CU officially hires Mel Tucker as new Head Football Coach

247 Georgia board saying as early as this morning

Georgia boards have pretty much 100% moved on from Tucker with nothing but praise and concern about maintaining his high level of recruiting and DB play!

Where on there are they talking about timing? Cannot waste this whole day on this, but already feeling like a bug staring at a bug zapper!

I don't know. Color me old-fashioned although I was a member of that #3 rated recruiting class in 1992 (we were all some form of High School All-American). I envision this Fogoros guy hanging out with his brother "Xander" wearing Fedoros and drinking Momosas at 10 in the morning while waiting for their monthly spend-thrift trust check to come in. Kind of like how I view half of this board. ; )

It is not so much worrisome as an annoyance. How ****ing long can this really take?
This!!!

Other schools have come open, hired a coach away from another school, and the other school has already filled their head coaching position in less than the time Colorado has been open.

I’m all for being as thorough as necessary, but this is getting ridiculous, and hopefully doesn’t create doubts in Tucker’s mind about if this is what he’s going to have to deal with at Colorado.

Oh and NSD is rapidly approaching.

Maybe it wasn't MM's fault the assistant coaching positions took so long to fill. Maybe the issue has been RG the whole time... runs away

It was more MM. He specifically went out of his way to downplay any deadlines. RG at least understands this needs to be done before this weekend.

One of the VIP's on the Georgia board made a comment about money, and said:

"He will be in the $4,000,000 range"?
I had a feeling that one of the tools that RG may need to use is a solid offer.
We are playing with the big boys now!
If Scott Frost can get $5,000,000 a year, then someone like Tucker should be able to at least ask for $4 mil

RG was at the basketball game Saturday afternoon....held his granddaughter most of the game and spent very little time on his phone. He didn't portray an athletic director in the throes of finding and transacting a new football coach.
Led me to believe the deal was done and the paperpushers were working in the background somewhere leading to an announcement.

If Derek Mason is really worried about being replaced with a new AD coming in soon I think it would be a perfect time to poachn CJ Ah You from them. Tucker should have a pretty good idea about Brown and Ambrose after sitting down with them so those decisions should come out pretty quickly. Since we hired an experienced DC as our head coach I still think it would be a good move to try and promote Antonio Pierce (title only). I like Els but he is probably gone so they would have to find a pass rush/OLB guy.

Els is actually the one guy on the defensive staff that should have a good chance to stay. I'd consider adding Brown to it, but he coaches DBs and that's Tucker's area, so he will probably want his guy in there or will do it himself.

Ah You would be my favorite assistant coach hire we could make. #2 on that list would be Jamie Christian for RB/ST, who we shouldn't have a problem getting away from Fresno State and giving his first P5 opportunity since ASU from 2007-2011.

Tucker won't be a position coach. But he may see DB coach as a place he can mentor young assistants and have some personal involvement like MM did.
