Karl Dorrell officially named Colorado HC

Which assistant coaches (especially coordinators) are risking their careers with Chev as HC? Disaster written all over it.

CU has to overpay regardless of the next HC, so the next HC better have some pull.

Which is why RG needs to hire a real HC that can bring most or all of his current staff with him.

I like the idea of Alex Grinch. A lot. No idea if that’s a realistic hire, but we could do a whole lot worse.

No issue with Chev as the interim. RG said they were going to name one this afternoon to help guide the team while they did their search. Step one completed on the timeline promised. Now go find the very best coach you can afford. There are coordinators out there who will be interested.

CU should settle for nothing less than the kind of mindset, experience and feeling that MT created during his short time here. That’s not Chiv under any circumstances.

Don't understand why EB is a joke. You're talking about a guy who was just the offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl winning team and is being interviewed by NFL for HC positions. We would be lucky to get EB.
Black guy only gets one chance with some folks.

Not saying that's it with all the EB naysayers.

Or even most of them.

But that is it with what is probably an uncomfortably high percentage of them - even if they say it isn't (because of course they will).

This is partially why I am ok with Mel Tucker getting that $28mm...

My long Short List that I would send feelers out to...
(in no particular order)

Matt Campbell
Blake Anderson
Dave Clawson
Billy Napier
Sonny Dykes
Urban Meyer

You're the most predictable and boring poster here. Get a new schtick.

Please elaborate on why that is not Chiv.

I agree about the same mindset that MT created here in Boulder.

Don't disagree about black guys only getting one chance which is unfortunate.

This thread is so depressing, I can’t believe we’re discussing this again. Being a CU fan has been an abysmal experience for a very long time now. I just can’t muster the enthusiasm to care about this right now.

I’m just pissed. So pissed. I renewed my season tickets today and I will there to support the team, **** Mel Tucker, I won’t punish the students.

I don’t know why we’re cursed but I’m just praying this was the path that was intended because we’re going to hire a home run.

Unfortunately, I’ve thought this before so many times before this. Sigh.

I thought Tucker was going to do a good job here.

I liked an awful lot about him.

This sucks.

My cynicism toward the business of college football has reached a new level this morning.
All sports are like that, not just college football. Any business reliant upon PERSONAL SERVICES contracts is like that!

A wise and skillful manager understands that PS contracts aren't worth the paper they're written, but rather dependent upon the goodwill and integrity of the person performing the service, so such manager takes steps to craft his PS contracts in a manner that discourages disloyalty first, encourages solid and consistent performance and provides mitigation when the PS contract is broken.

Gotta remember, too, the performer also usually has his own skilled and wiley advisors, so every deal is constructed as a compromise that both sides can live with, under the immediate circumstances and within the context of the industry in which it is conducted !

Happens. The killer in this case is not the CFB system, it's that a trusted performer revealed he has no personal integrity and lied to our faces! Hence, the disdain displayed by the old saw, "Don't piss down my neck, then try and convince me it's rainin'!

Or as Otter said: "Flounder, you can't spend your whole life worrying about your mistakes! You ****ed up... you trusted us! "

He does not have the perspective, experience, grooming, mentors, exposure, Rolodex, leadership skills, or gravitas of a coach ready to be a HC. He would never generate the kind of atmosphere Mel Tucker did here. And he wouldn’t get a whiff at other programs similar to CU in tier and stature. I want something better
