’s recruiting will improve at Colorado. In Georgia he only had the Blue Ridge Mountains. Think what he can do with the Rocky Mountains..2.5-3 times the size. We should get 2-3 times the 5* players.

He will likely sign the CU contract several weeks from now.

He will have 3 things to sign...

A waiver on his contract from Georgia to allow for secondary employment

A short term contract/agreement to coach for Colorado until the day after the CFP ends for Georgia

His permanent Colorado Contract, with the effective date being the same as the end of #2

Read about something like this for a-hole Frosty and some other coaches that did the same thing.

Yeah, but you can’t assume tonight is a formality, without talking before, that would be dumb. The AD is about to commit 15-20 mill to this guy, if RG’s already set on him before hashing the details out, he’d be an idiot. They might not like each other, his staff plans might not make sense. And Tucker’d be an idiot on his end. If this rumor is real, they’ve talked already.
I never said they hadn't talked. I said they likely hadn't met. I guarantee there have been phone calls and discussions already.

I would have to think about it awhile. I don't know if I have witnessed a team this good (Alabama) in a long time.
So did Tua last year in the NC game. I have no problems with the defensive narrative around being up 28-14 (or whatever) until Alabama was forced to sub a radical change in the 2nd half due to injury.

Game’s over. Where’s tha formal announcement?
