Takeaways from the game? Revised expectations?

Was hoping for 3-0, but if we went 2-1........I'll take a win over Fusker and a loss today all day. This division is wide open-and we can beat Stanford and Washington State (I'm not buying them TY until I see them play a Power 5).

Not sure how good Washington State is, but that looks like a terrible matchup for us on paper, in Pullman no less.

I get that-I just don't think you can take much from wins over New Mexico State and Northern Colorado. Call that winnable-trending towards no.

At this point, I think you can say they are at least average in passing offense. Against our pass defense, more than enough to put up huge numbers.

They screwed up the easiest and most automatic point producing play in football...the extra point...hit it and win...
We play down to teams. It’s almost as if we try to only “look” good enough to barely win. I want to see a team out there that looks like they’re playing like they believe they can win, and fully, professionally intend to.

AFA looked real good. Would have killed ****braska.

I think AFA has Boise State beat, or hanging heavy on the ropes next week...or it’s just the Buffs curse of making average offenses look like point-stacking machines. Though, CSU has put up 30+ on every team so far this season. The nubs would lose to MWC teams.

This game was clearly a level set. Fusker game got me, and most likely everyone, a bit giddy. Realistic expectation for me is 6 wins, which will be difficult unless we can start playing complete games.

While I’m disappointed, I think we are underselling the huge inherent advantages AF had going into this game.

1. Same as CSU, nothing to lose and everything to gain.

2. Two weeks to rest and game plan the Buffs. After playing a cream puff opener.

3. Buffs facing an option offense for first time in years. With a brand new coaching staff.

4. Back to back emotionally charged wins against motivated rivals, including the heart stopping OT win last week.

This game had massive trap written all over it and we still lost in OT after a blocked xp in the 4th quarter.

MT isn’t going to make excuses or point fingers. Which is exactly the right thing for a good coach to do, but as fans, to ignore the factors we were facing in this game is unfair.

This. Nebraska was exciting (second half) with the right outcome. TD pass with 26 seconds left or we’d be 1-2 and moaning about the new coach. Air Force status is being elevated throughout this discussion because the alternative is hard to consider. We’ll see how things proceed but either AF is really good or CU is not so good as we hoped.

Or else we just had a bad day....

Air Force likely a win if we
Would have lost to Nebraska. As
Much as the players and coaches say it wasnt a let down, it had a lot to do with it.

Back foot Montez....bad defensive game plans..LOS domination..
.failure to seal the edge....AZs qb is going to have 300....love MT..but how and why have we been manhandled in the trenches absent a few series...THREE games where the opposing teams havent punted in the first half....wierd p12 season coming up....have no idea what to expect except Montez will throw off his back foot and sail several passes to wide open receivers..

No doubt, Still, I would hope we could beat AF at home even with a let down. It was important to win a game we should win.

Buffs aren't beating anyone on the road except ucla. Arizona and Stanford at home maybe. USC and washington at home not likely so 4-8 or 5-7.

Gonna need better recruiting, more than just a few more higher ranked 3 star guys.

There is no way in hell we should be giving up 80 yard pass plays to Air Force. Do I know why it happened? Sure, played in option offenses for quite a few years. We you can't get any pressure at all, you are hanging your secondary out to dry, too. Get caught peeking in the backfield instead of doing your job, it's over, assignment football at it's finest.

I am still the same. I picked the Nebraska and AFA games wrong but that all evens out. Nebraska is a fraud. And AFA exposed CU, should of never happened at home. All the excuses about the option are not relevant, the book on defending the option has been out a long time. AFA out executed CU for most of the game. IF AFA can get pressure on our QB it shows that we have more trouble than we thought on the OL. I see wins against UCLA and Arizona but UCLA is on the road which has been tough on the Buffs for the last 13 years. We have only won 9 road games since we joined the PAC12.
