New Poster - Question for board about staff

Hello, this is my first post here so be gentle. My question is about the current staff - Based on what Rick George said about how he believes this group is excellent, is it possible that the current staff might remain somewhat intact? Obviously, some are non-starters (Bernardi and Adams), but is it possible that the defensive staff might be retained? On offense replace the two non-performers and demote Chiaverini back to WR coach and replace OC position with someone more established? Looking at the lot of them, most of these guys have good resumes and have done a good job here. Maybe don't throw the baby out with the bath water and keep some continuity. (Putting on helmet for oncoming ballistic missiles...)

Unlikely that most of the staff stays. I wouldn’t be surprised if 1-2 guys were retained, though.

Welcome.

(In before someone says, "**** you. Now get me a sammich.")

I'm confident that Bernardi won't be re-hired. He's at the end of his contract.

I think anyone else could potentially be brought back for the last year on his contract. It won't be all. It probably shouldn't be more than 2 or 3.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is the staff that's recruiting through the early signing period in a couple weeks and then we'll see the new coach make the decisions after that.

Is it possible? Certainly. It's been talked about here, it isn't unheard of to retain a few assistant coaches.

Is it worth retaining an OC who posted 7 points in back-to-back games and a DC who blew a 31-7 lead to one of the worst FBS teams in order to keep continuity with the 44th ranked recruiting class? I mean, we wouldn't want to lose any of our Austrian offensive line prospects.

I don't anyone involved in this year's unmitigated disaster anywhere near this program next year, but if Mel Tucker decides he wants to keep Chev (in a different role), maybe Roper, or Hagan, I wouldn't lose sleep.

Strongly depends on your definition of the word "somewhat", but based on mine I'd say no.

I think and hope Tucker will put an emphasis on recruiting not seen in Boulder in 30 years and most of the current staff have their strengths elsewhere as Mac never seemed to grasp the importance of recruiting and hence never really made it a point of emphasis.

I also expect us to go big with the OC hire. Like really big.

That decision needs to be left to Tucker, he is to one who is going to be working with them huge amounts of hours, he is the one who will be responsible for overseeing their performance, he is the one who ultimately is responsible for setting the priorities, and he is the one who's job will depend on them doing their jobs.

There are a couple of them I wouldn't mind seeing back, a couple more I hope are gone but could see a new coach keeping, and a number of them who need to go elsewhere.

Hopefully we are looking at a different attitude. Coach MacIntyre came in with a G5 background and a G5 attitude. take what you can get and see what you can make out of it. We have reached the ceiling of what that will do.

Coach Tucker comes from a background of going for the win, going for the best, not settling for second best. How many of our current coaches are ready to buy into that mentality completely?

I always preferred Quizno's over Subway. Toasting always elevates.
Yessir. Chipotle mayo at Quizno's far supersedes Subway's.
Oh, also about football at CU currently... let's go Fisching for a Jeddi master at OC and get Jens and us all an early Xmas present.

Adams, Elliott, Bernardi are not coming back in my opinion. Els didn’t do a bad job, but I don’t think he sticks either.

CU always seems to find a job for Hagan somewhere, whether as a coach or in other areas. That’s the juice you get when your W/L record is 1,000,000,000 and 1, or whatever it is. Perhaps he goes back into the office.

Chev and one of the two DB coaches (Ambrose) are the most likely to stay in my opinion.

Roper is a big question mark for me.

Drake gone too.

Dunno how it figures in, but bear in mind DB is Tucker's position as a player and coach.

all franchise sandwich shops serve dead donkey ass sandwiches. that's why you people are arguing about whether the dead donkey is on a toasted or non-toasted roll and whether or not it is coated in chipotle mayo. but, you can't hide the taste of dead donkey ass forever. so, n00b... when i say get me a sandwich, i want a no-nitrates organic low sodium humanely slaughtered ham on a gluten free non-gmo organic bun, baked in an artisanal store owned by native americans. don't try to bring any of that subway **** in here. it's getting tossed right back in your ignorant n00b face. oh, and if you happen to be a really hot female super model with questionable judgment and a thing for angry ex-lawyers, then please also wear a tail. i'm thinking about experimenting with furryism.

Even if it's Liver, this post needs more rep.

I couldn’t care less if he doesn’t keep anyone. Recruiting wasn’t good enough, coaching wasn’t good enough. We went shopping to get a kick as recruiter. I’m hoping he will build a staff of kick ass recruiters around him. And good coaches.

He is used to NFL, Alabama and Georgia type staffs. I’m thinking he’s not going to look at our coaches and think he can’t get better ones. Might be his only chance to be a P5 HC (if he ****s this up). I’d hope he tries to build a recruiting monster here.
