132 days to go! November 5, 2019 is the date.

I cannot wait for this upcoming season for the Buffs and I am thinking the new three point rule is going to have an impact...maybe force CU's guards to go inside more often in addition to reducing the number of three point attempts.

The Volleyball and women's soccer schedules just came out. I'm hoping the basketball schedules are going to be next out the door.

UConn could have an interesting final season in the AAC...road games are going to be pretty intense. Their move to the Big East is all but official after the trustees approved the Big East invitation.

I really plan on using the ESPN+ subscription this year to watch some games and the four Big 12 schools on that (KU, KSU, Baylor, and OSU) will get a look from me. The AAC's new ESPN deal will have ESPN+ as well.

I noticed that one of the espin channels has been replaying ACC bball games from last year.

I hope 3 point attempts don't go down. We need to be shooting a ton of them. That's how you win now, if you haven't noticed.

Heard Altman “:puke:” being interviewed on 92.5 about Bol Bol. But at the end, Andy Lindahl said “we will see you in Boulder” to which Altman heaped a lot of praise on Tad and the Buffs. He said we will be really good.

Altman is being honest about the team.

As far as he and Tad are concerned, I'd like to believe there is respect as coaches even if they hate each other.

Yeah. I don’t think they’ll be exchanging Christmas gifts.

The Nuggets need to play a preseason game at the CUEC so Bol Bol can tell his college coach what its like to a win a basketball game in that building.

Erik Christianson: Preseason polls have CU at or near the top of the Pac 12 this coming season.

How do you manage expectations?
Tad: “The first thing I say is don’t believe everything you read (grinning). I tell my kids that, don’t believe everything you read, haha. You know this year we’re going to have to say, look, everyone expects us to be good and people are not going to overlook Colorado this year, not that they have in years past. But, uh, we’re going to get people’s best shot. We’ve gotta be ready for that.”

Segway to highlight video against UCLA Gatling to Bey for a slam.

EC: “It’s easy to be optomistic when you have players like McKinley Wright and Tyler Bey returning. Both were voted to the All Pac 12 first team last year. They give Tad Boyle his best one two punch since Spencer Dinwiddie and Andre Roberson. In Wright, Boyle has a player as good as any he’s ever coached.”

TB: “My expectations for McKinley have risen each year, you know, that I coach him. I call it the “It Factor” that he has. He has, uh, he has the it factor that you can’t describe it, you can’t put it into words, you can’t coach it, you can’t teach it. He’s just got “it.” He’s not only one of the best guards in our league, he’s one of the best guards in the country.”

EC: “While Tad is excited to see this team on the court, he’s also anxious to see what happens off the court in college basketball. An FBI investigation has resulted in the arrest of several assistant coaches and it has implicated several high profile teams in a cheating scandal. (Video of Sean Miller). Two years ago Tad put himself front and center Nationally on this issue when the Buffs beat Arizona, one of the teams under investigation. And that’s when I asked him this question. (Press conference after the AZ game. EC asks) “Tad, is there any extra satisfaction beating Arizona knowing what happened in the off season?”

TB: (In press conference) “Absolutely! Absolutely there is. Hell yes there’s extra satisfaction! I’ve got great respect for Sean. Helluva coach. I’ve got great respect for Andy Enfield, but, to answer your question, HELL YES!”

EC: “Since that day relationships with the two Pac 12 teams implicated, Arizona and usc, have been strained. Boyle’s comments led directly to this ugly incident last year against the Trojans.” (Video of the post game shinnanagins at usc).

(Back to this interview).
EC: “I feel like I need to apologize to you because I feel like the usc thing wouldn’t have gotten to that point had I not asked you that question after the Arizona game a year and a half ago.”

TB (grinning and nodding): “You do need to apologize, and apology accepted (laughing). I didn’t have to answer the way I answered.”

EC: (Laughing) “Right! (Inaudible) A year and a half later, do you regret your answer to that question?”

TB: “No.”

EC: “Not at all?”

TB: “No, because it was honest, and it was genuine and it was real. There were two programs in the Pac 12 that were implicated and, that’s where we were, that’s where we are, and that’s where history will reveal that.”

EC: “We finally have our first charges in this FBI investigation to some of the assistants who were involved, it’s been roughly 2 years, are you at all frustrated?”

TB: “I’ve gotten over it. There were certainly, there’s periods of frustration you go through...”

I just reached my delay limit but EC asked Tad “what happens if nothing is done.” Tad shook his head and said if nothing is done, that sends a clear message and we know what that message is.

Topics of discussion include: what the staff is focusing on during the summer, why it could be one of Colorado’s best defensive teams in recent years, McKinley Wright’s development, how Tyler Bey creates difficult matchups for opponents, expectations for the expanded 3-point line in college basketball, and much more.

I guess I have mention that, once again, the schedulers have the Buffs at home for the first 3 games - while students are still on break, and away the last 3 games of the year.

This has happened several times.

Wait, I thought we were supposed to bitch about having to start conference play on the road every year. Now we're supposed to bitch about starting conference play at home?

I believe that the last two conference schedules had us playing 4 of our first 6 on the road. Both times that led to us beginning conference play in a hole.

I have no problem playing certain opponents at home with the students on break. Typically I am unhappy because UCLA gets to come play in Boulder with no home crowd, this year it will be Oregon. Don't really care about OSU or the UU game being when students are on break.

Clearly a global conspiracy from the Pentavirate, who run everything in the world, including the newspapers, and meet tri-annually at a secret country mansion in Colorado, known as The Meadows. I personally blame the Colonel.
