Official Buffs vs. USC Game Thread

So you who watched on television, was the officiating as horrible as it appeared from the stands or was CU guilty as charged? Also, did they show the CU receiver get taken down in the middle of his route? I think it was on the play where Montez got hurt. And it looked from the stands that the guy who tackled Montez did all he could to drop his full weight on Montez.

It was tough to say, ****in ESPN would never show the replay of the penalty. They were however calling for a penalty on the Montez late hit, out of bounds, unnecessary roughness, obvious penalty that those Jack Sh!7 ref assholes let go.

Are you guys really talking about officiating? Because I just got back from that 3 hours of Folsom Fun, and I saw:
  • A confused, ineffective defensive scheme that was outmatched and outplayed on the line ... on every single play.
  • An offense that KNOWS its defense is confused, ineffective, and largely disorganized, YET chooses to throw a jump ball anyway, WHEN there are at least FIVE really effective ground options.
Bad calls. Yeah, sure.
I only asked the how the officiating looked on TV. Not blaming the loss on bad officiating. But I think you’re a bit too critical of the team’s play. The defense actually showed some life last night. Yeah, in the end they weren’t good enough.

I wonder how long the concussion protocol takes to run. They had SM in and out of that locker room in about 2 minutes. TV thought he was spacey and he looked that way.

Some very disappointing play calls in the 4th. A couple of times MT looked like he wanted to say something as DC was talking to players - but bit his tounge

so frustrating and dont even know what to think or how to feel... of all the loses (a bunch) this one really cuts deep and hurts BAD. 1st time I have felt physically sick walking out of Folsom.

How is that though. Shooting yourself in the dick multiple times is a part of what defines a team as not playing better than the other team? Are we just going to ignore all of those and say we played better? USC didn’t have many/any of those dick stomps. Their qb and wr made plays when the game was on the line.

So you’re saying you believe that the team that plays better wins in every single sporting event? USC might be a better team, CU played better. It was fairly obvious for 3/4 of the game. They eventually blew it in the end like we’re all used to. USC knows they stole one here.

Starting to be the coach that blames the kids and the ball bounce, definitely not the coaches. He should take the blame on this one, disapointed

I know that players and teams should overcome penalties and ref play, but FFS the shot on Montez vs the shot on young, skinny USC QB# 8 (credited role?). The ****ty spot that the refs gave the Buffs vs the generous spot given to USC. Any momentum building play was called for something.

as far as the coaches, just run with conviction. Montez was not fit to play the remainder of the game. Let Senstrom play and manage the clock. You have a pro caliber kicker, kick a field goal. Don’t call stupid plays...you see your loopy QB throw a pass 20 ft high to your 5’8” wide out, question it! You see your QB having a great game until a clear cheap shot takes him out...question the refs and US****. Stick up for your players, challenge something! Just don’t sit there on your hands. Also you don’t ****ing bellyflop onto a loose football. Both of those fumbles were very strong analogies to this game - Buffs had a shot, but batted it away to USC.

And so it goes MT has made the same mistake as the coaching graveyard in front of him by hiring weak A** O/D coordinators. Is it because CU cant afford great O/D coordinators? If MT and RG really want to win, why not take a Tom Brady pay cut to get the best Coordinators in the game?

I am still angry at the referee situation, but my anger stems from a larger belief that there is some shadiness in the P12 and their baby USC. SC is the marquee brand in the conference. Do we really believe that there isn't inherent bias towards that team?

1. Why wasn't the late hit/targeting called or reviewed, when in other games it's reviewed under extremely questionable hits
**TARGETING WAS DESIGNED TO PROTECT QB's AND DEFENSELESS PLAYERS**
2. Why wasn't that 1st down reviewed?
3. How bad of a look was it and how defeating and against idea of fair competition is it to allow Helton to take a time out and b**ch enough to not only get his way but to get his time out backj?!?!
4. According to DBT's report, a WR was pulled down?!

Anyone remember when SC went to the Rose Bowl when we earned it? (glad we didn't in the end, I knocked down about 7 beers at the Alamo Bowl watching that dumpster fire ending to 2016)

Fucla, maybe
Stanford, probably
Washington, nope
Utah, nope

How does 5-7, 5-7, and probably rinse repeat feel? Sux.

2020 schedule
@ Csewe, very likely
Fresno, who knows but ok
@ aTm, nope
@ AZ, who knows but ok
Stripper U, relative trajectories suggest unlikely
OR, nope
Fucla, sure why not
Yoots, relative trajectories suggest unlikely
Wazzu, ok sure
@ Stan, who knows but ok
@ Spoiled Children, nope
@ WA, nope

That’s another maybe bowl season....or another rinse repeat. Gawddamn it.

I wouldn’t necessarily put A&M on nope. They barely beat Arkansas and Ole Miss. 2 terrible teams

I can’t help but think they won’t let the refs go, because the refs will do what it takes to get the highest profile PAC 12 teams wins. SC in the championship game is way better for them than Utah.

I was just checking to see if maybe the P12 net was showing the Buff BB game today. of course not. but, at 2:00 they have a 2-hour version of the 1994 Miracle in michigan. roll up a big one and forget about last night for awhile

I still feel like we can manage three more wins at of four games remaining. All players on the field will need to play flawlessly out of their minds and ready to stomp mouths and step on necks...coaches included. They need a special showing on 11/9 to bolster the future. A win against UDUB would be absolutely crazy and could carry some momentum to SLC. Perfect in November? Show them how well conditioned and relentless

That was Viska who got straight up tackled by a DB at the 20 yard line. Not sure how the ref missed it because most of the people in our section saw it pretty clearly based on the reaction when he got pulled down to the turf.

You can’t project a season out. Far too much turnover, injuries, unexpected development, additions, etc for CU and their opponents. Next years schedule is on par with this years, maybe a little tougher. Hopefully CU is also a better team in year 2 under Tucker

How baked are you?

I would agree it is really hard to project a season out, but it would not shock me at all if this team is within that 6-win range in November next season, again. It seems to be our sweet spot.

:cry::cry::cry::cry:I woke up in a cold sweat.

I had a nightmare that Colorado had a lead and stopped running the ball when they were averaging 5.76 YPC against a banged up USC front 7.

In this nightmare, we had a defender who dropped two INTs and didn’t cover a fumble that was right in front of him.

In this nightmare, we had the spirit of bad montez banished from Folsom until a late hit concussed goos montez, giving way for bad montez to return.

Colorado lost this game in dream and the supporters were super sad.

Oh no, I realized something far worse. I had to ask myself: it wasn’t a nightmare after all? It all actually happened?!

It was so blatant that I thought the db figured he was beaten and decided to take the penalty.

They have to figure out how to get the defense ready to go right away. That first drive was way too easy.

Fun game to watch. Frustrating outcome.

Good game to sell recruits on.

Let me respond to the "Blame the referees" stuff with a couple thoughts-One, we're a Pac 12 school people. The only team the officials AREN'T awful are when we're playing OOC games against teams who bring their own referees. Two, that's a ****ing losers lament. We were the better team last night and found a way to give the football game away.
