Commentators for the Nebraska game

Was it just me or did you guys find the commentators, especially Ed Cunningham, VERY partial towards Nebraska.? It seemed like he kept on trying to convince himself that the Huskers were going to take over the game at any minute. He also barely spoke about Colorado...it was all about the Fuskers and their fans. I was getting pissed!!!!!

In defense of them I was pretty sure the huskers were going to take over at anypoint as well.

I thought they were okay. Nebraska controlled the ball for 2/3s of the time. The offense always gets more play than the defense unless the defense makes a big play. They certainly talked up CU when the Buffs did good things. They did seem a little enamored with Suh though

They were sooo ready to take that touchdown away from J. Smith saying the holders knee is down and the ball is dead bull****. If that was the case then even concocting a play like this wouldnt make sense. ALso, they were all over Manke at the end fo the half for a perfectly legal hit.
On the McKinght pass to Scott, the defender totally interfered but they didnt bring that up at all.

Didn't he and Steinkuhler cost us the game for the most part?

I beg to differ about that hit, but it doesn't matter the game is over with. Que someone saying something about all the penalites missed on CU's side as well. I know I know....................there were penalties missed on both sides, but in my opinion that was a personal foul penalty.

I did learn that the unl fans are very smart!

Why the ?? I thought it was very legitimate of them to point out how geniusy it was for fusker fans to make noise when the other team has the ball. They are the only fan base to do such a thing, for ****s sake!!

I watched the game with my father-in-law, a man who could never be described as a football fan. His comment after watching for about 30 min. of the 1st half was "boy, those announcers sure seem to like Nebraska, you'd hardly think Colorado was there."

I know, just because I'm paranoid it doesn't mean people arent out to get me.

Or you could just que yourself up for that one. And I'd bet if it was your free safety it would have been a clean hit huh.

i mean...

I think the announcers were just trying to score another turkey dinner at their hotel, or maybe a date with a nebraska cheerleader. But yeah, they did seem like they were stroking nebraska a little bit. But it wasn't a big deal.

What ticked me off is that it took most of the game for those tards to call Riar Geer "Geer" instead of "Greer." Doesn't ESPN/ABC hire spotters anymore? Did they skimp on having a roster printed out?

Announcers are traditionally more lopsided towards the home team guys, happens in every game.

I thought it was well covered.

And BULL**** on that flagrant hit at the end of the 2nd. That was uncalled for. I'd call out a husker if he did the same thing.

It was a bad hit, But I don't think it he was intentionally trying to hurt anyone. I think he got caught in the moment and committed to make the big hit before realizing it was an uncatchable ball. It should have been flagged though.

You say they were biased and then in the next sentence say it was well covered?
Ya, thats a bunch of bull****. They were awful.

Happens for every Fusker game...I wouldn't say it happens for every home team!

I still think the hit was just fine...what do you mean flagrant...the ball was overthrown and the hit was timed right when the ball was passing over the Fuskers head...what would people have said about Manhke if he didnt hit him and the guy leaped up and caught it...screw that the play was live and the hit was timed well.

I don't know if he was trying to hurt but come on....that ball was way gone and the he could have stopped momentum.

There may be some who say, "Why worry about what any commentators say" well, here is a for-instance why.

Reading a husker recruit board today..the red have offers out to these three, and they are pretty big studs, with a lot of teams in pursuit. These three all watched the CU-NU game on TV. They all regurgitated the announcers blurbs...the fan support..the best fans in the country..the huskers won't quit..and (I swear)..the RB candidate said..I liked how they run the ball..they were getting 5 yards every carry..lol.

The point is, while it was annoying..it didn't bother me, until I see how slanted reporting on a game is received by potential recruits. Obviously it's not going to be a major reason..but if a kid is 50/50 on two schools, that might be the tipping factor. ABC, or any network, ought to be even-handed in their coverage..it's the decent thing to do.

WE don't wear red.

Actually, the recruit you are kind of quoting wasn't watching on TV. He was on an official visit. Jarvis Giles from Florida is the guy. So I'm pretty sure he was speaking his own opinion on the events of the day.

Skids, I may be mistaken here but I think you took a little shine'n to the old Beakster. Not many folks try to haiku anymore. Fols here like to Hawku, though.

I speak the same as I type...peck peck peck....peck
