Honestly, I’m really cool with the players earning the numbers they want, but I think his explanation about 0 and 1 are kind of lame.

As I'm reading about how OC Coach Lewis is teaching them to "think fast, do fast" and "teaching them to be elite problem solvers" I keep thinking that with last year's staff, I'd be saying how they would have to simplify the offense by the first half of the first game because the team couldn't grasp the offense. With this staff, I truly believe they will.

Agree. Also, why couldn’t he just not say anything about #2. We all now Shedeur is going to get it. But why make such a big deal out of it. I feel like that was more harmful to team cohesion than good.
Yeah that was weird too. “Everybody’s gotta earn their number, but nobody else gets to wear QB1 number, so #2 is off limits”
Definitely has nothing to do with the fact that his son walks around with a gold chain with the number two on it

He’s picking and choosing when and what truth he wants to say. His entire speech was around everyone earning their number, but then says that #2 is off limits because that’s QB1’s number. Well, which is it? Does everyone have to earn their number or does everyone except Shedeur have to earn their number?
Look, we all know Shedeur is #2, and as far as I’m concerned he’s already earned it as being the best QB at CU in the last 15-20 years, and maybe ever. My point is that some things are better left unsaid so you don’t look inconsistent in your messaging.
I think it’s just an old school thing. #1 was always the most coveted number and went to the best of the best. Number 0 was only allowed as of a couple years ago. Wants to repeat the past
As the team leader, he should have earned it in all of the player-led workouts and drills they've been doing since early January.
Maybe CP should think thru a few things before he speaks? Yup.
All he had to do was not talk about any specific numbers. Everyone assumes Shedeur is #2, just like everyone also assumes Travis Hunter is #12 (unless he decides to switch of course)
I’m trying to decide if discussions on numbers or uniforms is more useless.
Or, are numbers just a subset of the uniform discussion?
In Prime’s speech on numbers, I find it funny that people are pointing out the inconsistency on the #2 jersey, but have just glossed over the fact that he spent the opening talking about who he would bring to a bar fight.
Personally, I love the inconsistency. Keep those players guessing Prime. I’d put the DL coach in charge of the complaints department.

Is this a really common thing across CFB? I feel like CU constantly has a ton of really sweet gear that is team only and not for sale. I know when my sister worked there she had about 5 shirts, 3 hoodies, and a couple sweat pants that were not available for sale. That seems like a big number for clothes that are typically the most well-liked designs and would sell very well.
So Shedeur is the exception? He doesn't have to earn #2 like the rest of the team has to earn whatever number they want?
He should be wearing 2 in practice already, then, no?
