CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

The B12 is competitive but it’s still the minor leagues. The P12 is trending that way but it aspires to be more. The B12 is happy being the junior league. That’s never been CU imho, even when we sucked we thought better of ourselves.

The P12 still being a major league after UCLA & USC left?

Rejoining an old conf that has lost Nubs, OU, Texas, A&M, and Mizzou since we left is horrible.
Yeah I don’t know why people sugarcoat what the B12 is now. They’ve cobbled together what they could and have a place in CFB. It’s just as a minor league conference. They know it, they like it. Works for them. Tbh I never thought about the B12 until this whole situation came about.

P12 still has 6 state flagship schools. It owns the mountain and pacific timezones. It doesn’t know what it is yet (possibly f’ed) but there are options (expand, merge, etc). Doesn’t have to be a lost cause but that’s how it’s shaping up.

Does the PAC "own" the west when USC and UCLA will often be on tv?

"Next Saturday Nebraska at UCLA. And then the week after Ohio State at USC" Ugh

USC and UCLA own the Pacific Time Zone and the Big 12 now has a MTZ option in BYU. The Pac 12 doesn’t own ****

I don't like the Big 12, and the new members make it even ****tier than it was before.

I was really hoping 8 of the PAC schools could find a way to merge with 8 of the ACC schools, or partner with the entirety of the ACC in some way. I think that would be our best opportunity for future revenue, and a place in a non-****ty conference with a good roster of institutions.

IMO outside of basketball, there is honestly nothing compelling about competing in the Big 12. Nothing.

6 Flag ship schools? Really who? We are talking football for TV ratings, not academics.
If the p12 had 6 flagship football universities we would have a TV deal.
The P12 owns 2 time zones that no one gives a f#ck about football in. Those that did give a f#ck (or at least kind of did) just left for the BIG

Yeah USC and UCLA were so bullish on the Pac future success they grabbed a lifeboat before anyone else in the conference knew the ship was sinking. Both schools are sitting on the beach counting their $$$ sipping margaritas wondering if anyone else survived.

I don’t like the Big12 at all, but the reality is that the end game has to be positioning ourselves for even the slightest chance at a P2 move ahead of the next media deal. To do that CU needs to demonstrate long term commitment to improving its entire athletic brand and investing in these programs. Hiring Prime is a great first step but that doesn’t suddenly make people forget the last 20 years. The best way to continue that investment is to maximize revenue and the Big12 seem to offer more revenue than the PAC. So easy decision IMO even if it isn’t anyone’s dream scenario.

There really isn’t anything special about the B12. The tallest midget comment is spot on.

I weep over the demise of an athletic conference that had been around for 100 years, had multiple national champions across multiple sports. Good schools playing good sports and now it’s all gone. Replaced by NFL lite that’s run by networks and greed. Yeah, they may cobble together a few straggler G5 programs and remain in some greatly diminished capacity. Yippee. This absolutely sucks. Honestly, if it wasn’t for Prime, I’d probably walk away. I don’t need this **** anymore. I can’t stomach what college sports has devolved to.

We hear you.

Signed,

The SWC.

maybe we are playing chess while the other suckers are playing checkers...

CU leaks that it is out of the pac, right on the eve of a new pac deal to be announced. tv deal collapses and thus the conference dissolves. big10 swoops in and takes uw and uo and CU and utah.

everyone will be THANKING the brilliant tactics then, won't they?

yeah, that's it. for sure.

I'm kind of wondering why the other schools would agree to uneven revenue split on CFP money. If OR and WA had an actionable offer does anyone think an uneven revenue split would keep them from moving?

What can I say. I’m tired of the east coast bias. I care even less about 2nd rate Texas schools. I want to see the west coast and mountain schools band together. I liked the idea then and still do regardless of USC.
