Games thread- MEN'S bball hosts USC (Thurs., 2/23/23, 7:00 MT; ESPN2) and #3/4 UCLA (Sunday, 2:00 PM MT, CBS)

Quincy is completely lost on defense, yet his athleticism is off the chart. Watching him playing reminds of Travis Hunter. It's another "what could have been" story.

CU on a 9-0 run, U$c still with a 10cpt lead.

Andy calls a time out.9-0 run ends.

That

That is what I ****ing want from tad.

Stop letting your team get into a hole you ****ing know they can't get out of.

Sad when Andy ****ing enfold coaches tad under the table, at home.

TDS is basically a wing, but I don't consider Gabbidon or Ruffin "wings"
Gabbidon, Ruffin and Nique I'd consider 2s who can play wing if you go to a small lineup. Hadley is guard height and PF skillset, so I don't know what to call him.

TDS is a wing, I guess, since he's hard to quantify. Seems that he is usually guarded by the other team's 4 and draws that cover himself, though. I don't know how to slot him.

It's a weird team. Especially since I would have expected them to cause all sorts of matchup problems when on offense but maybe need to hide matchup deficiencies in a zone on defense - but D has been our better side while playing mostly man.

Weird team.

I've got to think that going into this year Tad was thinking his main lineup would be:

KJ as primary ball handler
Nique as off guard (40% 3pt last season)
Quincy as wing
TDS as a point forward
Lawson as rim protector

Then a bunch of guys off the bench that each have some drawbacks that limits them in some matchups but each bring a positive to a limited role.

That's what I expected, at least. In the cases of Nique and QA, it didn't happen at all. With other guys, there has been a mix of injuries and struggling in their role (i.e., Ethan not being a reliable 3pt shooter and Hammond not being an efficient player).

Disgraceful. Tad was dealt a tough hand with this game and all the injuries, but I'd still fire him tomorrow. Fire Tad.

Hey look, Andy's "overly quick" timeout resulted in a complete momentum swing.

Almost as if that's why you use them.

It's so ****ing weird.

Wasting one of the best offensive nights from LL

This is a first round pac12 loss, no NIT bid team. They are actively getting worse.

I get that you love timeouts.

I don't mind them, but it's definitely a matter of "feel" for a coach and not something that is backed by statistics as being helpful. Data actually leans toward it hurting more than helping if you call a timeout to stop a run or halt momentum.

You’re an absolute ****ing moron if you think coaching is a big issue in this game. CU is simply overmatched, and USC is laughably out-talenting CU. Its absolute garbage to recruit non-PAC 12 caliber players, like the two Ivy’s, Hammond, LOB, etc. In fact, other than KJ and da Silva, this team is pitifully untalented for a PAC 12 program.

Tonight, I watched us not call one until a 4 pt lead turned into a 9 point deficit, at which point we did call one and the run stopped.

I watch us go on a 9-0 run, at which point u$c Calle one (with a 10 pt lead), at which point they went on to outscore us by 10 in the next 3 minutes.

By the way, we just took 2 timeouts with us to the locker room. Those ought to do us a **** ton of good on Sunday, when we get to keep them, right?

**** off with this hlbull****. Tad doesn't know how or when to use them. We have to have taken 30 timeouts home with us, just in losses this year.

I don't know what to say if you are so sure of an opinion that you not only won't consider data which contradicts but also offer no data of your own and seem to get upset at any suggestion you're not right.

Cherry picking examples of when a coin flip works in favor of your opinion isn't valid support for an argument.

don’t drag LOB like that. he probably shouldn’t be starting on a typical Tad team but he is for sure a Pac 12 rotation guy. he’s gonna be a difference maker off the bench next year, major glue guy

Agreed. Dude is a solid player.
