according to the Hawkins Luncheon...

On Freshman RB Darrell Scott Being 100% Healthy—“I think he’s very close to that. How he rates that, I don’t know exactly but I think he’s very close to that. We still have a brace on him, our doctors want to play it safe and just get that added insurance there.”

I don't think its been close to 100%. Whatever he did, it was NOT minor.

I remember talking to 2HellNback about this. He was correct. Why didn't they just take him out? I'm sure everyone would understand if Hawkins doesn't want to take any chances. I thought they were using him as a decoy, but that probably isn't the case.

All i know is 5 carries vs. UT will cause a ****storm around here.

These JAs down here are still pissed about losing him. It would be awesome if this game is his coming out party.....

I will be leading that storm and I will unleash hell:smile2:

A brace Mmmmmmmmmmmmm.....Seriously,if he's hurt why didn't they just redshirt him? Hawkins says he's close to 100%, if that IS the case then you'd have to say he hasn't come close to living up to the hype.

Honestly,I don't know what to believe, I do know scott better start showing everyone why he's the number one recruited rb or the whispers of bust will be starting soon.

Not from me mind you,I would like to see his productuion go up for the rest of the year and then see a healthy scott tear it up from game 1 in 09.

Bad part is,our OL is a mash unit and littered with inexperience.

Eh... When Scott has gotten the ball and has had any semblance of a hole he's looked really good. I'm not ready to give up on him yet.

Get the dude the ball - lots.

Are most #1 ranked RBs immediate superstars? I don't feel like doing the research, but I don't think it is the case. Give it time.

Exactly. When the line gives him a hole, he's exciting to watch. He never goes down on the first hit, and his stiff arm is sick.

oh, bs!!! give the kid some time. he is just a frosh. he has 4 years here and yet after 4 games gone in his first season some are talking bust? good lord.

some people have no patience in any shape form or context.

im not directing this at you skyo. i know you are a messenger here. but seriously, some people need to relax a bit if they were thinking he would come to CU and be running for 200 + yards per game.

the kid got dinged. seems he is a bit hobbled by this injury. now, this is just a suggestion but, why dont we let those who know 100% about his status determine his playing time and placement in games? i know its a crazy concept but, i think it just may work for the best in the long run.

the kid was a great get but he is not the difference between CU being a national championship contender and an also ran in his freshman year. he is a piece of the puzzle in the long run.

give the kid a freaking break!!! geeze!!! :wow:

I'm not mad at the kid. I just think we should probably give him the ball more than 5 times. If he was dinged up then let him rest. FS said it wasn't a minor injury. I just wish Hawk would give us something on how he is planning on using Darrell.

maybe keeping the wraps on DS's status is part of DH's game planning? i dont know if that is leagal in college football. just tossing that out there.

You never know. I'd love to see DScott run all over the horns. Shut them up about their "Mack Brown recruiting curse".

That's the thing folks,5 carries a game won't get it done. Stewart or scott get 13 yds on 2 carries and then we throw the ball 7 straight times. Nothing wrong with running it 5-6 times in a row.

Helfrich seems hell bent on cody becoming the next chase daniel and that ain't happening.

Another thing, you can't get in a ryhtym when you run the ball once, then throw 7 straight times, run twice then throw 5 straight times.

I know everyone like to blame the coordinators but damn it,wake up and smell the pigskin and run the damn ball and gte a groove going when it's working.

I agree 100%, I hope he gets some carries to show some of his talents THIS year too.

I didn't have a problem with Helfrich's playcalling for the FSU game. I though the way to beat FSU was through the air. That was their weakness imo. If Hawk was his normal self in that game, i think we would've walked out with a W.

Well, can't argue there, would have been a different ball game for sure.Playcalling wasn't bad, execution was more the problem.

I wasn't buying the OL excuse to start but it's becoming more believable at this time.

I'm looking for a silver lining with the OL situation. I can't really think of one. Hopefully Ryan gets his Med-RS. I haven't heard anything official on Ryan.

Well, Marcus houston got 9 years to play 4 so miller and tuioti should be okay:smile2:

Agreed, first thing I said after the FSU game is that he is a lot more hurt than anyone cared to admit.
Couple that with his struggles with pass blocking and he is not going to see the field much.
I think they did try to use him as a some, but I would rather take it easy on him.

I SERIOUSLY, honestly hope the coaching/training staff isn't stupid enough to put him in the game, or practice for that matter with a SERIOUS injury-- for ANY player, but especially a freshmen.. So many risks to a 18/19 yr old kid.

I hope, and hopefully not faulty, and trust the coaching staff didn't have all the info.

Scott hyperextended his knee in the second week against Eastern Washington but is feeling better. And No. 5 Texas is coming to town.

Hagan believes Scott's sore knee, although not serious enough to keep the freshman off the field, affected him mentally as much as physically.

"Darrell was thinking about it, so he wasn't playing fast," Hagan said Tuesday.

Scott wore a knee brace against West Virginia and Florida State, but that came off this week.

"I'm feeling good," Scott said after Tuesday's two-hour practice. "I've rehabbed the knee for two weeks. I should get more PT (playing time) this week. I just had to fight through it."

Hagan believes Scott is ready for a breakout game and thinks it could come this week.

"We're going to give him a lot of touches in practice," Hagan said. "You'll see a different back on Saturday."

oh now its a hyper extended knee?

When programs start changing the supposed injury suffered, I start to get very worried.

On the other hand, if true, :woot: for breakout game! That news warms my kool-aid drinkin heart!

Dear Lord, please do not let DS become another MH!

DS has impressed me nearly every time he's touched the ball.

I haven't seen any evidence to indicate that he's a headcase (MH), overrated (MH), going to transfer to a rival (yeah, I said rival...MH) or gonna get stuffed by JJ Billingsly, as happened to MH, in one of my fonder incidents in CU football.

This kid flattens defenders! He hasn't gotten the carries that we'd hoped, but there's nothing in his performance that is less than his buildup promised, in my opinion.

Give the kid some room, there is a lot of Buff football to be played in his future. No reason to panic now.....
