CU has rejoined the Big 12 and broken college football - talking out asses continues

It wont change until after we win the next 3 college football playoffs because CP has dominated recruiting and brought every 5 star to Boulder... right????

I have been wondering what rules will be in place for the 12 team playoff now that at least 1 of the Power 5 conferences is decimated.

The college football playoff format is no longer making sense to me. What will the rules be? Take all 8 teams that are in the Conference chaampionship games? Take The 4 remaining spots go to Pac 6 champion?, MWC champion? MAC CHampion? CUSA Champion?, or are the Big and SEC going to scream for 3 teams?
There should be a rule that conferences with more then 12/14/16 teams should have to have a 4 team playoff for the conference championship.

netting out my several posts, i think uo and uw are basically blocked from joining the big at this time. the sec has been thoughtful about how and who it raids in terms of fit and footprint. ucla and usc were very aggressive moves by the big. they won't plunder further at this time. uo and uw are going to have 2 choices in this round: 1. hold a pac together and know that their paths to the playoffs are easier than ever even if the conference money is **** or 2. go to the b12 because no one can credibly accuse the b12 of predatory behavior and such after all that has happened to them.

this round is about over. for now.
Id be curious what language is in the team/conference membership contracts. I sometimes wonder if USC and UCLA could get sued/investigated for malicious or intentional harm to the conference if they did block expansion and some other stuff. It would seem Cal, Stanford, UO and UW would have standing in such a suit since they will clearly be materially harmed.

Which brings me to a theory about a potential broader mindset in all of this.

If the sport can't figure out a way to get under a central governing body, form a CBA, create scheduling uniformity, more parity, etc. I wonder if in 7 years, when programs that fancy themselves blue bloods and believe they should be competing for NCs are continually reduced to 6-6 or 7-5 most years, if we start seeing some of them decide they'd rather win than have their already rich AF ADs bring in the extra money.

I think OU, and possibly Texas, are going to find out quickly that winning 9-11 games/year was a lot more fun than getting paid more but getting their teeth kicked in by Georgia, Alabama and LSU. I think USC will be just fine in the B1G, but I think UCLA is going to get murdered.
Exactly.
Money is 1 thing, but winning is the ultimate prize and every team, save CU, that has made a change in the past few years is going to have a much harder time being successful. USC went from having to beat Utah, Oregon and Washington to Ohio State, Michigan, and Penn State. UCLA went from having a punters chance and now they'd be lucky to win 6 games. Texas and Oklahoma are in the same spot. Good luck with Bama, LSU, Auburn, etc. Those schools fire their coaches when they win 8 games. What's going to happen when 8 wins is the ceiling? I'm not a big fan of the Big12 and I understand why everyone is enamored with the Big10/SEC, but I'd prefer to win and this is our best bet to start winning again.

Another factor that is being completely glossed over and not given ANY credence whatsoever is that travel MATTERS. The assumption that USC and UCLA can just play 3 away games in the Central or Eastern time zone is going to be a negative for them. It is going to be very hard to win those games. If you look at the Big 10 teams that will have to go there, there is no way that the Big 10 schedulers make Ohio State or Michigan (or any team for that matter) travel to BOTH UCLA and USC in the same season.

The travel is going to fall disproportionally on UCLA and USC and I dont see that they will ever have success if they have to travel 3 times PLUS there is no way they have the Big 10 Championship game on the West Coast.

You are asking the 2 LA schools to join a conference and travel 3-4 times during the year?--- Yep, money talks.

The more I think about the Big 10 being on the west coast, the more ridiculous I think this is.

It’s pretty clear that ESPN is no longer bidding on Pac 9 rights and Fox has been out all along (and frankly have more incentive to move some P9 programs to B12 now). So it basically has to be Apple TV exclusively right? Maybe a CW game of the week?

I hear HGTV is coming into the negotiations hot.

My list of CU road trips:

Unplug iPad from piano, travel .0003 miles to big comfy chair with beer. Turn on flat screen, listen to Mark and Gary.

Repeat for 11 weeks.
I hope we don’t have 12 away games per season. Is that why they let us in at full share?

8M Fox linear deal for limited late games.

I wonder how many drugs GK is taking over the next 24 hours.
He drew a **** sandwich and now the whole conference has to take a bite. His exit package will make me not sad for him.

They will get a deal done. I have no doubt that not having any clear idea who is locked in as a conference member beyond osu and wsu is ****ing them up in real time.
