Assistants

He’s got to recruit lights out or it’s a bad hire. Kittle and Kelce are who they are because of Kittle and Kelce not Taylor Embree, so if he can leverage having worked with them to recruit big time players great, if not it’s going to be a failed friends and family hire.

I said the same thing about one Brian Michalowski last year.

Yeah obviously he isn’t going to be STC too. Must be thinking S or CB coach can handle those roles cause OL/DL coaches certainly won’t and Chev, Hagan, Summers and Mich are also not going to
I could see Mich handling half of it. I think he helped a bunch last year and is a student of the full game. I wouldn't slot him as a OLB specialist and he will probably move around a bit and could end up on either side of the ball at some point. ST responsibility in some capacity would probably be something he can take on.

If there's any truth to the Ronnie Bradford whispers, he'd make sense as STC. He did ST with the Broncos.

Seems like Mich is in line for RC to me. Just a hunch based on reports so far.

What are the specific responsibilities of a RC? I feel like that’s a lot for a second year position coach, regardless of how promising his recruiting chops are.
Yes. I agree. He seems to have the inclination but likely needs some seasoning. Assuredly Chiv can’t Be the OC and the RC. Recruiting staff - and especially operations and attitude - need stay at the Mel Tucker level, at a minimum IMO.

Not really. I fee like RC picks who and where to send certain AC’s and helps set up the overall recruiting board

Chev had both titles in 2018. I don't think it matters-we can make he and BM co-recruiting coordinators if we want.

I wonder how much of the AC selection is a product of being so far behind the curve given Melvin Huckster's ill timed departure, and how much is driven by a desire to "get the band back together".

I wonder aloud, again, at the utility of installing a pro offense in the 20 hour a week practice regimen of CFB. If the O plays like it has a Y-Stick up its backside, we'll know why.

He is due for an opportunity.

Taylor Embree is in his fourth season in the NFL and third with the 49ers as an offensive quality control coach. He joined San Francisco after spending the 2016 season as a defensive assistant with the Kansas City Chiefs.
With Kansas City, Embree worked with a Chiefs defense that led the NFL with 104 passes defensed and tied for the most interceptions (18). Prior to his year in Kansas City, Embree was a graduate assistant/offensive assistant for the UCLA football program in 2014.
Embree played collegiately at UCLA for four seasons (2008-11) where he ranked third on the team in receptions (20) as a senior after either leading or ranking second in catches and receiving yards in each of his first three seasons. He appeared in all 50 games (32 starts) at UCLA and finished with 137 receptions for 1,776 yards (13.0 average) and four touchdowns.
He left UCLA ranked eighth on the school's all-time list for receptions and 13th in receiving yards. After going undrafted in the 2012 NFL Draft, Embree signed with the San Diego Chargers where he spent training camp with the team.
A native of Denver, CO, Embree attended Blue Valley West (Overland, KS) HS and is the son of current 49ers assistant head coach/tight ends coach Jon Embree. He and his wife, Kristina, have one son, Grayson.

So RG and KD want us to believe they value recruiting and they hire someone who has really never been involved in college recruiting for arguably the second biggest recruiting position on the staff outside of RB coach?

Yeah but we don't know if he is a good recruiter or not. We will find out soon.

Taylor Embree is due for an opportunity. Being a former player at UCLA and working under John should give himsome street cred especially with instate recruiting. Colorado native.
