Build Rick George a Statue (was #fireRickGeorge)

I can’t believe the gaul of RG. The product on the field is so incredibly bad that it defies reason. I think there is wide agreement that the talent on the team is better than what we are seeing every Saturday.

if we sat at 2-6 but were competitive I think there would be a lot less discontent but five of our six losses were absolute blowouts and we are the worst offense in FBS.

Our head coach wasn’t dialed in enough to understand how bad our OL coach was and nothing we do on offense fits our personal.

This is a dumpster fire of epic proportions and the buck stops with him.

How can he possibly be surprised that he is getting a bunch of negative tweets. How can expect the fan base to be sympathetic to this mess
Two things-
1) One, if our season had gone the way Cal's has to this point, we'd want Dorrell fired because he can't finish games. This record is unacceptable in that scenario as well.
2) Hit the AD where it hurts. I'm not going up there again for anything CU related until we see more changes. I don't have the time to waste on a ****ty ****ing product like this right now.

My wish list is that:
We get a new OC this offseason that is also the QB coach.
We hire a legitimate OLine coach because KD obviously has no clue what goes on there (i.e. his comments regarding Vlachos and the guys learning more in a few days with him vs Sgt. Sled).
We recreate the recruiting infrastructure set up by Mel Tucker (why the hell would we remove this regardless of the coach??).

Otherwise I'm voting with my dollar and dropping my season tickets. This seems like low hanging fruit and a reasonable response from what we have seen on the field.

Phil is only the problem in terms of being supportive without demanding success on the field.

He participates in booster and recruiting functions, says "yes" to every request he can, and supports the AD agenda to his bosses. I love all that. Unfortunately, he doesn't know anything about this department & its KPIs beyond what the director in charge of it tells him is good or bad.
Phil likes the idea of a successful athletic department. He doesn’t have the first clue what it means to achieve that. Furthermore, he isn’t willing to provide the necessary support to achieve that goal. Rubber stamping budget requests is absentee leadership. Did we learn nothing from the Tucker departure? We finally have a coach that we think can get us to where we want to be and he leaves because he can’t get certain players in (and he gets a huge freaking pay raise to boot). We talk about how Tucker is proof that the administration isn’t impeding things when he’s actually proof that they are.

Phil DiStefano did not force Rick George to hire Karl Dorrell
Phil DiStefano did not tell Rick George to hand Karl Dorrell a fully guaranteed $18m contract
Phil DiStefano did not tear down the entire recruiting infrastructure that was in place from Mel Tucker
Phil DiStefano did not force Darrin Chiaverini on three different coaching staffs
Phil DiStefano did not approve the hiring of Mitch Rodrigue
Phil DiStefano is not the ultimate road block to this program winning 6-8 games/year
Phil DiStefano isn’t doing anything to make the situation any better.

Never hit on the hottest. She expects it as her due. Hit on one of her good looking friends instead. The friend is probably someone you'll like better and odds are the alpha hottie will throw herself at you anyway because she can't stand not being the center of attention.

(Relating this to coaches, this means going after the right fit instead of the hyped flavor of the year. Hyped guy's agent will reach out to you to use you to leverage a deal with some other sucker while you go with the better option.)
Yep, the hotter chick would get jealous as hell. End of the day, you'd probably end up getting to bang both of them.

If people are going to make dumb arguments they probably shouldn’t use their sock account to do it.

Why are you defending DiStefano?

He sucks. Not defending him at all. But saying we can’t make any fixes because he’s there is admitting that we should shut down the entire program. As others have proven, he’s incompetent and he’s keeping us from being big time but he’s not keeping us from 6-8 wins yearly. So what is keeping us from that level? Pretty clear that we have a big problem that wears little Nikes.

Worrying about Phil keeping us from winning national titles is like worrying about buying a Porsche when you can’t afford rent.

Renewed RG contract?
This is the first argument I’ve seen in this thread that truly holds some merit. RG has clearly given up, so by extending him, DiStefano accepted the much below average performances of RG (and by extension KD). Until that extension, as much as DiStefano sucks, he wasn’t holding the program back from being at least average

Ok but until about two months ago, most people were fine with the extension. Again, you’re talking about the AD that hired Tucker and tried going after Sark. DiStefano was on board with all of that. It was Rick George who gave up and hired Dorrell and gave him this contract, which is why we’re in this position.

And if you have an employee who’s given up and you don’t do anything about it, you’re the problem.

I put this here because I'm not yet convinced RG has given up. It is possible that he made a terrible hire with a terribly negotiated contract but did so with good intentions. Addressing the above (or failing to do so) determines if he still cares about winning and if I should care to support the team IMO.

*clears throat*

There was virtually zero bitching about him prior to this season, besides from Goose. He’s been very consistent.

That’s better!

Good news is if RG negotiated his contract there’s a decent chance we can fire him tomorrow and have him owe us money.
