I hope Tuck doesn't give in to the pressure...I want ALL his guys...if that's Chev and Hagan then fine, if not, then fine.
I agree, plus Tucker talked about coaching the coaches even as a DC. I think assistants take on the attitude (or lack of) of the HC. If Chev and Hagan can do that then Im good. If not, then move on! If Tucker can bring in coaches that are upgrades at every position then do it! No excuses, right!
I fully believe RG has some recommendations, but I also don't believe RG will force anyone on Tuck!

I still think Kasey Dunn is a coach to target. STs experience, RB and WR coaching experience, and DFW recruiting ties.

ST only could work. Add TE to RB coach.
Yes really. Lindsay and McMillian have been very good. How can you ask who else. They have been the only RBs to play since Hagan took over the RBs. Hagan is starting to build some depth, but we won’t know how that’s going until next year. Why assume they are going to be bad?
I dreaded everytime Evans came in, knew he wasn't getting yards.

I am curious to the advantages vs. disadvantages to keeping some former staff.

(possible) Advantage: loyalty with players, continuity with recruits, familiarity with team/university

(possible) Disadvantage: buy-in to new regime, bad habits (losing mentality), public perception

I am sure there are a few more, feel free to chime in. Personally feel like Drake did a great job last year (ie, Mustafa and Lang) and has an awesome charisma, I would love to see him stick around. And I like Roper as well, especially considering HCMT is a Defensive Coach, would like to retain Roper as a foundational piece on the offense.

Keep the best recruiting coach for each side of the ball for continuity.

IMO, keep Chev as WR coach and Drake as DL coach and move Hagan to an admin or analyst role.

I also have to believe that RG may have his recommendations on coaches to keep, but will absolutely support MT on his own staff decisions.

I'm curious why you think Drake is our best defensive recruiter or even a good one.

fwiw, ShaDon Brown is our best recruiter for defense. Els and Eliot right behind.

You are right Nik, I’m confusing personality with recruiting strength.

Maybe keep Eliot as LB coach if he also fits MT’s defensive philosophy.

OL and DL coaches are going to be very important along with the coordinators.

Hagan needs to go work in the AD. The RBs haven't panned out and McMillan is proof of that.

I think Roper could stay as the QBs coach and Chev gets demoted to WRs coach.

If HCMT decides to clean house, I'm with him 100%. That might be the best thing to do after all.

If you can hire somebody better for a particular coaching spot then you hire them. The goal should be to assemble the best staff possible.

If the current coach is better then keep him but don't pass somebody better up just because you want to keep Chiv, Hagan, etc.

Not sure how much there is to it, but the first potential name to watch for an assistant gig may have popped up on the Rivals board.

I could see Coach Tucker keeping Roper for this year at the minimum because having Montez and Evans in the fold without drama is a valuable thing. You can replace him next year if he is not pulling his weight.

Problem with Roper is he's a QB coach and most OCs we'll want to hire are QB coaches. Generally, our super awesome combo of OL/WR coaches doing the Co-OC job, isn't the play

What if Dell McGee is the new OC and RB Coach? Then he can keep Roper on the QB's and ask for help on Passing Game?

Ok, so Lang is your definition of a “great” player? He isn’t even a full-time starter. Hagan can’t even recruit a good running back, that’s my issue. If you believe he’s a great recruiter, that’s your opinion I just don’t see any evidence to prove he is even an average recruiter.

it could work in that sense, but is that really what you want to see? McGee would be nice as recruiting coordinator, but as playcaller with assitance from Roper? No thx

I would like to see the following retained:
WR Coach - Chev
DL Coach - Drake
QB Coach - Roper
S&C Coach - Drew Wilson

Maybe ShaDon Brown and Hagan (agree Hagan should be retained in some capacity)

Hagan. A great Buff player. Seemingly a good dude. A very average coach and recruiter, and that’s being generous.

I’m mystified why he has support from some on here to retain him in some administrative capacity with the AD. To do what, exactly? What am I missing?

A name sure to get everyone fired up.
I don't have a sub so I'm going to assume it was Andy McCollum (who's a good coach but with no western ties) and not Andy Ludwig for my own sanity. If there's any other Andy's then I don't know of them.

If you were hired as a head coach at 2.4 mil a year wold you want an adminstrator dictating your coaching personnel decisions? Maybe RG ought to be on the intercom overruling 4th down play calls.
