Recruiting so far...

What grade would you give Tucker and his staff for their recruiting efforts so far?

Agree on the sides. But try drizzling a bit of their hottest sauce into the Mac & Cheese. I enjoyed it after doing that.

I actually did do this lol! It was so strange though that of all sides to mess up, Mac and cheese is the one.

Albuquerque has a few good places for BBQ, most of the real good ones in this state are to the east, though. Never been to a Georgia Boys, sounds good, though.

How did this turn into a BBQ thread?

Saucy southern who set up on Federal (in differing locations, you can find them on Instagram) is so good.

Rolling smoke BBQ is usually downtown on weekends and during Rockies games during the summer. All of their meats are fantastic, their collard greens are delicious, beans delicious and their Mac and cheese is outstanding. I actually had them cater our party here for 100 after we got back from Hawaii, everyone absolutely loved it as I figured they would. They’re a bit pricy, like $15-16 for a plate for 2 sides and meat but it’s well worth it.

It started with people discussing the fact that southern black elite athletes find lilly white Boulder to be a major culture shock. The BBQ discussion emerged related to spots that could make the landing easier.
Southerners in general since we were talking about recruiting those states. Can be a culture shock when it’s easier to find couscous than grits.

Any recommendations for a good BBQ joint near Boulder? I haven’t found anything above average since leaving Texas. The Mexican food is getting better though.
I love Nordy’s north of 34 and east of 25. Lunch buffet for $12, $4 more if you want all you can eat ribs added to the all you can eat everything else. I have a freind from a Houston that does competitive bbq and goes to all the famous places featured on tv shows. He said Colorado didn’t have any good bbq. I took him there for the lunch. He almost got sick on the way home because he devoured three very full plates of bbq. And gave it his blessing with “I don’t know why this place isn’t on all of the tv shows!”

I love good brisket and I drive up from Castle Rock every couple months just to eat there. Sides are great too.

Here's a little inside scoop for you. Got word from a friend of mine who has been speed training local athletes, '17 CO ATH Anthony Lyle had a tryout with the Buffs Saturday and has made the team as a DB, most likely Safety.

Measures at 6'1" 205 Lbs, 40 in the high 4.3 range, 10ft broad jump. I briefly witnessed them training, kid is yolked and athletic as heck! He was at Eastern Michigan playing football but injuries derailed his time there.

It’s amazing to me that a 4.3 50 guy at 6’1 and 185 is a walk-on at EMU. Love the fact that MT will turnover rocks to find talent.

I remember it being mentioned that Georgia had a staff of students monitoring recruits HS games/seasons to help the coaches stay informed, nice to see we seem to be implementing more of that.

247 doesn't show an offer yet.

This is just one more piece of evidence that everyone from the AD down is getting it right.

It is incredibly valuable to have someone who has been a part of the very best college football organizations, seen how they worked, and then is smart/talented enough to bring it here. We did quite well the last time we followed this path.

The last time CU was great, it was when the program imported the Bo Schembechler approach to running a college football program.

In this era, doing the same with the Alvarez-Tressel-Saban-Smart approaches is hard to argue with as a program strategy.

Carl Albert is a perennial power house. They are a 5A team, 1 division below the big schools (like Tulsa Union, Jenks, etc.).

What's the term?

Oh yeah:

UBL.

Special thanks to @Big Jim bumming me out. In all seriousness, on that list we lost kids to Kansas. AFA, and Wake Forest among other rather mediocre programs.
I wonder if the staff pulled away from some of those guys or if our staff doesn’t have the recruiting chops that we had hoped.
I mean Kansas?!? It doesn’t seem like we should lose a kid to Kansas, ever.

Probably not in on those guys anymore. We seem to know who they seem to be targeting.
