Ron Prince = pure entertainment

I keep waiting for that team to implode, but it hasn't happened yet. All I can say is this: CU better beat the dog out of those guys.

The bigger question is did he make his defensive coaches run with them?

What an idiot.

There is a fine line between disciplinarian hard ass, and the coach people hate to play for. If the coach has a ton of respect, he can get closer to that line. The question here is whether the kitties respect HCRP. The fact that players are discussing a topic HCRP forbad them from, in the media, leads me to believe HCRP is about to lose his team.

HCRP may be bat**** crazy, but he is entertainig, and the guy can beat UT...

He may have trouble just getting juco kids after this. Who would want to play for him if they had a choice to go somewhere else?

Huh? How is this all that bad? Coaches do stuff like this all the time. Their performance WAS horrendous.

I haven't read about any other coach in the recent past giving his defense 38 gassers at 3AM. A real coach would wait until the next day and make the entire team do them as it was a team loss.

:yeahthat:

In college, we had a freshman pitcher fall asleep in the dugout during a game. The following day at practice, we did all our regular conditioning and then the coach brought us all down the LF line and told us what happened and then told us we were going to run until someone threw up. And we did.

Good times... But I agree that's the way to do it. You're all in it together, for better or worse. And nobody fell asleep in the dugout ever again.:smile2:

Agree 100%

Prince is a joke. Great potential to cause animosity between the O and D players

Valid point on the whole team. The timing I don't think matters tho.

The Power of One. My ass!

Recalling my glory days on the diamond...Coach would put a practice schedule on his office door each day so we could see what the plan would be for that particular day. After a horrible double header the previous day where we played like crap, I recall stopping by the door to see what the agenda was for practice. All it said was "Bring your running shoes".....

On another occasion, again where we lost, we drove straight back to school (3 hours away) and didnt stop to eat. We were starving. Didnt get back until well after midnight. Couple parents complained that this was excessive treatment and we should have been fed. The next day there was that sign about running shoes again.

Guess he watched "Miracle" recently, or read about it in a coaching 101 seminar. Herb Brooks did this to Team USA after a lethargic effort against Sweden back in the day.

Except I don't think Herb singled out part of the team. Herb's coaching style (as depicted in the movie, anyway - I was 6 in 1980) seemed to be to get the team pissed at him to come together as a whole.

Not a lot of that going on with Prince if he's singling out the defense.

Maybe I'm thinking of someone else, but didn't Prince do something similar a year or 2 ago? I don't recall the details other than it was something unusual like this - like he made the coaches run stairs or something.

Yes, same guy.

I think the miracle situation was different than this one. Brooks had a lesson, a deeper meaning, to teach and the thrashing he put the team through was done with that intent in mind from the beginning. It wasn't about anger, it was done with purpose. That is one of the characteristics of a great coach.

Prince's actions to me seem more like a man taking out his anger on the team, which is about Prince feeling better and doesn't teach the team anything. I can't say if this is true since I wasn't there but from what I've seen/herd from Prince he strikes me as the kinda guy who thinks about himself first, does something like this, realizes he's been a dick, and then calls it "tough love" later.

The US Hockey team tied Norway, btw.

And Ron Prince is either an evil genius or whacked out psychopath. I know for sure I wouldn't want to be on that team, though.

True dat. Singling out one side of the ball doesn't do much for team building. I'm not saying he = Herb Brooks. I'm saying he's a hack who just watched "Miracle". Either way, he's a goofy looking hack, yeah? And yes, USA tied Sweden.
