Herrod had 1 tackle that I saw in the spring game and what is the deal with Conrad Obi? Did I miss him at the spring game or was he on the sideline not playing?

These two have been talked up and raved about by coches, will these two be able to get us some sacks at de or have they been overhyped?

Obi was in, but he didn't make much noise. I believe he was the guy Kai blocked on his one and only play. I expected to see more as well.

no, that was lucas....i was watching MoLu since we went to the same HS....so i DO remember that play.

Obi played very mediocre in the spring game after having 2 great scrimmages, I dont know if it was on his end or he just struggled against the 1st team O or what but I was really suprised at his performance in the SG after the scrimmages.

WOW...the school was brand new back then! Class of 1994 for me!

Yes it was! My class was the 2nd graduating class @ RHS. I went to Gateway my frosh year. I went to Mracheck Middle school as well.

I look at the school website from time to time.

i lived my entire childhood 2 blocks North of Mracheck on Telluride....but I went to Columbia....long story....when I was in 1st grade my parents would drop me off at the sitter's house and i'd walk to school. she lived over by dalton/columbia so that's where i went....when it was time to go to middle school, i chose to go where all of my friends were.

Gateway sucks! lol

so did you go to school with terry taylor jr...?

Gateway does suck! I grew up walking distance to Mrachek and RHS. Oregon Place was the road. Got my first speeding ticket right in front of Mrachek, just up the hill there. 35 in a 25. Aurora PD loved that spot.

Yes, I went to school with Taylor. He was a year ahead of me. He went on to Stanford if memory serves and did quite well in the PAC10. His pops was the coach. Great hoops team. Won state my junior year. Big man, James Wilson, went to Youngstwon St. Taylor was unstoppable. Didnt have a 3point line then if memory serves but he was popping them from all over the court.

Glad to meet a fellow Raider!

who dat? who dat? who dat say they gonna beat dem raiders...? (GW...apparently...)

I chant that we started! Sweet! Nice. Hopefully sometime I can make it back home and swing by the ole stomping grounds, although I hear it isnt what it used to be...

it's not THAT bad....but it has gone downhill, as most places do over time.....

you're a few years older...but do you remember Ernest Williams....all state RB from Rangeview who ended up going to OU....? he graduated from HS in 89...he was my next door neighboor.

That entire area was brand new when we lived there. My folks had a home built there and we loved it. The area was so new and clean. It was really a nice area to raise a family in.

I keep in touch w/ very few of my classmates from 86. Living so far away (im in Ohio) has alot to do with it. But from time to time I will get/send emails to some folks and we get a chuckle out of all the BS we used to partake in while in Aurora back in the 80s. We were regulars at Mardi Gras back then.

To be honest, the name escapes me (Williams). I will have to dig out the ole yearbook from 86 and see if I can find him. Suppose he would have been a frosh in 86.

Mardi Gras was a 3.2 bar when Colorado had those bars. Only served beer when the drinking age for 3.2 brew was 18. Law changed shortly after I turned 18 I think. That place was hoppin in the mid 80s.

I dont recall the bridge or silos to be honest. Perhaps I was either clueless in HS or those spots became popular after I left. Were they near Buckley AFB?

LORD HELMET is back! Hey you ohio hick,I can't keep up with all your monikers, just stick the BRUTUS the Hairless Nut:smile2:

3rd bridge was just east of aurora....the bridge that was "haunted" by native american spirits...and the silos were where "satan worshippers" performed their "rituals and sacrifices"....the older HS kids would always scare the underclassmen with these stories and take them out there....

where was mardi gras?

Crap now I remember that, sorta. We used to drive east of Aurora looking for the satanworshippers. I dont recall ever finding any....

Mardi Gras was in Aurora, but I honestly cannot recall where it was, streetwise. Dont know why but Hampton sounds familiar? Maybe someone with a better memory can help.

Boy I butchered that spelling. LOL. My neighbor worked at Mission Viejo. I just cant really recall where the place was.

We also used to cruise up and down East Colfax if memory serves. Boy that was fun....

And if Buffsyko ever gives you a bad time just remind him he is an Ohio kick at heart - still drives a firebird and has a mullet.

Mardi Gras, Night Flight, Gold Rush, The one at the Sheridan Greystone Castle. Seems like there were more, as we would hit a different dance club / bar every night when I lived in Denver 85-87, but those were the main ones.

West Colfax was the cruise strip back in the mid 80's. If you kept going you would end up back in the foothills. On the wya back there, a girl that I was dating and I slipped back into a park on the far west end of Colfax that had signs up saying 'No entry after 11 PM'. We went over this berm and went back a bit into the park and started to get frisky. So there we are with pretty much no clothes on when we heard this 'ssshhhhh SHKK SSHHKK SHHHKK' sound, which turned out to be the sprinkler systems coming on. By the time we gather clothes and ran the 1/4 mile back to the berm, we topped the berm in time to see a police car behind my RX-7 with both cops looking inside my car with flashlights. She has a skirt on and is holding her shirt in her hands (covering her breasts), I am in jeans and we are holding everything lese we had on earlier and are soaking wet. The cops look up, see us frozen there dripping wet and half naked, bust up laughing, go back and get into thier car and leave.

Pretty cool not to harrass us for being in the park after hours, or for her being indecent.

Toward the end of the crusing scene, the cops would set up roadblock at Sheridan, Wadsworth, ect and make you drive up 6 or 8 blocks before you turned around to go back, and if they saw you three times, they would give tickets for loitering, so they killed off the cruise scene. Same with Neveda Ave in the Springs when I was in HS in 84-85. Tickets out the ying yang for doing nothing at all. Didn't use your turn signal for 500 feet before turning? Ticket. Stupid stuff to stop kids from going out. I got in way less trouble on the cruise strip than I did after we had no place to go.
