*OFFICIAL* Deion Sanders aka Coach Prime is the new CU Football Head Coach thread

I was 10 I believe when CU won the national title. I remember cheering with my dad at that game. That lead to being a huge fan through middle school. I developed my arch nemesis Tony Davis in middle school. Josh Davis older brother. Their dad played for Nebraska we gave each other **** nonstop.

I did drop off a bit as a fan in high school. Girls became more important. Later in life I got back on the bandwagon and made a fan site. I never went to CU. Yet here I am.

CU being good in the 90s and couple years into the 2000s made a huge impact on this guy. Would be awesome to see Colorado kids excited about CU football again.

Same....

I was 13. I never attended CU, still here though, middle of West Virginia rocking the CU colors each day.

Transferred fandom to my son, who now carries the colors with me.

I'm the random guy who donates to a school I never attended, will never be able to attend. I forced my son to apply just to have his acceptance letter [he was already going to VMI].

I've never been more excited for the future of our team.

I'm a Utah State Alumni who does root for his Aggies but I'm going to get a graduate degree from CU starting in 2023 and I've always liked the Buffs and watched them plus I'm 20 minutes outside of Boulder! Go Buffs!

This is true. Just ask @Hank, the author of the thread that got us through the Bataan Death March of a football season we just went through.

What a silly take.

He was addressing a 1-11 roster with a lot of kids that honestly don't belong on a P5 roster. Did Skippy actually watch any of CU's conference games?

More than that though, I took most of his address to the team to mean, "make your choice now, before I get back - you're going to work your ass off and earn your spot, or your spot's not going to be here".
Well he did also say that depending upon the review of them currently (he did not specify where that review comes from), they would be gone anyway. I believe it came up when a player asked about injured players and he said they’d be rehabbed unless the list he received said they weren’t worth a darn. Paraphrasing, but that was the just as I heard it.

I have always viewed sports radio and sports center as something boomers like my dad do. **** is so boring. Maybe I’m just a casual sports fan.

I listened to it when I was younger. Like everything else, it's all about shock and response anymore. People throw out 'hot takes' and try to stir the pot.

I didn't mind it when there were just two things that happened: guys did actual analysis about this sport or that sport, or they took callers. Yeah, the callers would sometimes throw out hot takes, but generally those people were shut down and they went back to talking semi-rationally.

My dad used to listen to Irv and Joe when I was growing up and I hated it so much. Now I listed to sports talk radio almost exclusively when driving alone. But I'm 46....I mean 35

I enjoyed local sports radio people like Irv & Joe and Thierry Smith back in the day. It wasn’t all Broncos all the time and they weren’t arrogant, obnoxious blowhards. Listening to them was like talking sports with a friend. I quit listening at least 15 years ago. Can’t stand guys like DMac. And quite honestly, 99.9% of player and coach interviews are boring as fvck. Same questions and answers year after year.

I‘m sure there will be some entertaining moments with Coach Prime, but I know people will post them here.

I liked CJ and Klatt back when they had a show. However, most shows I find the hosts repetitive and idiotic. It also depends on when I have a commute or not.

DMac is unlistenable. Alfred Williams can be okay, but he needs a partner that can drive the show.

Also, way too heavy on broncos locally.

His choice of words stunk. he basically told those guys "you're not wanted, hit the road". Not the way to treat a Buff.
Use some words DS: "you'll each meet with an ass't coach and your situation will be reviewed, etc"
Leave them with some dignity.

only thing that I haven't liked so far.
Some of y'all are really soft, never played sports, or got cut from said sport.

some of you have no idea what it is to be a scholarship athlete, who gives his or her all, mentally and physically to their university and team, for 3, 4, 5 years. These kids absolutely deserved a closed-door meeting Fact is, as DS said at his intro, the documentary crew was there and filming. They filmed the Jackson players' announcement and had to film this too. DS should have said "no", but he's showman and put one on.

Or had tough fathers. What Prime says to those MEN was a piece of cake compared to what my Dad would say to me on any given Tuesday. He was a military guy and had no tolerance for certain things and let it be known. Nothing wrong with challenging these men to toughen up a bit.
I ended up playing basketball with a hairline fracture in my wrist that hurt like a motha. My dad told me to shake it off so I went on (tendons must've held it together). Years later when I had to get that arm xrayed for something else they said oh by the way your broken wrist healed up very nice.

I'll go with Coach Prime on how he's handling this. I believe he knows just a little itsy bit about what he's doing.

The players seem fine with it. Keep clutching them pearls though.

Damn. Basically said they all suck and he’s getting better players to replace them.
A good friend in college played for Hawk and Embree and Embree tried the same thing. That blew up in his face and the whole team hated him. Obviously Embree isn’t Prime.

Whatever. Just win at this point
Embree can't recruit like Prime can. Embree never had 4* and 5* guys tweeting @ him to see if he's got room on the roster for them. Embree just couldn't back up his words.

Jeremy Bloom was just on the Fan and said that he approached RG the day KD was fired with the idea of hiring Prime. Said he got Steve Smith, Brandon Marshall, and Sean Merriman to help him reach out to Prime about the job.

Bloom was also very complimentary of RG saying he deserves all the credit as he made it al happen and closed the deal
