I don't generally repost rumors from other boards ... bu my buddy and I who attended the spring game were both wondering why we didn't see Miaeva line up at FB on more that a couple opf plays and were wondering WTF was going on. The guy was a frosh AA last year ... I' questioned the move from the beginning.

WTF?!?

Meh. I don't trust any posts that come from Netbuffs. I think the reason Kai hasn't been seeing alot of time is because of grade issues. He's been apart of Hawkins' 'mentoring' programs this year. But who knows. I am really excited about Mo Cantrell this year. He really stepped up in spring ball.

redshirt candidate?

i am starting to wonder if that is the plan w/ kai. no evidence, other than my own pure speculation...

I heard he cleaned out his locker today and is transferring. He will try to go to USC because his brother is there but will most likely end up somewhere like San Diego State.

I have no info, but there sure is a lot of activity on the Rivals elite board about Kai. I'd hate to see him leave. But on the other hand, players leave DI programs every year.

I wish I could say these rumors surprise me, but I have been against the move from the start. You don't take a guy out of the starting lineup, make him lose weight to change positions, bury him on the depth chart, and expect him to be happy.

The other concerning thing (if true) is that Celestine might be mulling the same decision. He really came on at the end of last season, it would be a shame to lose him now.

Hope he stays. I think he could be a force at FB (ala Javorski Lane at TAMU). But if he chooses to go, I wish nothing but the best for him. I enjoyed watching him play last year and loved the passion and toughness with which he played. Guys transfer from every program in the country, for a thousand different reasons. Like Coach Mac used to say about recruiting, don't worry about the ones you don't get, worry about coaching up the ones you do get. Again, I hope he stays.

That would be somewhat believable but the same "source" also says that Celestine is leaving? Why would someone who is going to START for 4 years here take off? He saw reps last year and with the trio of WR's this year (Simas, Smith, Celestine) why on earth would he bolt? I call bull$hit.

Here's what does not add up to me. Coaches tell Kai they think he'll make a better fullback than OG or C. Kai discusses with his family, decides to take the challenge and embraces the move (as reported in all the papers).

Spring ends, and his learning curve is not quite as steep as it once was expected.

If he was really that unhappy, wouldn't he go back to the coaches and say so? Would Hawk respond to Kai's request to move back to OL with "its fullback, or the highway"?

Perhaps I'm being naive, but that does not jive with Hawk's style.

Also, there is nothing preventing the other OGs (Bahr, Faatagi, Iltis, Behrens, Daniels) - all of whom redshirted or (in Faatagi's case) were ineligible last year - from beating Kai out this year. Kai was not guaranteed PT on the OL either.

So, if (and that's a big IF) he decides to leave because he's not getting enough PT at the FB position, would he have done the same if he had been beaten out of the starting OG spot? That doesn't jive with Kai's personality.

Either this report is 100% Bull****, or there is something else going on that we don't know about.

He didn't start last year and he won't start this year so your comment that he will start for 4 years is off. Celestine is down the list of options right now. You talk about the trio of receivers, but you completely forgot about Williams and McKnight.

IMO your analysis is right on. I suspected Kai was moving to FB because of Iltis, Behrens, Daniels, Bahr and Fataagi's progress. If he isn't going to get reps at FB either, I could see him being unhappy.

One of my buddies has a rivals account and just confirmed this is true from two of the most reliable Rivals guys. If you have a Rivals account please don't kill me for spreading this info. This is relevant to the program. And sorry to be the one who confirms this as well...

So is it just Kai, or Kai and Celestine?

But he's not getting reps because he hasn't been at practice. The one time that he was involved in a play during the spring game he lined up in the wrong spot and had to be directed where to go. It seems that if he was to get some practice time in, he'd be fine and a valuable asset.

My guess is that either this is nothing to this rumor or Kai has some serious grade issues. Is the drop period over?

He said, as of now, Celestine is staying (this from the same guys at Rivals). So it's just Kai. I will keep hounding him for information as long as I don't get in trouble here if I post it.

Please do. Thanks.

This is nothing against Kai, he is a great player, but if he does decide to try and pursue SC he thinks he has a chance to play? USC is the NFL team of LA and I doubt they are looking for a 6'0 285 lb guard. He will be lower on the depth chart at SC than he would be here.

Maybe starting was the wrong word, however, he did play in 11 games last year and made a few critical catches against OU. I just dont understand why he would leave.

The whole reason they moved him to FB is because he WASN'T going to start on the OL anymore. People can disagree with the move, but if he stayed at OL, he wasn't going to see the field, so he moves to FB. Great, maybe it works for him, maybe it doesn't, the coaching staff did what they could to make sure he would see the field and be productive. If he doesn't like it, it's his right to go somewhere else. He had a solid freshman season, and with some work, he'll make a sick FB, but the season doesn't hinge on whether he stays or goes.

Right now he's behind Simas, Smith, McKnight (sp?), Williams..... He's not going to see the field much, and the guys hes behind are young, so they're not leaving soon for him to replace them.

This is going to happen a lot over the next year or two, might as well get used to it. Hawk's recruiting classes keep getting better and better, the incoming talent is better and better, which means that people from previous classes, even as good as they are, are going to be supplanted by younger, better talent, which means we're going to see them leave for greener pastures. It's all part of the cycle of rebuilding a program.

I understand that but if we are going by that, why did he play last year and Simas was the one to redshirt? He will play this year, not nearly as much as last year, but we cant only play 4 recievers this year game in and game out.
