Bradford, McCoy, and Tebow. Only 3?

Really, we knew he wasn't going to win but no Graham Harrell? Mike Leach is pissed, and I would be, too!

LINK

“If Graham is not invited to the Heisman, they ought to quit giving out the award,” Leach said. “It is a shameless example of politics ruling over performance. The other guys are deserving, but he has earned a place alongside them.”

dont blame him at all..... seems everyone has forgotten that Harrell and Leach beat McCoy and Brown h2h in Lubbock 4 weeks ago..... damn shame that he isnt in NYC with the others and TTech is playing in the Fiesta Bowl (if the conference were going by the rules Mack Brown made up the last week of November).....

Both Tech and Texas were eligible and the Fiesta Bowl took Texas. It was the decision of the Fiesta Bowl committee.

then I would venture h2h didnt matter much to the FBC either then.

I´d even go step further and say the actual game doesn´t matter to them. The only things the Bowls care about are the TV ratings, butts in the seats and appeasing cronies and sponsors. I seriously doubt they care about the actual game that´s taking place at all.

Some people think Boise should´ve gone to the Fiesta over Ohio State, but there was no way in hell the Fiesta Bowl was going to pick an underdog like Boise when they could get a team with a fanbase like OSU´s. Last season´s BCS selections kinda opened my eyes about this and I did some research. In order to be eligible to be selected for an at-large berth to play in a BCS Bowl you need to win 9 games and be ranked in the Top 14 of the BCS and the Bowls then just pick from the pool of eligible teams and I´d guess the actual record or what the teams did during the season doesn´t matter to them at all or is an after thought at best.

This is the same bull**** Fiesta committe that sent a mediocre Notre Dame team to face an excellent CU team in 95. It's the same bull**** Fiesta Bowl committe that again catered to the ND fanbase in 2000 (??) when they sent the Irish to get slaughtered by the Beavs.

**** the Fiesta Bowl.

Actually, the only thing that matters is TV! I have first hand knowledge of this, my wife was in marketing at Frito-Lay and worked with the Fiesta Bowl committee. What they look at is the demographics of viewers. They will get a big one from OSU vs. TU, not Tech vs. Boise.

Also, each BSC bowl has an economic clause that they can use ever four years. That is why OSU got picked over FSU when KSU beat OU in the Big 12 championship. I remember someone of ESPN stating that it would be KSU vs. FSU, and my wife looked at me and said "It will never happen".

Also, there is a HUGE buff supportter on the Fiesta Bowl Committee.

I am very close to a person on a bowl committee. The meeting goes something like this:

AGENDA

1. How many seats/tickets does each bowl committee member need?

2. Of the teams we can pick from, who brings the most fans/revenue?

3. are our TV and ad contracts locked up?

4. lunch.

He got screwed and he should go.

However, Tebow is the winner hands down. His last win was much more compelling then Bradford's last win. Too bad the Big XII is not as strong across the board as the SEC to create a top 5 set up on a regular basis like the SEC does for their title game.

Kentucky, Auburn, Miss. State, Vandy. Interesting use of "across the board".

EDIT: I've got a lot of respect for the SEC, and I realize that CU, aTm, Iowa State and Baylor didn't exactly tear it up. But again, I think the SEC has one team that plays at the level of the Big XII's top 3. They are solid in the middle. And weak in the bottom. We'll learn a lot more after the bowl games.

Leach has room to be mad but it's hilarious how he acts like its some huge suprise.

The Heisman has been a joke for years...undeserving tool bags win it half the time and the guy that has given the most blood and sweat usually loses (Frazier cough cough).

It's a Joke.

If Tebow wins I'll lose the last bit of faith I have in the award. Bradford beats him by a big margin in every stat except interceptions......Bradfords thrown 7 and Tebow 2.....but you forget one thing, Miami.....Bradford is a SOPHMORE (Not to mention as a soph he's already thrown for more yards than Tebow in his career). Bradford has the exact same amount of loses except the difference between Bradfords loss and Tebow's is that Bradford's was to the #3 ranked team in the country and Tebow's was to an 8-4 Ole Miss.
Everyone has hyped Tim Tebow so damn much it's ridiculous...he's a great quarterback don't get me wrong...he's just simply been outplayed this year.

