2023 Rocky Mountain Showdown Preview Thread (9/16/23)

That seems odd that ESPN would come to Boulder for a game against CSU but maybe ESPN is trying to get in on the Prime/CU hype with Fox getting CU's first 2 games on Big Noon.

Did you mean the USC game??
Nope.

After Saturday, I saw Oregon fans speculating that if we get to 3-0 they are hoping for Game Day when we play there. I haven't seen anything about the USC game, but I think that's the game most Buffs fans had in their minds if we were at least 4-1 going into it.

But tonight I saw CSU. First was from a Ram fan, so I dismissed it. Then I saw a couple tweets about MGM putting a friendly line on Game Day for the RMS and people are running with it.

Hopefully it happens. After the opener, if our next 2 at home are Big Noon & Game Day, the recruiting weekends are going to set things up incredibly well for the 2024 class.

Looking at the schedule for week 3 there's no marquee games that Saturday which bodes well for the possibility of GameDay coming to Boulder

ESPN does have that game-but I assumed when they got it it was P12 after dark. Gameday there isn't that weird looking at that schedule-Tennessee's at Florida, but why let Florida back into the national spotlight two weeks after they looked bad at Utah? Pitt-WV is also a possibility. Old rivalry game, and Amazon's Thursday night package is starting with Vikings-Eagles on the 14th. Herbstreit does that too now, so it might be a weekend to have those two do Pitt-WV to make it easier on Herbstreit. If CU wins convincingly Saturday though, can't rule it out.

Oregon I don't see-better schedule. Ohio State is at ND that night. Florida State's at Clemson. I know Clemson looked bad-but they've won 7 straight against FSU. That's a game with massive CFP implications even with Clemson looking like ****.

USC? I think Gameday for that game is a lock if we're 3-1 going in. ESPN has to put one Pac 12 game a year in that slot, and that's almost a no brainer.

Has there ever been a 10pm ET kickoff featured as the Gameday matchup? I’d be willing to bet no, and I highly doubt they are moving the kickoff time up

Seeing various tweets speculating that the CSU game might be picked up by ESPN for Game Day broadcast.

Spectrum and ESPN better have settled by then or . . .

Better get that Disney bundle!

MFer, I have the Disney bundle. Games on the flagship networks are not available on ESPN3 or whatever the f*ck they are calling it these days.

I'm GenX, so I know how to 🏴‍☠️ if I have to, but I shouldn't have to.

Hmpf. Didn’t know that. Just thought it was everything.

Kickoff time has nothing to do with gameday. Heck, gameday has been to locations when FOX had the broadcast.
But they want to be surrounded by rabid fans. Ain’t gunna be no fans 12 hours before kickoff.

When Gameday came for hoops it was for a night tipoff (I want to say 6 pm). Students filled the CEC to the necessary levels for cameras for the morning show. People will show up.

we used to get the same half dozen or so sheep around here every time we played them. they would spew their irrational and ill-informed takes at us from their anonymous drool covered keyboards.

this year, we haven't seen even a single one around here.

conclusion?

we have finally broken their spirit and they fully accept their place in the football universe.

it is a bit sad, actually, watching them realize they are never going to grow up to be astronauts and such.

the silence of the lambs is complete.

we have finally broken their spirit

I would counter that their school's ****ty handling of their football program, similar to ours pre-Prime, has broken their spirit. We are just the beneficiaries.

I can't believe they ran up the tab for that new stadium and then completely disengaged. It's kinda like building a new swimming pool in the backyard and then deciding you'd rather sit inside and play chess.

Checkers feels more apt in this analogy.

He seems very defeated on Ramnation

How about BeerFight though? That dude is full on clown mode.

Who was the dude that wanted to meet up and fight any CU fan that was willing? I've never seen a dude using steroids to try to up his online posting game, but there we were.

They should be forever grateful for the publicity their Ag University is about to get in a week. Provided we beat the Nubs, I suspect it will be the biggest audience their football team has ever received.

BeerFight wouldn't take a bet with me. Shame.

This might set up a very amusing exchange between delusional fanbases, which have a certain amount of overlap stemming from their hatred of everything Buffalo.

This weekend CU has a nationally televised game which has been heavily promoted by the network and covered on every national sports talk show. At the same time though there are still a significant number of haters out there questioning the Buffs and more importantly questioning Prime. The fusker fans and media have also put a lot of effort into building a narrative that what Prime has built in Colorado is false. We have all seen what happens when people question Prime, he makes a point to prove them wrong.

Good chance, not a prediction but a good chance that CU lays it on Nebraska this week. CU leads by 40-50 at the end of the third quarter and everyone who is dressed for the game is out there playing.

The following week we get the Sheep. Game is not on national TV, Prime and the Buffs are still the big story but nobody is suggesting that CSU is a threat to them.

CU still dominates the game but after coasting to an early lead Prime decides to use the game to reward and develop his backups. Guys like Hunter, Edwards, Horn and of course Shedeur spend the second half wearing baseball caps. CU gets a clear win but a 20-30 point margin is plenty for Prime.

Here is were the fun starts as the CSU fans start in on the nub fans making comparisons on the game. The CSU story is that because of the score and the statistics CSU sucks less than the fuskers. In the minds of the sheep this would make perfect sense.
