The 2021-2022 Coaching Carousel

DeNiro

My Dixie Wrecked
Since we are past spring practices and on our way to fall, it's time for the 2021 carousel to start spinning.

We have our first!

Frank (62-36) Solich is hanging them up. His OC and Associates Head Coach Tim Albin is taking the reigns.

The carousel seems to spin earlier every year. Off we go!

ah, ratso slo-pitch, you will be missed. thank you, indeed, for all you did for fusker football. you sir, were the dan hawkins of that program.

I'd bet he also timed this so that the school wouldn't go outside for the hire. Seems like more long-time HCs are showing loyalty to their assistants by manipulating the process a bit in this way instead of retiring as soon as the season ends. I respect that. Hope it's the main reason for this timing and not that health had become an emergency. Solich always seemed like a solid person.

Solich did a hell of a job there-two losing seasons in 15 years and they've been .500 or better every year since 2008. If I'm the AD there, I'm probably giving Tim Albin a shot anyway for continunity's sake.

I'll put Rolovich on the hotseat for his complete and utter stupidity. This is not how the conference would expect a program to be run during the pandemic and frankly, WSU needs to fire his ass right now. They won't. But they'll wish they had because this will be used against him in the living rooms.

WSU is a complete and utter disaster right now.

for anyone who didn’t read the article or make the connection, Kassidy Woods will be suiting up against the Buffs tonight as he transferred to UNC.

As a side note, I hope that kid ends up somewhere good after his college days. Pullman and Greeley- woof.

If you didn't read the article, the kid carries the Sickle Cell trait and thus did not want to play in 2020 and opted out. His lawsuit alleges that the head coach, Rolovich, applied lots of pressure to keep kids from banding with the "#weareunited" group of players, and those that did, were locked out essentially of being with the team and receiving things like meals. And there's a phone call that's pretty damning.

PAC12 needs to decide if they really do stand for all the principles they claim to advocate for and force WSU to take action. If WSU wants to leave, well that would be dandy!

It went from Randy Edsall stepping down at the end of the year to immediately. UCONN is a mess.

What we need ahead of the new P12 media deal is for the new USC coach to be someone who pulls in Top 10 recruiting classes while constantly making national tv appearances & headlines.

Exactly like the way Harbaugh rolled into Michigan after the RichRod & Hoke disasters.

Reluctantly, the it's never too early for an update, update:

It seems the carousel starts earlier every year, but it was pretty easy to ignore...until yesterday when Mike Bohn dropped the big one.

Open jobs:

Ohio- Frank Solich retires at the end of the year after 16 successful years as the Bobcat HC. (h/t Deniro) Health related retirement. Good for him to leave on is own terms. No idea who takes over.

UCONN- Randy Edsall, formerly a hot prospect, has taken UCONN to depths of despair not previously known. Losses to FCS Holy Cross, and two shutouts against Purdue and Fresno St. sealed his fate. Six wins in his four years as HC of UCONN, 2.0. Ouch. (h/t Deniro) Who is the next person up? Don't know, but Joe Moorhead has been mentioned, I kind of will believe that when I see it.

USC- The big one. (h/t Deniro, also check Jens' USC Fires Clay Helton megathread). Mike Bohn is on the clock. My guess is Fickell, and then Franklin, in that order.

Possibles:

ASU- Herm Edwards has some pretty flagrant stuff hanging over his head, hard to believe it doesn't cost him.

WSU- Nick Rolovich not working and playing well with others. (h/t holic) I thought this could be a good hire, but not looking good so far.

N. Texas- Seth Littrell siting at about .500

Purdue- Jeff Brohm slightly above .500 in year 6.

kNU- Frosty not getting it done in Lincoln. .400 overall and .333 in B1G play in year 4.

NCSt.- Dave Doeren at .600 in year 9.