****, McCoy has even outpassed and out-touchdowned Tebow...and guess who else.....Joe Ganz (Yards)....his hype is such garbage.

The sad truth is that Tebow will win it....and it's a damn shame that in a 'good' year of football he gets to make history and join the likes Archie Griffin....it's a damn shame. Everyone needs to get off that stupid Tebow bandwagon.

Bradford FTW.

My point to that was that the Big 12 north has not won or even been competitive in the CCG over the last few years. Whereas each side of SEC is more balanced as a conference and their CCG is more meaningful. The SEC gave Tebow a better stage to shine on than Bradford got in the Big 12 title game. I will also predict here and now that UF will thump OU. :smile2:

2002 #12 Colorado Lost 7-29 #8 Oklahoma
2003 #15 Kansas State beat 35-7 #1 Oklahoma
2004 Colorado Lost 3-42 #2 Oklahoma
2005 Colorado Lost 3-70 #2 Texas
2006 #19 Nebraska Lost 7-21 #8 Oklahoma
2007 #1 Missouri Lost 17-38 #9 Oklahoma
2008 #19 Missouri Lost 21-62 #4 Oklahoma

The north is 1-6 v the south. Average margin of victory is 33 points. Three unranked teams have been seated to the Big12 CCG

2002 #4 Georgia beat #22 Arkansas 30-3
2003 #5 Georgia lost to #3 LSU 34-13
2004 #15 Tennessee lost to#3 Auburn 38-28
2005 #13 Georgia beat #3 LSU 34-14
2006 #4 Florida beat #8 Arkansas 38-28
2007 #14 Tennessee lost to #5 LSU 21-14
2008 #2 Florida beat #1 Alabama 20-31

The west is 4-3 versus the east. Average margin of victory is 15 points. Additionally every single team since inception of the SEC CCG has been ranked in the AP top 25.

I do agree that the SEC's divisions exhibit more balance than the Big XII's.

The Heisman is not about statistics. It's a popularity contest. As for being outplayed we'll find out about that.

This year are you ****ing kidding me?

In 96 we all but had a "Bowl Alliance" game locked up also, but then Texas upset NU in the big 12 championship game and the powers that be known as the Bowl Alliance took a NU over us because we lost head to head with them and then instead of going to the Cotton Bowl we got sent to the Holiday Bowl after the Cotton bowl took Kstate cuz Bill Snyder couldn't stop whinning about how good of a record they had after we whooped their a** that year.

It's ashame TTU isn't going to a BCS game, they probably won't have another shot at one for the next 5 or so plus years.....

its supposed to be

It hasn't been about statistics in over 30 years. Its not even specific to offense or defense let alone position.

It's popularity based loosely on the perceived impact the player had on the field. In a lot of cases the players chosen played at a high level all year; directly impacted the outcome of games they played in; were an upperclassman in most cases; and were about to play in the mNC game.

Harrell might not be there because he was totally a non factor in the loss to OU while McCoy kept Texas in the game versus TT if memory serves. Harell and the Red Raiders totally pancaked that game.

You're dellusional if you think that Tebow played better ball this year than Bradford.

on a purely statistical basis you are right but I think OU still only looses 1 game without Bradford Florida probably looses 3 or 4 without Tebow. Frankly i think McCoy had a more impressive season then Bradford.

See I think it's absolutely the other way around. So Tebow only throwing 2,500 yards was the main element to Florida wins?

I guess you make an interesting point somewhat...I guess we'll never know.

As for McCoy....I have him ranked 2nd.

He's a great quarterback as well.

Tebow will win the Heisman because of the regional voter break down. He'll dominate SEC country, and the east coast. McCoy and Bradford will split the B12 region votes. It'll be a close vote, but Tebow will win his second Heisman because their is no one in his region to take votes away from him.

Great point.

stop making sense, its not allowed around here.

i think Leach has a right to be upset, at least invite the kid. HOWEVER, Captain Pirate voting Tech #2 in the final Coaches poll makes the performance over politics card somehow not too convincing.

Can't really have it both ways.

They had as much of a claim to that spot as any of the other 1 loss teams did.
