Recruiting so far...

What grade would you give Tucker and his staff for their recruiting efforts so far?

Should not be worried about "losing" an average WR to Kansas. The staff has been pretty clear on their top targets.
Could be this guy that he is talking about

It seems like recruiting is getting worse as the season goes on, which is strange, considering we are outperforming expectations right now. You'd think that would cause recruiting to get better... It seems like we aren't even in the running for any additional highly sought after prospects outside of Rice. It's disappointing.

I didn't assign a grade when this thread first was made because like I said, it was way too early to even judge. But now is a reasonable time to make a preliminary assessment and I'm giving them a C-/D+. We have major holes on the team that aren't getting addressed and frankly my recruiting expectations were much higher, considering Tucker said that his staff were going to be relentless recruiters. It's pretty clear by now that some of them aren't, I'm really hoping some changes get made in the offseason because I'm going to be very disappointed if Tucker believes this level of recruiting is acceptable

My thoughts exactly. I will say that I’m giving HCMT the benefit of the doubt. I think he knows what he is doing. I wouldn’t be surprised to see some late flips come to us, but there is no doubt, recruiting has slowed down considerably.

Need to get some BIG guys in. DL imperticularly but also OL. BIG bodies and steady rotation is what the good teams do. I gave it a C for now.

This team needs pass rushers in the worst way. I like who we have committed but we need impact D lineman and we need them ASAP.

Although it has cooled down, the coaching staff has made it a priority to get many OVs in each June and that's when we saw a bunch of commits. Would I like to see some commits soon, yes (i feel good about our chances with Brenden Rice btw). With that in mind, there is a long time until final signing day in February. I have no idea how many we can take in this class but if we can keep the momentum up of our season and finish respectably, I think we get some flips and hopefully at least a couple 4 star guys.

Looking ahead to next year with a new QB and possibly without Viska, Mustafa and Landman....could be a tough year so we need to make the most of this season.

Recruiting has slowed down mostly because of arithmetics. The class is mostly filled, and staff is being highly selective on remaining additions.

The final signing day is in February, but the real signing day is now less than three months out. It ain't early anymore and has not been for awhile.

I haven't looked at the exact numbers lately but this should be a pretty full class. I'd estimate 7 or 8 open schollies open still but perhaps @Duff Man, @BuffStampede or @Buffnik could provide a more precise answer.

Anywhere between 22-25. Still fairly fluid.

Looking to take another inside linebacker (keep a close eye on Vai Kaho now that Caleb Johnson is transferring to UCLA), still looking at some receivers (Brenden Rice is announcing on Monday), plan to take another tight end (Louis Passarello visiting this weekend and could jump on board), and they need two more defensive linemen. Probably another safety and best available with remaining spots. They are done on the offensive line this cycle unless someone like Andrew Gentry makes a surprise decision and picks the Buffs.

Thanks for the summary!

I was relentless in chasing girls and trying to get laid in high school.

And I had about as much success as Brumbaugh trying to get a high school DL star to commit.
